Great post Youve just done all the hard work for them! It sounds great especially since we are suppposed to be playing a realistic game. It would always be hard to hit someone standing from a distance with any gun without bracing or practice. I also suggest they implement weapon bracing similar to red orchestra where if the players gun is next to a solid object.. eg tree, wall, sandbag the gun is almost perfectly steady (as it would be). So if a long distance shot is to be taken a player can crouch for slightly better stability, prone or find a tree to rest up against. Also i think Dayz should have "combat fitness" where the longer the player is alive, the more skilled and tougher at certain aspects they are. A noob would have wobbly aim where a hardened warrior would have his skills in tune. This should go for fitness too and amount of stamina. So an out of breath, hardened survivor would recover quicker. Therefore a reason to stay alive apart from gear

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

If only they would listen to us... -
I hear ya man, i was trying to play the friendly game but i just snapped the other day, i found a mk48 mod 0 and 400 rounds and walked through Cherno like it was the end scene of Rambo 1. I got through 300 rounds, about 150 zombies and about 15 humans human players of any skin i saw. I shot anything! rabbits, zombies, unarmed survivors, nothing survived for 30mins. Before i got hack killed and respawned as a bandit (id started the life before as hero) and after 30 mins of running thru the forest im back to survivor skin. I feel better now :)

I am eagerly awaiting the standalone and i will keep playing the alpha as i have sometimes weeks at a time without being disrupted by hackers. Lately there has been an increase in hacking on my favourite servers and i think everyone has to realize that with the hacks available they can see you anywhere on the map, no matter what your hiding spot is teleport to you at anytime, have any gun or equipment they want, have invulnerability and stand in front of you and kill you whilst u shoot a clip into their skull. Not to mention they can instantly kill anyone or everyone on the server or teleport us all together for a 30 second blast-fest. The ridiculous thing is u know who the guy is, and u can see it happening but battleeye looks away probably busy banning someone innocent. Its sad too because its all software, the point of software is you can make it do what you want. Battleye is failed software, and bohemia are a nerdy bunch of east european game geniuses that tried to give people an open engine game to be creative with but did not expect the douchebaggy-ness of ur common household sweaty palmed, heavily masturbating script kiddie to want to ruin other people's game experience. U just have to keep playing, enjoy the good moments and embrace dying because spawning with nothing is most of the fun.

I only just read this on the wiki after i suggested it foolishly on the forum.... "Players who become Heroes also gain the perk of being able to run slightly faster than Survivors and Bandits. They also have a bullet resistant vest that will block most low calibre bullets such as makarov or m9 rounds. You will still receive shock, however you will not take any damage nor bleed." Im glad i found this out, i thought people wanted to be heroes just to look more stylish in their designer shirts. I might try and be a good guy, but i wish u got humanity for killing bandits, giving out beans and morphine is a bit too nicey nice for me. A bounty system for nasty bandits with humanity reward points. Could that work? (im not putting it in the suggestions yet)

If there was only one fix for the alpha i wish it was duping, i dont care about broken legs from tree roots and buggy zombies or gun-eating backpacks. There doesnt seem to be many hackers around either now.Theres no one anywhere on the map except for the 2 cities and its totally boring! Too many duping tents and too easy to dupe personal items and too tempting. Just fix that and work on the standalone and id be happy.

Hero skins should include kevlar vests and the extra protection it gives
JimmyMeatsock posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If hero skins had a physical advantage, then a lot more people would want to become one. Bandits and survivors would be without extra protection of course and it could not be taken off a hero corpse, as u cant loot clothes presently anyway. -

JimmyMeatsock replied to JimmyMeatsock's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think the hero deserves a reward, in a situation like that fellow survivors would be grateful for someone who wants to help. (eg. old lady gives mad max shotty shells in mad max 2) and he would end up better equipped. Bandits shouldnt be worried unless their trying to kill heroes with makarovs, bandits get their rewards all the time such as backpacks full of loot and the satisfaction they just shot an unarmed player who only had a tin can and a bandage. and btw heroes already had better abilities so uve been dealing with it for ages. P.s I was thinking bandits should subtle fly buzzing, bandits are always stinky. do they already? coz after my one murder (double satchel bombing) i swear i have the odd fly buzzing round me now -
Helicopter crashes, do they ruin the intensity?
JimmyMeatsock replied to jdz (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I used to go to the airfield and it was so intense and scary! about 6 times i got nothing very special. I dreamed of having NV goggles back then. Untill i finally found a MK48 mod 0 which i only fired once on a wandering sheep and then was killed approaching a deer stand (always check if someones in there first). I have never seen a crash site and ive been all over the map many times. But now i can run for 10 minutes up the west side of the map and find some tents full of as50's, satchel bombs, gps, nv, whatever... and it feels stupid. (there was a tent there with 45 tents inside it) Who need crash sites and buildings when u have campsites/weapons factories lined up the left side of the map. Maybe we should lose tents, it might make things better. -

holy crap it does too! i feel quite the fool. Its hard to find these things out unless u read the wiki cover to cover. Thats cool, an actual reason to be a hero. -
I was trying to think of some activities to do in Dayz. Just surviving gets boring when u are tooled up and i would like some suggestions. They would either be nasty or nice though I suppose so they would be in two categories or maybe even neutral. Here are some quick ones I was thinking about starting from the basics.... Shooting bandits Shooting players Bandit spawn hunting? Fixing up vehicles Fixing up helicopters and then machine gunning the shit out of things. Scaring people over direct chat Satchel bombing buildings when people enter. Roadside Satchel Bombs for passing vehicles! Satchels beside bait like vehicles and tents. Kidnapping players and making them have axe fights Robbing players at gunpoint Protecting new players Giving new players supplies. Bird watching? Axe murdering sprees Hog vaulting Handgun rabbit shooting Throwing tin cans at zombies Starting a bus service Car racing, maybe drag racing down the airfield runway. Bike and motorbike racing Midnight rave parties in the bush with road flares and techno music over direct chat If anyone has some interesting suggestions id like to hear more.

