Zombie Pathfinding - an idea from a fellow programmer...
barrett_killz replied to kurozael's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That won't prevent zig-zagging, it's using the ArmA engine pathfinding, so it's not a solution (at least for the mod). -
Will Standalone be released this month?
barrett_killz replied to poodude28 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think we will put our hands on it in like 2 or even 3 months, IMHO (since I saw some pre alpha footage, I was shocked - still I don't believe much work has been done since then). -
Dayz Performance (CPU Decision Purchase)

Crap? Unparking the threads (two due to Win 7) on my i3 gave me a little performance boost. -
You can get better FPS. Turn off FXAA, video memory - default, and lower your resolution to like 1024x768.

Dayz Performance (CPU Decision Purchase)

I'd go for the cheaper one, I'd even buy something less expensive, like i5-2500K (know a guy who has this one) -
Haha nice one ^

Is anyone going to stream this? If so, when and where?

Hiding behind a tree to avoid zombies = dislike.

You won't run it on Mac OS because the game is written in C/++, so it works only for Windows.
-
Are you hosting the server locally or on a public host (ex. Vilayer or something)? Because the DB settings and setup matter.
-
The AA technology in ArmA II is too old for this GPU, it won't change really much, you could enable post processing just for the motion blur (I personally like it). You better mess with the AA settings in BF3, Crysis 3 or something similar.

I can't believe you guys pay so much for building up rage NASA computers just to play a game or two. Incredible...

Imagine what a fail will be if the servers will start to lag out and crash, or even get DDoS attacks... -
He feels lag at 50 FPS with that $1000 GPU

Alpha test, closed alpha, even more closed alpha?
barrett_killz replied to Felixthefriendlycat's topic in New Player Discussion
The funny thing is that the release was planned before even Christmas. -
I'm waiting for some news too. No idea to save the money or not.

Is my PC up to standars?
barrett_killz replied to Donttazemebro54's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
No. < 12 FPS to be. -
The thing is that I'm not looking to pay hundreds of euros for 6 and 8 core CPUs, and I'm looking for a normal laptop with a good budget.

What about: Samsung NP300E5X-S04RU laptop Intel Core i5-3210M @ 2.5 GHz 4 GB DDR3 @ 1333 MHz NVIDIA GeForce GT620M @ 1 GB OR Dell Inspiron N5521 laptop Intel Core i7-3517U @ 1.9GHz 6 GB DDR3 @ 1600 MHz AMD Radeon HD 8730 @ 2 GB?

God, how could you ask this if you know that your CPU is top of the line? You don't even have to overclock it...

I always take a grenade as well when I find it, and also a smoke grenade, but I always forget about them and they seem to be almost useless as I don't really use them.

He has to buy a new motherboard to switch to AMD.

Ooooh, come on guys, that's just an alpha, don't get too complicated, you're about to postpone the alpha release again... -
I'd rather build up one with FX 8350 and HD 6670, or a better AMD GPU.
