I'm bloody done with this deathmatch game
Cavan replied to puffu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Alive Characters: 343,102 Survival Attempts: 10,174,596 Murders: 1,554,315 Bandits Alive: 63,383 Bandits killed: 267,964 Figured I would cut the bullshit and just link the stats, is there any evidence you can suggest otherwise that this is a 'deathmatch'? You are a moron, plain and simple. -
Sniping and female characters
Cavan replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Look at what I actually said and then look at what you responded to. I never questioned any relationships or sexuality or people's capacity for said things. I pointed out that valuing female sprites in the way the OP seems to suggest creepy and kinda pathetic. -

You are now one with every creepy pathetic person who has ever given that justification :/. Also no, that's like asking if I would not shoot somebody for picking the black guy face. -
Unless we get flags/effects for murder, this game will just be Deathmatch.
Cavan replied to PinkTaco24's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm sure glad everybody claiming 'deathmatch' knows all the numbers and statistics to back up such a well educated and non sensationalised argument for what can be the only possibility of things happening. The bandit system was flawed and moronic, a binary system of 'evil' or not when the factors for becoming evil are much more varied than the results in no way improves or enhances gameplay or variety. It gives idiots a safety net telling them what they should do, even when that advice is very easily massively flawed, and that it not what day z is about. It doesn't hand hold you for anything else and the number of people advocating it should hand hold your human interaction actually saddens me. -
remember you can convert m1911 mags to .45 acp and back now, ammo is very much not an issue. the fire rate on the m1911 makes it a much better general defence and PvP weapon. the revolver is better for picking off zombies over about 100m

The loot density is actually fairly well spread out, just because you might find an m107 in the north west barracks doesn't invalidate that DMR you got in stary, or the set of AKMs for your whole team. Balota, stary sobor, multiple churches and supermarkets spread across the maps. The three castles, the deer stands I cannot be bothered to count. Weapons in this game are also generally not the main issue in a game like this, yes they are nice and offer side grades and slight advantages, but a CZ still kills you just as dead and an AK will do 95% of jobs you need it to. Tools are the main issue: NVGs, Ghillie suits, range finders, barbed wire and vehicles etc that really enable you to outperform other people on uneven terms, and these are mostly not uniquely available at the NW barracks.

Was the game better or worse with bandit skin?
Cavan replied to zalman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Everybody who thinks the bandit skin was a bonus and that taking it out has reduced variety are talking baseless self serving nonsense. Anybody advocating a very flawed binary system as a means of variety need to seriously rethink their priorities. Rocket even said that as soon as he can come up with a non flawed humanity system he will begin implementing it, so all this bleating is not only stupid, but pointless. Everybody who even mentions CoD in regards to anything about this mod deserves to have laughing scripted into their game constantly. It made no change, people occasionally trusted bandits and survivors and people occasionally trust survivors and bandits now. -
I signed up for the forums, but unfortunately they're not letting me make a thread aswell. I currently have an SVD camo with a single magazine, and an M14 with 3 magazines, both are for trade if anybody is interested. I would like an m107 if possible. Failing that I would love a DMR with NVGs or an M4A1 HWS GL Camo. I also have 2 spare morphine and about 10 meat if general supplies would improve trading the SVD for something.

I would actually vote for a glock 17 or an m1911. The glock is a better backup weapon when it comes to zombies, the m1911 is a better backup weapon against players. The PDW is overrated, it's not particularly quiet and hitting anything enough with the recoil it has is dodgy, especially with its sights. The m9sd is inaccurate as hell, hard to keep ammo for and not particularly powerful. You sort of lose your silenced advantage if the thing you hit notices it has been hit and either warns its friends or runs at you while making more noise than a gunshot anyway.

No PK server: * The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen *
Cavan replied to Ghandi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Doesn't banning people for PKing go against the rules set down by Rocket? I remember some other servers getting warnings and blacklists for banning people for unsupported reasons. -
weapons I would like to see added: m79 grenade launcher molotovs/more uses for jerry cans and fuel in general P90 because the 50 round magazine would be awesome to have. Maybe some interchangibility between primary/secondary for smgs. I would also like to see the crossbow get its remake.

The story of how I found a bus ft. my baby axe
Cavan replied to Blt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
First off, I don't think the word grammar is what you think it is. If what you said is what you think an example of grammar then you are in no position to be correcting anybody on anything. Second, it IS spelled tyre (if you are not from the part of the world that believes it is somehow the whole world), if you had bothered to check anything before making a tit of yourself you'd have found that out instantly and nobody here would suffer being subjected to your peculiar brand of self righteous idiocy. -
8 days here, I had finally found a loaded helicopter crash and got two pairs of NVGs and a replacement DMR for the one I lost when the game ate my entire inventory and I refused to give up and respawn, the first night I was getting into the feel of using NVGs I stop in the middle of a huge forest of trees north of devil's castle to check my map and drink some tea and I hear sniper+assault fire and suddenly I am dead :/ I was kinda pissed for about 10 minutes,I really wanted to give that 2nd pair of night vision goggles to a friend. Started over this morning and so far i've been lucky enough looting elektro and killing 3 people in a firefight with my m1911 (whom I have now names Nigel just to be creepy and weird) before finding a pair of corpses in a barn (I assume they died shooting each other at the same time) giving me most the tools and an alice pack and medical supplies. That's the thing, your luck may run out eventually but there's usually something to be grateful for when you start over. I'm sure you'll find new gear and new people to kill in the end.

