Because there isn't a lot of 1st person only servers because admins want to please everybody, and most people can't find any populated first person only servers with good ping, and if you play on a tpv server you are at a disadvantage against players in tpv, because they can see you over walls, around corners, over buildings, etc...

I get what you are saying, but I also agree with Dsi1, and I think that making third person view be an over the shoulder type of thing, would make it purposeless, because by doing that, you would have a good portion of the screen obstructed, so FPV would be more viable, and it would essentially be the same thing with a portion of your body obstructing the screen
  3. How does third person encourage player interaction? or role playing? Did you see the video in the OP? the FOV you get in 3r person view is not much more than first person, and the tactical overview you get in 3rd person is not in any way realistic, if you want to know what around a corner you should need to peek it, not just stand near the corner and look with 3rd person. You do have a point on the last one, but I seriously don't get how the other ones are in any way better than first person, maybe you do get a tactical overview with 3rd person, but you can have as much situational awareness on first person camera, if you are any kind of "good" in any fps it's not to hard to be aware of the situations you are in. Almost everyone seems to play on 3rd person servers because a lot of people take the easy way and just use 3rd person, leaving not a lot of 1st person only servers, and for some (like myself) leaving no 1st person only servers close enough to get less than 300 ping, I use 1st person only because I just don't like 3rd person, and I always find myself at a disadvantage because everybody peeks corner without exposing themselves I don't see any of you reason having any advantage over 1st person and in fact 3rd person takes away from the immersion which is not what rocket intended at first, in fact, DayZ servers at the beggining were 1st person only

But still, what would be the point of that, if now you get such a low field of view increase, then that would be even more pointless, so it's would be first person view with a not 100% transparent torso in the middle of the screen, if it's not transparent at all then it would give you less FOV than first person view, maybe more peripheral view, but if you have a torso in the middle of the screen you can barely tell what directly in front of you, and a kinda transparent torso would help too much, cause it would make it hard to spot things while trying to look though your torso so it would be better being on first person view. Give me 3 reasons to keep 3rd person and I'll change my mind about it's uselessness and stop thinking it's just a tool to make the game easier, and I want good reasons, not like oh, some people get motion sick on first person, because those are the kinds of people that aren't clever enough to look at the game settings and see that you can turn the head bobbing off

That is the only real way to fix the exploits, but then it would be better to use first person view cause it is the same thing without a head blocking you view Most people that play DayZ, probably play other FPS games, so I call BS on the "motion sickness on 1st person thing" and if you really get that legit, then there is a slider that reduces the head bobbing, the only real excuse now to keep 3rd person is to see your new clothes or your new backpack, you now have a character model on the inventory menu, so your argument is invalid.

    It would be boring, all small towns/cities in the US are pretty much the same thing, the only thing that is different are the landmarks and stuff, but everything zombie related is cliche if it happens in the US, think of another country people! Americans are not the only people that has guns all over the place.

    Dude BF3 is like that on consoles because in if was the same, you would get 10 fps, now you get 30 fps and sometimes it drops when there's a lot of action on the screen, I'm not sure if that's what you mean but that usually what people mean

    Dude don't worry, it's not coming out for xbox anyways, you need more buttons on the controller I think you didn't get the point, it's not like a game is not successful because the community is made out of 10 year old kiddies like CoD's, in fact those frachises will be more successful, because those 10 year old kiddies do not notice if the game was changed or not, let's face it, CoD has had the same graphics since CoD 4, the thing is, that this game's community is not made out of 10 year old kiddies, and if they do bring it out on consoles, the community will get full of 10 year old kids and it will destroy the game, because this game is based off of the community, if the community gets bad, people will stop playing it, just because it's not fun playing this game with a bunch of assholes, it's not fun to be trolled in this game, maybe yoiu can take it in an arcade FPS but in this game it's not that easy to get back at the guy who trolled you, now when we talk about arcade FPS games then the deal is different because you can handle some assholes in a lobby, because you all have the same firepower, just different ability, that's why CoD is successful, because it's filled with fanboys that don't care if it's changed or not, 10 year old kids, or just people that don't care if they are trolled

    The day a mechanic like this works on a game is the day we have to take personality tests when making an account for a game not everybody gets happy about these things because they wouldn't react like that irl so they bash the game and say it's crap
  20. I get it, I think it would be good, but then how would you stay anonymus? You can't, I don't think it would be that great, bvecause it would have a lot of problems, and if it does get implemented the range of it should be like 5 feet or something