So someone put an M107 in my tent.
JimmyMeatsock replied to Muncywolverine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I left an m107 in someones tent once too. Can someone explain how tents actually work now since the latest patch? I often leave guns in exchange for others in tents but when i go back another day its all full of the same stuff. Can u save someone elses tent? Does any of their stuff actually go missing if i take it? If i put up my own tent will it keep saving new stuff if i add it? Tents are confusing -
sweet i will organize the rave! Can we trigger the dance moves ourselves? or can only hackers do that? Oh yeh about the over abundance of as50's and such. I have found so many tents filled with so much ridiculous shit lately Satchels, nv gogs gps , pretty much most of the guns in the game. (eg. a campsite with 20 or so tents) Its actually stupid and i preferred it when i was excited to find a box of matches and an ak.

aww isnt that nice you gave me some beans. Aren't you worried i might get addicted to beans though?

Loading forever fixed!!... Manually updating 1.7.2.5 works for me
JimmyMeatsock posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This title will hopefully reach all those frustrated players watching the loading screen. Following the advice from scavenger from another post i downloaded the torrent from http://dayzmod.com/f...rolling-update/ installed the files manually and voila! it worked. I had previously reinstalled battle eye and validated my arma files but no luck. I think six updater definately rolls you back to the last version. My dayz had worked but i think id accidently started six updater instead of dayz commander and this where the problems started. I hope this helps. -
Nice deathmatch you got there
JimmyMeatsock replied to KillCam96's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
rewards in the form of weapons and gear would be nice for killing wanted bandits -
it is apparantly after i gorged myself on 3 pigs and a goat!

JimmyMeatsock replied to KillCam96's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I still havent killed a person but im glad theres bandits in the mod. Some people are just nasty. Ive been shot ruthlessly for a can of beans and a bandage but ive met friendly people too. I like the fact the cities are a scary dangerous place. As long as no one hacks, any strategy is fine. In a real world apocalypse i think ud find many irrational and selfish people that u may have to put a bullet in urself. -
Be a man and hunt dem pigs. I was down to 300 blood the other night and after 2 hrs of pig hunting got back to 12000 with 5 steaks to spare

My first Human kill (and murder), followed by a suicidal rage against the world.

My first Human kill (and murder), followed by a suicidal rage against the world.
JimmyMeatsock replied to Carnage752's topic in New Player Discussion
I have yet to kill someone, Ive been playing for about a week and i dont know when its going to happen. Ive been shot at 3 times without warning, one time which i was killed. I "mysteriously" dropped to the ground dead once and one time i had the pleasure of visiting the thunderdome to be killed by a nice man in a gilly suit with a giant gun. I havent actually seen many people in game yet mostly because i like to stealth in at night time. One encounter i saw a guy who was bleeding, and he said "hi" on voice so i killed the zombies trying to violate him. I was so confused by my first human contact that i didnt concentrate and got "rear admiralled" by a dirty looking zombie with a hat. My other strange contact was when music started getting closer to me whilst hiding in a barn in the pitch black. A guy in a gilly suit dashed up the stairs and round the corner, i didnt shoot, then on my screen it said "backpack removed" and then he said "urs" in text on the screen. I thought he was a hacker so i disconnected quickly but it actually ended up with dayz crashing out to windows When i reconnected everything was in order. I feel bad now, i didnt want to be cowardly, i just didnt want my shit hacked or another lame death from a script kiddie. My first few hrs of dayz was filled with ridicuouls amounts of hacking from other players which at first i didnt even know about till reading stuff on the net. That would explain why im dancing all the time and flying into the air and visiting thunderdomes. The games obviously too hard for them without scripts. If im going to kill someone in dayz id like to kill someone like that first. -
the terror i feel playing dayz is definately adult rated. The full game should be R. Then they can go all out with the gore and violence too. Theres plenty of other games for the kiddies to play
-
It would be nice if they worked on zombies. Considering we're supposed to experiencing realism here.

Loading forever fixed!!... Manually updating 1.7.2.5 works for me
JimmyMeatsock replied to JimmyMeatsock's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Im sorry man id hoped id found the magical solution. I still see posts about people using six launcher which presently rolls u back to 1.7.2.4 and wondering why they cant connect. A lot of people seem to be having success using dayz commander and im sure now its a wrong version thing. When i manually updated i went back to 3 or 4 mins loading and everything was back to normal. My process was ..delete dayz folder, use six launcher to download the update, validate integrity of game cache for arma 2 and arma CO, (repaired one file in each), (i tried no success at this point), reboot, then i went to the besetup folder and reinstalled battleeye, (tried again no success), then downloaded the torrent for 1.7.2.5, downloaded that, ran it and pasted the contents into my the folder in my dayz directory and then it finally worked. Back to normal. No more loading, and im back to playing, wondering when im gunna get hacked again.