Do you kill if someone beg you to spare them?
Cavan replied to BaitedHook's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think it says a lot more about you purely from the fact you're capable of accepting that kind of fallacy. -
I posted a similar suggestion involving bleeding players leaving a 'scent trail' as well as a visible trail for both zombies and players to find. I don't so much like this idea unless there's some criteria for making it happen such as recently bleeding or running around a lot or something. I feel like it would get annoying without that.
-
The chance to break bones from being punched by a zombie is actually really low. I feel like morphine is perhaps now a little rare, but it was too easy before. In terms of suggestions I would prefer it if you could half fix the problem of having broken legs which slowed you down or limited you to walking. Say for example wood+bandages=leg splint (allows you to walk), taking painkillers ontop of this allows you to run at reduced speed for x minutes. That would make morphine still a valuable commodity to trade/find/kill other people for, but doesn't make having broken legs this all or nothing situation.
-
Simple suggestion, did do a quick search and surprisingly didn't find anything on this, I think this could replace the slightly forced interest zombies currently try to have in player corpses. It would be nice if when a player is bleeding they leave a visible trail of blood on the ground that attracts zombies and can be seen by players to allow them to track runners and stumble across corpses. I love the idea of being able to track people who got away, or come across a huge streak of blood and deciding on whether you want to find out the fate/potential loot somebody had or avoid it like the plague, even though you would have never known anything was there before. For having zombies follow you right up to the building you're trying to bandage in despite there being no other way they could find you. Possible friendly situation: lets you find a wounded ally or locate his corpse so you can let him have all his things back. *nods* Blood could also appear as partially reflective for flashlights/flares/glowsticks while it is fresh (still wet) for night time hunting. Blood and bleeding could also make it more difficult for players to evade zombies through buildings and such. Secondary suggestion: Include this mechanic to a lesser degree for zombies, maybe give them black blood for identification purposes. This would allow wounded zombies to be used as blood distractions for other zombies, but only if you're far enough away that the shot won't attract them straight to you. Tertiary suggestion: New zombie type that is essentially a walking zombie attraction to slowly gather groups of zombies around it.

Becoming attached to your character/loot
Cavan replied to slappyham's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is the reason I genuinely try to keep myself doing things and taking risks, I don't want to die but I enjoy starting the cycle over again. I also don't always take weapons based on how effective they are at killing with my playstyle, if I did i'd probably only ever have an m14 or DMR, like today I put down my AKM with 6 mags for a remington shotgun with 16 slugs, just for a bit of a change. -
20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon

The spawns are broken, I go to a lone deer stand and scout 3 zombies. 2 more zombies spawn within 20ft of me, I shoot and then a train of at least 10 zombies spawn and rush to one spot infront of me, they then proceed to go mental and keep spawning whenever one is killed.

Could you please stop parroting that mistake. It was not a hack, nor was it a glitch even. It was an unbalanced feature of the game that could be abused, you could argue it was an 'exploit' but I would personally not agree with that term either. Calling people who changed their gamma hackers is just as stupid as people who respond to every complaint with "go back to CoD" as if they improve anything ever by saying it. -
Today I followed 3 people near Zelenogorsk for several minutes. They eventually went into a barn and I decided that I should take the risk and attempt a 3 vs 1 ambush. They accidentally aggro zombies and hold up at one of the entrances as more come rushing. I circle around and gun down the single sentry covering that door with an AK at point blank. I then engaged in a hilarious broken legged rolling fight with the remaining two. 2 magazines of ak ammo and 11.5k health later I crawled victorious with..not a lot of loot to call my own, one had an m16, one a winchester and the last disconnected and had his body despawn before I could loot it(he had camo clothing and I'm guessing more valuable gear). What happened next is what was unusual, I was basically stuck in the barn with 500 hp. I was at least not bleeding and I had fixed up my legs, but I passed out whenever I tried to move. I hear a tentative voice over the direct chat, he tells me that he doesn't have very good English and wants to know if I am friendly, I tell him I am and proceed to explain my proximity to two corpses by saying that i'm waiting in this barn for my friend to come back. I lied that a bandit had ambushed and killed him and I had killed him in a fire fight as revenge for my poor friend. He uses one of my looted blood packs (still dripping from the murders) on me and i'm good as new. Me and my friend had some fun, I showed him the nearby supermarket and let him pick up a bag and an m1911 before he says he has to disconnect. I wished him luck and let my new friend pass unmolested. I never even asked his name :( (did very much contemplate shooting him in the face, but my friends over mumble who are bandits themselves said it'd be too much of a dick move, and I agreed) I'm not sure whether this is a thread against trusting 'friendly' or if direct voice chat is awesome. Have you ever been helped by an innocent person after murdering people for no reason less than a minute previously?

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
Cavan replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
NO I think taking away some of the starting makarov ammo would be a very good idea though. In a game about survival the amount of ammo you start with doesn't feel limiting at all, if you screw up so badly you need to shoot more than one or at most two magazines, you deserve to die. edit: On second thought I don't think it will be as bad as people say with bandits spawn camping the beach. People will also have to gear up before entering the normal coastal hotspots or be taking a massive risk, which I think is a great thing.
