    Dear, Server "US 1877" Hacker

Hahahaah... I just spent three hours playing and collecting gear (after my last death) and even ran into several nice players in the meantime. I took a break to eat and log into a new server just to be insta-killed and have all my "stuff" taken from me and thereafter find my account is bugged and will not spawn in as a noobie with the noobie gear. I deleted him and started all over. Fix your damn game Bohemia.
  2. I love the folks who equate this VIRTUAL GAME with real life... /NAUGHT! I believe this game has more serious issues to fix before any attention is devoted to making it more "solo friendly". For instance, I'm tired of the pervasive hacking/cheating and I'm tired of breaking my leg each time I lowcrawl through a shed's open doorway. I'm also tired of long arse unconscious timers when I'm sitting at ~4.9k health. I could understand going unconscious if I'm at 1k or something (after all that would be "knocking on Death's door") but otherwise I consider that "a bit too much".

    How about a starting weapon?

Don't fret The_Dude... lots of trolls in these DayZ forum(s)... too bad they're not dealt with. Folks post a game opinion and its like the arena portcullis is raised and a group of Trolls are unleashed. If you survive those Trolls, the Emperor will give you a THUMBS UP! Ignore the Trolls! P.S. I agree with your sentiment... we're a "survivor" at this point in the game... so if we start out as a "survivor" why in the world don't we have a weapon of some sort?
  4. Seeing as how I only able play this game during the night (here on the Pacific Coast of America) why am I being punished when I play? The flashlight is a joke... it attracts every zombie within sight of it. This game's night is so dark it begs for a gamma hack... err... I mean a full phase Moon. Everytime I log into game I'm confronted with darkness and I'm rather sick of it so that's why I am beginning to feel "punished" for playing this game. Between the hackers and the perpetual darkness... Are Server Admins permitted to adjust their server's time settings so that players can play during daylight hours despite it being nighttime at their true geographic location?

    Why am I being punished?

If Zombies aren't attracted by light then how come they all spawn in and walk right at me? Is this game coded so that player enter a zone and all the spawning in Zombies (or at least most of them) turn and walk right at the player's location? Sure seems like it... if, in fact, light doesn't attract zombies in this game. Furthermore, I've read several DayZ reviews (even an official one) that says Zombies are attracted to campfire light... and will move toward it to investigate it. So why wouldn't they be attracted to flashlights?

    Why am I being punished?

Love some of the posters who enter threads only to hurl personal insults. I was talking about "darkness" and not insulting other players nor this game's developers. Take a chill pill haters. I've found a server I can play on thankfully. My thanks goes out to those who suggested I check server times using DayZ Commander before logging into them. Although DayZ Commander server times are not always correct, most of the time they are. Thanks again.

    Why am I being punished?

Ya, very true Bukethead. Unfortunately, I'm with a few others around here who can't seem to launch DayZ through DayZ Commander. We've yet to figure out the hangup. Not lazy at all SmashT_AU, I've searched around and I've yet to find a daytime server for my playing time. Then again, I think I may have to adjust my ping filter settings because I've only been looking for servers with <100 ping. Maybe if I increase that I'll find some AU/UK servers to play on.
  8. I don't know what the OP is going on about... Zombies/Zeds have been my bane since last week when I first starting playing this game. Zed's are the one's who have wiped me out as I've yet to die at the hands of a bandit/other "survivor". I had finally reached a decent loadout (map, NVGs, sniper rifle, 1911 handgun, plenty of medical supplies along with food/water) when I found myself de-synced only to return and be attacked by four roaming Zeds. They enjoyed gobbling my flesh no doubt and what they did with my gear I'll never know. I'm thinking if Zeds eat us they should be able to wear the loot they got off us. Wouldn't that be cool to kill a Zed with a combat loadout? LOL! Score!
  9. Stop hating on the posters who call out for hacking to be stopped. Hacking is more rampant in this game's BETA (it ain't no Alpha at this point folks... no matter what they tell us) than in any other internet game I've played to date (that's over twenty three years worth of internet gaming folks).
  10. I suppose that's better than having a dream where you launch a boat out to an island and kill dozens of unarmed children... P.S. Yes, I agree... I think you've played DayZ too much. ;)
  11. Indeed, if they're offering up an "Alpha Version" for public play WE PLAYERS SHOULD AT LEAST EXPECT hacking/cheating has been coded out. Rather, this game's alpha/beta version is replete with hacking/cheating. We may as well all spawn into 0/40 servers and just PvE. LOL!