    It would be nice to have some sort of visual damage when you crash a vehicle, nonetheless, it's not on the ArmA engine atm so I'd rather not for the initial standalone release, this would make a real delay on the standalone release date

    I agree to the no 50. cals thing,like how had would it be to find a proper working 50 caliber rifle in a zombie apocalypse? And then How freaking hard would it be to find ammo for it? I think the onlt snipers in the game should be the cz550 and the SVD, the cz because it's civilian grade and the svd, because I doubt you would find a m107 in a military base outside the us, so the svd does a good role as the end game rifle, now I dissagree on the chopper part, I think it's good as it is (In the SA, not in the mod, in the SA the choppers are harder to fly, and that's what I mean)

    If you don't think the person who made the mod and basically the game itself can do a good job, then go play defiance, you trust those people right? If you like the defiance/war inc. style you can play WarZ, it's basically war inc with zombies and it's as buggy as defiance on console so that might suit you, if you think they should get people from rockstar because of the third person shooters experience they have, you are wrong, because this is not a third person shooter, ArmA only has the third person camera because of the periferal view problem, and if you're concerned about the vehicles ArmA 3 has pretty good physics on vehicles maybe if you watched, the "youtube devblogs that took a 4 year old to put together" you'd know that the game is already on private alpha so the game is made, they are only adding some more features and finishing the map, don't tell me they are taking too long because they have been in development for just over 6 months, and also, what engine would suit more DayZ than the engine it was created on, war inc is a crappy game, the graphics are not great, the maps are small, and defiance is no too great either, maybe the game itself is nice, I haven't played it, but it certainly does not look appealing, DayZ already has it's audience, I mean ArmA sold 1 million copies because of DayZ and Bohemia didn't spend a penny on advertisement, the mod wasn't able to be polished enough because it is a mod, it's not the modders fault, it''s because the game and the engine does not have the capabilities of doing so, plus if it was a polished game, how much do you think they could polish a game in a year? battlefield 3 is a 2 year old title and there are still bugs from beta, big fixing takes time, first you need to know what causes the bug in the game, if it's a vehicle moving too fast, if it's a shot landing in a specific are, etc... and then you need to find what's causing it in the code, then find a way to fix it, it's not childs play you know. Also all those interviews and meetings are important, rocket has stated that there is where they meet the gamers that will play this game, and he gets feedback from them, this game is going to be perfect, everybody is going to love it, because it was made based off of the community's ideas, it's not like rocket came in dictator style saying I want this and that and I don't give a damn about what the community says. If they sold the game to another company to develop it, it would take maybe even up to 2 years to make it, those 2-5 guys working on this game when they have full time jobs that aren't this game, are more people, you still think DayZ is a project made by rocket and his friends in his garage? DayZ is a full project by Bohemia interactive, the people working on DayZ are working on it full time, sure they have other things on other games, but the only game bohemia has in "development" right now other than DayZ is AmrA 3, and that's in alpha, so they're just bug fixing by now. Also, DayZ is not coming out on Xbox 360, it might come out on One, but certainly not in the near future, it has beenm stated that if DayZ succeeds, they will port it to mac, and then they would see if it is possible and if it is profitable to port over to console If you want an arcade shooter with no bullet drop, play CoD, you basically want another game, if you and a ZOMBIE SURVIVAL GAME it's supposed to be ralistic (not in terms of zombies but on terms of the other stuff) that's where the SURVIVAL comes in, DayZ takes skill to be good at, arcade shooters don't I've played BF3 for more than a year and I'm an average player, I played CoD for a month and I felt like an MLG pro, arcade games are just easy and hey, BF3 still kinda comes into the arcade shooter category, DayZ is supposed to be a hardcore, punishing, hard survival apocalypse game, not "defiance" or "war inc" this game is just not aimed at casual gamers. You do know that developers don't get any money from offering pre-order, in case you didn't know, when you pre-order, you are basically reserving yourself a unit of the game when whoever is shipping it to you gets it into stock, you pay it the day it gets shipped, not when you place the order Dude do you even understand the way an engine works? Do you think you can go ahead and grab any engine and throw in a 400+ squared kilometers map and have the graphics of ArmA 3 and not have a buggy and crapy game? as I stated before, War inc's graphics are not too good, the maps are the size of kamenka, and it still is a bit buggy, why do you think BF3 doesn't have 128 player servers like MAG and maps the size of chenarus, because the engine does not allow it in it's current state, the engines are optimized for each game, you can't simply take the files or whatever engine and make whatever you want in it, it has limitations
