Am I the only person that really doesn't care for 'base building'?
ihaywirei replied to Target Practice (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The thing about base building in the mod that i dont like is that its not a necessity and its only to stockpile guns and vehicles. I think it would be a cool idea if you had to set up camp before you logged out for a long period of time. This would include a tent or a bed or sleeping bag or something similar. It feels weird to me that i can log out for a week IRL and come back to my character still being alive. If you needed to log out at a camp it would add importance to making a base and also give you a sense of having a real home to go back to at the end of every playing session. However DayZ is a game and this might be too much and there are probably better ways to accomplish base building -
3rd Party Interaction, and why it ruins the game
ihaywirei replied to applejaxc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Right. There is no possible way to stop people from communicating outside of the game. So banning the use of TS, Skype, etc will only cause an inconvenience to people who want to use these programs, but it will not stop them from finding a work around. It would probably not go over well with the large majority of people playing DayZ and end up hurting the game more than helping. If i had to use a 3rd party way to voice chat, not on my pc, i certainly wouldnt be communicating in game at all. And i would guess that many people would end up doing the same. -

This is a video game. If i want to talk to my friends while playing this video game, i will do so. Call it cheating if you want, but you are wrong. /thread -
I was just making a joke by the way. I was more on the side of not liking the cans but at this point i dont really care about it as i was taken hold by the hivemind for a brief time there

New Food and Drinks Names
ihaywirei replied to NewClearWinter (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I dont think its any of your names in particular and i do like to see mod appreciation in the game. For me its that the items seem too childish to belong in this game. -

i want a hardcore zombie survival horror game. i dont expect things like "derpy hooves canned muffins" to be a food choice in this so called hardcore zombie survival game. (no offense to derpy hooves) -

i dont find the new item names to be funny or clever. And i dont like saying to my friend 'here i have a mzly yzly for ya. ill drop it'. Why not just stick to the basics. That said, these new items take away from the serious tone i feel this game has considering they are all parodies of real life items. Just saying -
What's the most unrealistic thing you've ever survived?
ihaywirei replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i was on top of electro hospital one time when a guy climbed up the latter behind me and started shooting at me. I turned and strafed off of the roof and landed on the street with broken legs but was still alive. Then i was lunch for some zombies. Not sure the height that you can fall and still live but i figured that was pretty unrealistic. -
is dayz 100% PvP on the long term?
ihaywirei replied to _Anubis_ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
there may not be a big in-game benefit from random strangers, but some of the most fun times ive had is when i meet somebody in the game and then things happen. To me sometimes playing with IRL friends over skype evolves the game into more of a pvp experience because you want to find them in game, get the best loot, kill bandits, etc. When somebody dies its all about finding them and gearing them back up which gets monotonous at times. -
Here, let's all describe DayZ in one word

If nobody killed on sight this game would not be fun. Be careful what you wish for anti kos peoples -

Should Heli Crash Sites be marked on the Map?
ihaywirei replied to klesh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i say absolutely no. It would be better if the spawns were even less predictable as well. -
Paying 1 Euro for one life 10 for 10e w/e, not requiring to buy the game, how would your playstyle be on such terms?
ihaywirei replied to DreyX's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You guys are all completely missing the point of this thread. Wow. He's not asking if 'you would pay to play 1 life', he's asking hypothetically how your gameplay would change knowing theres a real life consequence for dying, which is losing your dollar. Put all hacking/exploits/bugs aside as well at least i think this is what op was going for
