DAYZ lags, but not ARMA 2. Need help, have specs
Carnage752 replied to Carnage752's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Thank you. We have figured out it's a cpu problem, and are figuriing out ways to balance/increase his CPU balance. He definantly runs faster now that we turned off skype video chat while we play -
My suggestion? Get good at PvP and hunt bandits. Or get some team mates and go try to acquire vehicles amd set up a camp. Hell, become a sniper. Your endgame is only as limited as your imagination.

Stop saying "friendly" and immediately trusting me
Carnage752 replied to Obsolescence's topic in New Player Discussion
Well OP, despite the reprehensibility of your actions, I support what you do. I play as a lone wolf mostly, have only killed 2 people so far, but I've rightfully learned not to trust people. If they have a gun, I kill them. If they have an axe, if they get close I'll kill them. I don't trust friendlies, though I don't murder them like you do ^^. I usually tell them to go on their way if they put themselves in danger to call friendly, but if they call it from cover I usually just reload my clip. We all play how we play, I play with some small decency, you play pure survival. Point is, I respect how you survive. My 1st kill was a man for hope of supplies, but turned out to be a poor new spawn. My 2nd was a full-fledged end gear studded bandit who killed my friend. Both cases, while different, were both justified by survival. No man should be criticized when his only responsibility is his own life and he zealously defends it against those who are threats against it. If we ever meet, we shall share a flask of water. Or more likely I'll pop you in the head from the woods and take your gear. You know how it is. -
My first won firefight, with an end-game bandit no less.

So me and my friend *Blotted Out* were meeting up at a town on the coast (He just spawned, and is really new). On our way north we decided to hit up Balota Airfield for any goodies, seeing how we drank our last consumables. It was a night time server, only 5 players, but still visible enough for ops. We were entering a hangar, with me on point, when I turn around because I hear some VERY LOUD noises. My friend, in a puff of smoke, dropped dead. He was shot. Oh shit. I had a DMR, full clip, nce damage and semi auto. I steadied myself to prepare for yet another player encounter and went prone and watched my friends body. I didn't know if he had seen me, but I assumed he would go to the body first. He came from the left instead of the right, and I quickly adjusted my sighting. He managed to fire off a couple of rounds, but I shot that bastard no less than six times with my DMR. He dropped like a rock. I was hit, broken bones and bleeding out, but miraculously alive. I bandaged myself, took some morphine, then checked this guy's body out. He was loaded the best equipment in the game. His gun was an MK 48 MOD. If he had hit me one more time, I would be dead. His sidearm was an M9 suppressed. He had an entrenching tool, GPS, Night Vision (Probably how he saw us), Range Finder, the fucking works. I was surprised. And elated. I'm not sure if he was a hacker or not, but he left the server shortly afterwards :). I helped myself to all my rightfully earned spoils, relinked up with my friend, and as some compensation for his hardship, gave him my DMR :). We are now working on fixing his internet connection problems before continuing on our adventures. That was the first bandit kill, first firefight survived, and first end-tier equipment I've ever found. It was quite amazing. I murdered an innocent man a long time ago. Consider this my reparation for my sin to the community. -

We were loaded with pretty good stuff, and were a pair. Probably saw us as a legit threat. Too bad he sucked at aiming XD -

I scoff at your comparison of me to a noob, but otherwise thanks, I will. -

Good internet, good performance, DayZ still lags. Internet problem, not performance
Carnage752 posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
So my friend just bought a new laptop, one that's alot better than mine. We are playing DayZ, but his is laggy as hell, as is his ArmA 2. So we start googling and trying to fix the performance issues (We assumed it was a performance issue). After a bunch of settings and launcher parameters were added, it did nothing. So we sighed, cried, and got off. But then he played his ArmA 2 game, and it was not only lag-free, it ran perfectly for him. So clearly the performance updates did work, but this isn't a performance problem. Obviously his DayZ woes were from the internet. Now heres the thing, his internet is SOO much faster than mine. It took him 1 hour to download ArmA 2 compared to my 6. And I can run DayZ perfectly, performance and connection wise. So whats the problem? To be clear, again, this is a CONNECTION problem, not performance. We have read (and tried) many performance improvements, and they did work (as evidenced by his ArmA 2 game), but DayZ is still laggy for him. Do we need to open ports for DayZ? Or is there another problem with his DayZ connection that we need to remedy? Also, we run DayZ through DayZCommander. We have twiddled with the max connections. Quick and comprehensive help would be appreciated. -