    Dayz's latest hack

I'm sorry but I agree with the general sentiment of this thread's replies... you chased a hacker and got pwnd while doing so. Game. Set. Patch.
  13. That's right... you heard it from me. Alt-F4'ing is the ONLY way we are able to defend ourselves (somewhat) from hackers/cheaters. Already three times tonight, I've spawned into hacked servers where the hacker teleported everyone to one spawn point and proceeded to kill them. If it weren't for Alt-F4'ing, I would have lost all that I had gained this week (during each of my playing sessions). As it stands now, I was badly wounded during one such hack and now I'm in need of blood. LOL! Thus, Alt-F4'ing DOES have a valid purpose amidst the rampant cheating/hacking afflicting this game's play.
  14. They can code out Alt-F4'ing in-game. It's been done before in MMO FPS games. Furthermore, they could code out the hacking/cheats too. I just don't think they want to invest the coding time to do so.

    "Wait For Host"

I don't know but this is the same problem/error I have when launching servers out of DayZ Commander. I've quit using DayZ Commander because of it and just load servers from Arma II itself.

    US819 + LU195 Banned List

I'm happy to see at least some Server Admin's putting the boot to hackers/cheaters. Hacking/cheating is far too common in this game right now.
  17. How does one know FOR SURE their killer was using a grass/shrub exploit? Some folks play with squads... i.e. one squaddie tracks the target while their other squaddies hunt/kill the target. Some folks play snipers and snipe from elevation advantages... thus having an easier time to spot those lying amidst grass. Some players think they're "hidden"... but they're not. Some players think they know exactly where their hunter is... but they don't. Sometimes it's more than one player killing/shooting at a target... making the prey feel like they've just gone up against a Godmode player. Then there are those equipped with thermal scopes... able to see anyone anywhere at any time of time (within visual range of course). Moral of the story: Some things are not as they appear.

