The thing is, your not buying DayZ "again". You would be buying it for the first time. You bought Arma 2 to play a free mod (as did I). That's our own problem. However, I think by the time DayZ is released as a standalone title, this mod alone will have more than justified the 30 dollars I spent on CO. And when DayZ is released, I will gladly pay more for the finished game.

"fixed graphical glitches" MY ASS
X_296 replied to austendude's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The only thing that works for me is restarting my game. Flush doesn't work and neither does changing the settings in anyway. If this was a complete game, I would make a big deal out of it. But it's not, it's just a mod that's in alpha. It's to be expected. -
Not all hackers are bad. Now, let me explain before you take that out of context. Last night I was running along some railroad tracks when two guys on a quad come down the tracks. Just for the hell of it I shot at them, I wasn't trying to hit them though, I was aiming well above them. They turn around, chase me down and start circling around me. Fearing they were going to run me over, I shot them for real. I killed the passenger and unloaded all 3 mags of my AK-47 into the driver. He ran me over and broke my legs. He then disappeared. Two minutes later I was crawling down the tracks and I hear foot steps so I turn my flashlight on. In front of me is the guy that ran me over. This time I get a good look at him. He has a character that looks exactly like Jason Voorhees, hockey mask and all. It was kinda creepy, especially with the red glow from my military flashlight on him. Anyway, I apologize and ask for morphine. He speaks to me in a voice that's creepy as hell, I couldn't understand him though, and he disappears. 30 seconds later he comes back, this time he puts morphine in my backpack, and creeps me out again with his demonic sounding voice and then he left. I thank him in the side chat and apologize again. Point is, this guy could have very easily killed me at anytime. But he saved me even though I killed his friend. Hacker, yes. But an awesome hacker.

I think most people will agree. Earlier today, I was killed, and respawned near Kamenka. I started for Cherno. As I ran past Kamenka I aggro'd about 6 zombies, I wasn't being careful at all. Then about 300 meters down the shore, I see a guy in a bandit outfit. When he got close he spoke. I couldn't quite make out what he said but I think it was, "Hey man, your being chased by zombies. I don't want you to die." And then he ran into the zombies and aggro'd them for himself. Saved my life. I almost shed a tear for his bravery. As I continued down the coast, I was nearing a factory. Just as I got to the fence, I was killed by a sniper. I'm almost certain it was the same guy that killed me just 20 minutes earlier while I was cooking some meat because it was very close to where I set up my campfire.

I don't believe that is necessary. I am new and have only played for a few days. But from what I have seen so far, the majority of the people do not play purely for PvP. And even if most people do play for PvP, why shouldn't the remainder of people play the game for what it is, survival. Sure your gonna die. But if you play smart i'm certain you can live longer and have more fun doing so.

Hey all. I just wanted to introduce myself to the community and my first - and imo, incredible - experience with DayZ. My name is Michael. My Steam name is X_296. I like pizza, movies, video games. Blah blah. Enough of the courtesies. So I have to admit, I did buy Arma 2: CO purely to play DayZ. I have lost much of my interest in FPS. But an MMO zombie survival? I just had to play it. Once I had gotten Arma and DayZ installed, I did have some trouble finding a suitable server at first. I got stuck at the loading screen on a few. I had no more than 2 fps on another. But when I connected, it was all good. I connected to the server and I had (barely) acceptable framerate. I don't remember where I started, but it was pretty far from any big cities. I wandered aimlessly for a bit, I was completely lost, I had no ide where I was going. I went inland a little bit and I saw a few houses and a barn. I went into the barn and I found a crossbow with three bolts. My first weapon, pretty sweet. After that I didn't find much else. I then started heading back to the coast. By the time I reached it, my thirst icon was flashing red. I was thinking, "Great. I'm gonna die of thirst. This is pathetic." I started running up the coast. Trying to find something to quench my thirst. After about 5 minutes, I made it to a small town. I went into the first building I saw, and there was a Pepsi can. I was happy. I was going to live a bit longer. I drank it and went to the next room and found a Czech backpack. I dropped the one I had, and being the noob I am, couldn't figure out how to pick up the new pack. I couldn't pick up my old one either. Thinking they were bugged, I left. Not 50 feet from the door, I was disconnected. After I logged back in, I was right where I left off. I continued on. I ducked quickly into some near by bushes to hide while I talked to my girlfriend real quick. Then out of nowhere another player runs just inches in front of me. I freaked out, dropped what I was doing, and got out of there. He didn't see me, thank god. Needless to say, I forgot I was talking to my girlfriend. After about 10 minutes, I reached another, slightly larger, town. By this time, my food icon was bright red. I wasn't being very careful, i was trying to move as quickly as possible to find some food. Consequently, I attracted a couple zombies. I ran into the first open house, killed one of them. But i lost my last crossbow bolt, thankfully there was a crowbar in the house. I picked it up, attacked the zombie, and was knocked out before I could kill him. I thought I was dead. The zombie was chomping on my legs as I impatiently watched the hourglass go down. By the time I woke up and got away from the zombie and bandaged myself, I had only 600 blood left. The zombie was glitched in the doorway, and couldn't attack me, so I killed him with the crowbar. I was so close to dying and I was passing out every 2 minutes. At this point, I didn't care much. So I just ran out of the town. Once I was clear, I started sprinting towards the closest thing I saw, which was a small airstrip with two hangers. I dove down into the field in front of the hangers and I heard two gunshots from the ATC tower. I looked, didn't see anything, didn't care. I then looked to my right. There was a sheep. By this time my food had been flashing for about 10 minutes. I shot the sheep with my last bolt (which I was able to recover from the zombie I shot earlier) and gutted it. I was lucky enough to have found a knife, hatchet and matches in one of the previous towns. I took the meat, ran to the nearest patch of trees, got some wood and started a fire. I was saved from the brink of death. My blood went up to just under 3 thousand. I then ran back to the tower and found the guy that was shooting had fallen to his death off of the tower. I retrieved an AKM and one mag. I quickly found a small military medical base. In it, I found only one thing, a Coyote backpack. I figured out how to pick it up and left. After a short run, I found my first major city. I don't know which one, I just know it had a big hotel in the middle. I quickly found medical supplies, food, drinks, a watch, binoculars, a compass. I then heard 4 shots from an assault rifle and a single sniper shot. I got kind of nervous. I was in no hurry to get to the side of town the shots came from. But when I did, i found two dead bodies behind a small grocery store. I didn't hesitate to search them. I found another AKM with 4 mags and an M1911 on one. On the other, I found an SVD Camo with 3 mags, a map, a GPS, nightvision goggles and a toolbox. In his pack was 4 cooked pieces of meet which I ate and brought my blood to about 6 thousand. An there was also an L85A2 AWS. It's my understanding that this is one of the rarest guns in the game. However, there was no ammo for it. And I didn't want to lug around a weapon with no ammo, however rare it may be. I left town, hid myself and logged of for the night. Sorry for such the long post, I wasn't planning on writing this much. But it was such an enjoyable first day for me. Oh, in case you were wondering, yes, my girlfriend is mad at me for ignoring her while I played my game.

Yeah, it was a great first life. Unfortunately I didn't have the same luck today. I made it to Electro no problem. Then I hear VERY loud gunshots. I sounded like the 50 cal. sniper. I'm no expert though, so don't take my word on that. But against my better judgment I went to check it out. Not 10 seconds after I see about a dozen dead bodies, I drop dead. I knew I should have just left when I heard those shots. Oh well. Live, learn, die and live again, right?