But so far do you think porting (assuming this is a connection problem) is our best bet? We will proceed with it regardless, but some outside thought would be appreciated. -

I just had to mess with the settings a little. ArmA runs just fine. -

Oh, and I am referring to lag, not low FPS. He can't run as fast I can, he bounces around a lot, he teleports. I am referring to lag my friend, rest assured. -

My first Human kill (and murder), followed by a suicidal rage against the world.
Carnage752 posted a topic in New Player Discussion
I killed and murdered my first human tonight. I was walking through the plains when I saw some idiot throwing road flares everywhere. I didn't see a weapon but I wasn't taking chances. He didn't spot me because it was pitch black and I was in a Ghillie Suit. I centered my Ak-74 Kobra on him and unloaded. He survived my first volley somehow, full health and a few missed bullets maybe. I then ran up to him and finished the job. (Humans are tough, good to know.) I checked his body. Found no weapons, just basic supplies. I then saw my murder count rise to 1. I killed an unarmed man. I was astonished, and then I was angry. He had no supplies, nothing of worth to me. His death did not help me in anyway, and he was unarmed, thereore in vain. Plus I could have forced him to use a blood bag I had on me to heal me. Damnit. Something snapped inside of me as I was looting the medic hospital nearby. I threw numerous flares, and started shooting the zombies, rather than stealthing through them. After I massacred the camp and found very little of worth, I left. I ran into Cherno, and completely blowing off subtlety, I donned a chemlight and ran through the town looting. Understandbly, zombies followed. I unloaded many bullets into them, but I kept getting hurt, eventually to the point of near blindedness. Then I saw the graphic glitch in center town, and was REALLY blinded. I found no matches, which I desperately needed to cook meat to eat, and knowing that I screwed an innocent person/blood bag administer, I just started running through the town shooting zombies. I took out my backup shotgun, unloaded every slug. Then I took my M9117, and unloaded that too. Then, I got out my Ak-74 Kobra, and with 5 clips, kept shooting every zombie fucker in town till they knocked me out and ate my stomach. Long story short, I lost my shit after killing my first man. It was FUN! -
Man you found a chopper?? I'm going to ignore the rest of this and say fuck you! You skipped a chopper!

Are you kidding me? I've started playing DayZ barely month ago and I could get around with no weapon no problem. Finding a weapon isn't difficult. You want to turn the beach into a newbie killing ground because you suck? Kindly f* off. Nobody said apocalypse would be easy. -
So I've been playing DayZ for about a month now. I've faced many hardships and victories. Unfortunately, I'm too nice a person, and this has led me to hesitate far too many times when I see a player. Combine that with my inexperience at ArmA gunplay, and that equals every player encounter so far lost. I was determined to stop. I was determined to kill. Today, as I was looting Cherno during a nightime server, I heard a single gunshot. I've learned to fear these gunshots, and I quickly ran back into the church I was scavenging and closed the door. I leaned out of a corner, took out my AK-74 Kobra, and waited. I didn't hear anything for awhile, and was only half paying attention when the doors opened. My heart stopped. It took me a two costly seconds to sight the figure crouching a little right to where my gun was. He ran back though and closed the door. He then tried to communicate. Ya. I was stunned. We exchanged friendlies, he offered me a morphine shot, and then I told him I was leaving the building. He promised not to shoot me. He kept his word. He sadly turned down offers to scavenge with me, but the experience was enough. It taught me two things. First: I need to sight targets alot more quickly if I want to survive. Second: Friendlues are not mythological. Granted though, if I hear gunshots again and see anotther armed man running around, you better announce friendly fast, because I will kill you.
