Private server options can't come soon enough.

You aren't serious, right?

Are you proposing a refinery? I'm down with that. -

I don't get it. Seems like everything that was fun in the original mod, is targeted for a ban or subjected to a ridiculous poll by the playerbase. Some of you like to walk around for hours and I get that. The game needs to cater to many people, some of which enjoy vehicles & aircraft, and not made to feel like they're being alienated due to the fact they dislike wandering in the woods for hours. -
Many players still enjoy the Mod and welcome the updates. Thanks for all of the hard work!

Should I invest my time in 1st Person Servers?

I kinda have to agree here. Too many drastic changes from the game I'm accustomed to. Some are forgetting how nice it was to fly and drive in third person. -
I wish the Devs would decide what's going to be in the game considering it's no longer a free mod. With all due respect, game balance isn't easy, but I don't want to be stuck with .22 rifles and single load shotguns.

It's an Alpha.

Well done Sire. -
Sorry, nobody is going to wait 15 minutes to rejoin their favorite server especially playing with friends. If the mod was any lesson, kicks happen frequently and for various reasons. The SA will probably not be any different or at least until many of the bugs are sorted, but never eliminated. I'm interested to see what course the team takes to resolve the issue. The recurring theme among users here on possible fixes include some sort of time delay. Adding more delays and restrictions is a sure fire way to induce frustration for legit players whos time is better spent playing than watching a countdown timer. Yeah, I'm gonna have to disagree on the "rarely any hacks and glitchers". There is no doubting the public hives for the mod were a disaster and with no way for the admin to fix the mess directly, you were basically screwed. The private hives for the mod were no better despite having the ability to rollback. If your server was even remotely popular, you'd get hit all day long. There's no easy answer and am sure the team is well aware of these issues and the best course of action. Only time will tell if they're able to deal with it in a manner that's effective, but isn't overbearing to the point of not wanting to even bother playing.

I've used Satchels when outnumbered or bleeding out near death in a firefight. I hated the fact that Satchels wouldn't detonate upon dying even though the timer was set. Goodtimes.

Sounds alot like a private hive....

How about something that doesn't reduce speed to 20 mph simply because one tire came in contact with some grass? A couple of different Cessnas would be nice.

I believe charcoal should induce explosive diareahl?

So, is Dayz the exception? First and foremost, I'm a fan of Dayz and want to see the game succeed or I wouldn't be wasting my time here. To say I didn't find certain aspects of the mod dull would be a lie, but going to war in a forum due to voicing my opinion is stupid. I really enjoy reading threads that have constructive debates and opinions that reflect the direction the development team chose to take. Sure, there was a time I loved the Battlefield series (namely BF2), but felt every evolution lacked "soul". A game in which every weapon has 100 configurations and thousands of pointless medals after every round simply masks over the core of what made the franchise successful to begin with. The longer I played BF4, the more it seemed like I was playing a slot machine. With all that, there is no denying clunky delayed movement and interaction with simple things like doors and ladders will probably end up remaining as is among other things. The smooth and easy character movements one would think is a given in any modern day release just doesn't exist. There's no doubt the team will add alot of content, but we'll eventually see how well that content gets integrated. Which brings up the next point. What exactly is going to constitute when the game moves out of the "Alpha" phase? Or, even the transition into the final product? Is there a timeline on achieving these objectives, months, years, never?

If this .22 is going to have the equivalent stopping power of the Makarov, what's the point? The only time I see players use it is in situations in which they were desperado for gear. Even in this case, it was better to run than unload on your enemy. I'm not criticizing excitement for the weapon, but how can the devs boost its ability over higher tier'd weapons without ruining the balance between them? If it will take 5 rounds to do the same damage the Hunting Rifle can do in one, why bother? My guess is it will need some type of special ability to seperate it from the pack or the hatchet will probably end up being the goto weapon of choice.

If you're a hunter, .22 rounds are good for small game. Of course there are exceptions, but anything with a heavier coat will just piss it off or maim it inflicting needless pain. I'm not a fan of rimshot firearms and most of the ammo is so cheap because the production standards are garbage. Police or military using these rounds are not buying them at your local Wallyworld. Like anything else, quality ammunition costs money.

If this is the case, the final price should be directly correlated to the finished product.

Is it possible to have an intelligent discussion or debate on here sans the ridiculous hipster photos and quotes?
-
He has some valid points here. I feel like I wasted $60 on Arma 3 due to the lack of content and major issues with the engine itself.

If we're aiming for realism, no resident is going to have a silencer for a .22 caliber rifle, an auto feed, bipods, or tactical lights. In most civilized nations, merely possessing a silencer is a federal offense. If we wanna get even more real, we can glance over the guns laws in eastern block countries and see exactly what residents are allowed to own (if anything at all).

If you ever had a chance to fire the Ruger pistol in real life, you'd realize just how much of a piece of garbage it is. Lacking any serious firepower aside, the biggest issue is persistent jamming rendering it unreliable. Glock all the way.
