I am experiencing a similar/same issue. Most servers I attempt to join kick me with the "invalid version, server rejected connection" error. Those that don't kick me just get stuck on the loading screen. (and no it's not impatience, I have tried about 3 times and left it loading while going away to do something and come back 30-40 mins later with it still stuck on loading) I have Validated Arma2 + Arma2 OA files. Reinstalled the 1.7.2.5 update using Six, Day Z Commander and manually. Reinstalled the Arma Beta update patch 96061 using Day Z commander and manually. Rolled back to previous Arma Versions and DayZ versions then reinstalled current In fact the only thing I havent done is reinstall Arma2 because I REALLY don't want to have to re-download it. (slow/unstable connection) The thing is I experienced this issue only after a major character error. (A hacker teleported the entire server to mid-air, I d/c'd but on rejoining another server died before I loaded three times before my character appeared on the debug plains. After rejoining a few servers I respawned on the coast with no items. After wandering for a few minutes I changed servers to join a friend and was spawned at another random coastal spot (with the items I had found in the previous spawn) Since this I have been unable to join any server that I have tried. (about 20 servers tried per night for the last 3 or 4 days (admittedly these are not all different servers but about 15 unique)

Bump because I'd really like to be able to play Day Z again soon

Its ultimately your choice but pricewise you can get a much more powerful desktop than a laptop. For example a $1000 desktop will have better specs than a $1000 laptop. Yeah this is generalising a little but you cannot even come close to equal specs for price between laptop and desktop. I suggest getting a desktop! EDIT: And DON"T get a MAC they are almost impossible to upgrade and are ridiculously overpriced compared to a PC with equal stats

I was in a server where a hacker teleported everyone to mid-air about 50 feet up. I managed to disconnect before hitting the ground (yay) but when i rejoined another server I was killed before my game even loaded. After trying to respawn 3 more times (and getting killed before loading again) I finally spawned in the debug plains. Could I have a character reset please. My character Name is 'Waylander' and my ID is '48403590'. I have also experienced some difficulties with joining some servers. I get the 'incorrect version' server message even though my game is the appropriate version according to day Z commander. I have also manually downloaded the Arma 2 patch (96061) which is the one which the server says it is running. The problem though is that some servers with that patch will allow me to join while others will not. I often play with a friend and his version is the same and he does NOT get kicked by the servers that kick me for version mismatch. Any suggestions short of re-installing Arma 2 as I really do not want to have to redownload the files. (I have validated the files to no avail) This is preventing me from joining the servers suggested by LEGION. Reset PLZ!!

I have never disconnected to avoid death EXCEPT on a few occassions. Whenever I get 'Thunderdomed' Whenever the whole server gets teleported to a single location Whenever a hacker who is invisible/invincible attacks me. Whenever I get randomly teleported to a location in mid-air. Hey... It seems that the only times I disconnect to avoid death is when the game is not running as designed! Additional information: I never Alt+F4 or end task I use the in game abort command which as far as I am concerned is fairly legitimate.

Eh don't apologise I know the feeling. I personally will still play even though there are game breaking bugs mostly because I enjoy the environment and the team-play with some friends I play with regularly. And I'm actually fairly willing to forgive most things. The scripters/hackers/whatever are annoying and I personally wish that most of them got a swift kick in the crotch but I can deal with being killed. The thing you need to do in this game is be willing to not get attached to your equipment. Besides Alpha Mod is in Alpha. Once we hit standalone the world will be a much happier place.

This sounds like quite an interesting idea. Are there particular servers in which the coalition is likely to be basing? If so what kind of deployment of forces (peacekeeping AND military) are we talking about? I would be happy to help support such an effort. Just some thoughts. Are you planning on having patrols near towns or solely near Coalition bases? Are you planning on having military forces support medical support forces who are entering dangerous locations? Are you planning on having static deployment around certain landmarks with constant patrols or are you just planning on sending forces to eliminate player killers? How are you planning on keeping the peace? Are you relying on reports from players? Are you using a ask first, shoot later policy or are you shooting on sight on all bandits? What about people who are given murders in self defence? (killing a newly spawned bandit who is trying to kill someone again?) Are you recruiting leaders or tactical officers to organise patrols or are you relying on chance?