    I got wrongly banned

Just play on another server and avoid that one...
  19. DayZ Commander no longer works for me either. I only use DayZ Commander to update my pertinent files. When I connect to a DayZ server, using/via DayZ Commander, it hangs on "Waiting For Host". Whereas, when I simply launch Arma II and load into a server from there it launches the game fine.
  20. The Good 1) The premise of this game absolutely rocks! A post-apocalyptic, zombie populated, PvP game I mean! The Bad 1) Swimming... did I just say swimming? Yuppers, I did. Swimming in this game is painful. It just took me nearly 10 minutes to swim only 200 yards (or thereabouts). I was a complete noob spawn-in so it's not like I was loaded down with gear/weaponry. Please improve the swimming speed. Thank you. 2) The Inventory System. I'm pretty sure this is a well beaten, dead, horse so I'll be brief. Please do make this more user friendly. 3) The starting loadout. Really? We noobs start the game without so much as penknife? Come on. This is a post-apocalyptic, zombie ladened, world... and we MUST be badasses if we survived to this point. Please, FOR THE POPE'S SAKE!, provide starting noobs with a weapon of some. At this point, I'll settle for a large wooden Cross if only I can bash the heads of Zombies in with it. Seriously, this game is painful enough for noobs without leaving them unarmed from the start. Badasses don't survive an apocalyptic collapse unarmed. Allow us noobs to our badassery fists and feet (Kung Fu Style!) if you're not going to start us noobs with a "contemporary" weapon. Chuck Norris anyone? 4) Zombie aggro... please put a leash on them. I just ran from one TOWN TO THE NEXT trying to shed zombie aggro. The zombie never stopped chasing me. I had to dupe the system to drop aggro. Yes, I did DUPE THE SYSTEM (Logout-Login-Voila! I went Inviso-Stealth on the Zombie and dropped aggro! It works. Don't hate.). I find it unplayable for me to stealth around for 20 minutes only to then gain the aggro of a single zombie and thereafter have to run for 20 more minutes before realizing I couldn't drop his aggro. I tried going prone behind trees (hiding). I tried pinning the zombie behind terrain features (i.e. courtyards, fences, you-name-it). Nothing worked. Did I mention I started this game unarmed and with my hands/feet tied down? 5) About that low-crawling, tactical crouching, stuff. Really? I spend more time lowcrawling/tactical crouch walking in this game than I actually do "playing it". Certainly, someone else (besides lowly me) believes we spend an awful lot of time with our face in the dirt. Is there any way this can be addressed? Perhaps slightly reduce the amount of zombies in each locale? I understand that if I stick with this game I may encounter (obtain) silenced weapons and such which will make the game more enjoyable (at least from a zombie aggro point). However, at this rate, obtaining those weapons seem like a long ways off. 6) Benny Hill never had it so good... Zombies everywhere! Is it a bug or something? I enter towns (not the big cities mind you) and they're overrun with zombies. It's like an advanced version of Frogger just to enter into these towns without stirring up aggro. I happened upon a downed chopper outside one town and what was there awaiting me? Four zombies! At least these zombies were well dressed in their aviation suits. I couldn't stop to maneuver my way into this chopper as I was still running off Zombies from the previous town. Did I mention I'm unarmed? The Ugly 1) A Broken leg? Are you sure? I mean really... I walked off the edge of a low lying dock and landed in the ocean (no more than two feet) below the docks yet I broke my leg? Come on now... I'm like a water ninja! I survived to this point of the apocalypse... surely I can jump (err... walk) off a dock into some water below just to cleanse myself of the zombie gunk! 2) A Broken leg? Are you sure? I was doing my high speed, low drag, tactical (prone) crawl into a zombie infested town (Did I mention I'm unarmed?) and managed to reach the entry door of a shed within which I could SEE BOOTY! As I lowcrawled through this shed's doorway threshhold... with the booty (loot) in sight... merely a few feet away... I BROKE MY LEGS! Damn you game! I was SO CLOSE TO GETTING A WEAPON! DENIED! Did I just cross into the Twilight Zone or something? I got broke legs, I'm shivering with pain, my eyesight is blurred, my post-apocalyptic survivor's self-confidence is at an all-time low (I can't lowcrawl through a doorway correctly (broke my leg)... I can't jump into the water for a refreshing dip (broke my other leg)... I can't punch a zombie in the eye (Zombie Kung Fu Panda'd me and left me bleeding out)... and now... after all this... I'm thirsty. Really? Did I mention I'm unarmed? 3) I obtained a weapon but I couldn't use it. I finally managed to procure myself an AKM (from a deer hunting stand no less! Those must be some badass deer they were hunting...) and for some reason I was unable to shoot nor aim it. Is this a server setting or something? Or a bug? I only ask because I logged out of the current server with it and logged into another one and miraculously I was able to now aim and shoot my beloved AKM (using the default settings). Well... I did have an AKM... until I ran out of bullets... Did I mention I'm now unarmed? :P All in all, I look forward to the kinks being worked out in this game's alpha-beta (grocery store?) phases. This game is superb (despite the things I listed above).
  21. Yes, I've begun keeping a list of servers I could play in and I just look for those to show up on the server availability list. If they're not available at the time I'm playing I log out of this game and go play another one. Hopefully, they get this server/client version issue sorted out sooner rather than later.
  22. Hahhaha Carnage. I know, right? I would have went back for the chopper but in the end I had to log off due to RL. In event, I never said this game was garbage like two of the naysayer posters in this thread. I love this game or at least its premise. I merely wished to point out my "issues" with this game upon my first few spawn in's/gaming sessions. I look forward to more solo adventures in this game if only to better learn the ropes.
  23. The last two naysayers apparently didn't take the time to digest what I wrote. We'll have to disagree to disagree.

    New Update Problem?

I DL'd and played DayZ once after finding an old server running on old ArmA II/DayZ version. The minute I updated all the files to their most current versions I was no longer able to connect to any DayZ servers. I either was stuck at "Waiting on Host" screen or the "Loading" screen. This is unfortunate as I've tried using SixUpdater, DayZCommander, and launching via the game itself and nothing works. I gave up after hours of trying. It's okay though... GW2 stress test later today so I'll have that to play at least. Hope they get this version of DayZ fixed because IT IS killing the gameplay experience for far too many of DayZ players.
