  1. For me, it just boils down to the level of ammo I have. I usually do have my rifle out considering I usually have a good amount of ammo available. I always work in a team with my friends, one of us will attract the zombies, run into a building and kill them while the others start their run through the town and loot things. Once they're done, they attract zombies while the other gets to loot. And, since we work in teams and usually look over the city before we go in, other people have never been a problem. If we see someone, we simply tell them that if they kill one of us, we'll strike back harder than they struck us (we have yet to do this, but that entails following them back to their camp, killing them, and destroying everything). People usually heed the warning, and in turn I usually help them out for not being dicks. Even if I'm alone, I don't worry about it too much. I'm to the point where I'm not so intimidated by zombies as I once was. If you want to lose them, all you have to do is run through a building or two then go prone. Of if you're stuck, they line up pretty nicely for you to kill them. Once you learn how to lose them, you'll feel a bit better about carrying a rifle around. Even if it is loud as hell (like the Enfield, which is one of my more common choices since ammo for it spawns in abundance). But, to the last point, the hatchet is actually a great weapon. I still use it occasionally, especially if I'm on a supply run and I dont want my weapons taking up so much inventory space.

How bad is the hacking in this game?

I've only encountered two hackers the whole time I've played this game. You just have to find the right server, the flip side is that I play on a low-pop server, so I don't have as much of the human element as I'd like. But it's not too bad. I would recommend that you just wait for the standalone game to come out if you don't have a lot of money to throw around. But if you have a steady income with money to spare, go ahead and buy it. Even with the occasional hacker, it's a fun game.
  3. I don't trust anyone, but I don't go full bandit either. If I see someone in an area I was going to go to, I'll watch them leave before I go in. If they're in trouble, I'll help them from a distance with my sniper then leave the area, but if helping them means I have to go in and be within killing distance of them, I'll let them die. There's never any reason to be near any players unless you don't know they're there, in which case I'll shoot at them even if they say friendly. There's not enough room in this game to be completely friendly.

    You monster!

    Good experiences

There's a lot of topics on how annoying bandits are, how pissed off you are about being killed, etc. Let's be positive for a few minutes. What are some instances where you were either saved, helped, or had a good experience with another player? Or anything nice you've done for other players. Personally today I went to my tent and saw that someone had set up a tent right next to mine. I cautiously made my way over to check my inventory and saw that not one thing had been touched. I walked around a little more and saw that there were about 4 other tents in the area and still my stash was safe. I opened up the tent nearest to mine and noticed the player didn't have a lot, so I went and found him a double barrel shotgun and put it in his tent. I'm working on getting whoever it is a decent amount of ammo as well, just to say thanks. I don't mind the bandit aspect of this game, and if my stuff had been stolen it would have been my fault for not making sure the area was clear and hidden. But still, it was nice to see that not one of my items were gone even though I have a lot of useful stuff. Your turn, GOGOGO

How to put items inside the backpack?

Open your inventory by pressing "G", click on the backpack, and click open backpack. You won't really see it open, but it actually is. From there just go to anything in your inventory, highlight it on your list, and click the left arrow button by the item. You should be good.

Why i stopped beeing nice to people...

We've all encountered assholes in this game. If you're going to stop being nice because you're fed up with that, it's fine. But it just happens. I got killed quite a few times the other day by the same few people, and I didn't fire on them initially because I didn't know if it was them or another survivor. I'll probably be a bit more harsh when it comes to determining when it comes to shooting or not, but I just don't sweat it. I don't usually carry a lot on me anyways. It does suck that you were just trying to help, but it is what it is dude.

    Toasting in an awesome bread.

    Preferred Installer

DayZ Commander is by far the best one I've used. I tried Play with Six first and I couldn't get the game to launch, the interface was a little weird, etc. DayZ Commander is very straight forward, you can easily down-grade your versions if you want to play on a server running an older update, and it's launched the game seamlessly for me thus far.
  10. To the guy who played Wu Tang clan before killing me, my tent was right next to you and you didn't touch a thing. Just wanted to say massive derp on your part. *Continues to enjoy all the really nice stuff I have* Also, I hope you enjoyed my dance.

To those who look down on bandits/pvp...

Skype is used by people in every other PC game to keep an isolated chat between them and their friends. It isn't a problem anywhere else, so what makes DayZ so different? Banning people for using it is pretty rash. Scripts on the other hand, is a problem.
  12. Prototape

    Why am I being punished?

I live in Pacific Time and I've encountered nothing but daytime servers. You're doing something wrong. As suggested earlier, just use DayZ Commander.

To those who look down on bandits/pvp...

I like bandits, they keep the game fresh. Yeah I hate being killed, but it forces me to go out and rebuild what I lost. I won't be a bandit, but I appreciate their presence.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

I imagine they're working on that. For a game that takes patience, the community sure doesn't exercise it. OT: Really excited to see what's in store for the future of this game. I'm glad they were given the opprotunity to do this.
  15. Prototape

Is there any humanity in DayZ

There's a lot of nice people. I've had mostly good experiences in this game, and while I haven't had the opprotunity I'll try to keep it going by helping someone if they need it. And yes there are people who kill you for your stuff, but that's a part of the game. People get into DayZ knowing there are bandits, and still get mad when they're killed by one. It just happens, you have to learn to go with it.
