Name and Shame: PvP Diconnectors
Yammazul replied to Yammazul's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Judging by the replies so far it seems like people are ok with diconnecting during a firefight, so yes I concur with the "son" macro. Dissapointment, what has become of the Day Z community? -

I want to make a complaint about server EU 40, seems the admin/s are banning for several silly reasons, not to me personally as yet, but to other players. The worst I have witnessed so far has been "faggot" which I have documented in a picture below. I have also personally heard an admin be extremely abusive and rude over voice chat to new player called BRAD who used side voice chat by mistake, when BRAD asked him to not talk to him so rudely, the admin threatened to restart the server if he didn’t stop talking O.o. The past few days he has also been rebooting the server every 15 minutes it seems like, my group would have just left the server but we had gathered quite a collection of vehicles and supplies so were essentially tied there. However the server appeared to have been completely reset at some point so we lost several vehicles and collections of loot/supplies. Going to be using a new server from now on, I realise that constant restarts and even resets are not breaking the rules, they were just the straws that broke the camel’s back on a very poorly run server but I’m not here to raise restarts/resets as an issue, the issue I’m raising is the banning of players for personal reasons and abusive talk over voice chat. Since the server hosts have to apply to the Day Z staff to run a server in the first place, I do have to wonder if the application and review process is perhaps as thorough as it should be, clearly very immature and petty people are being granted powers they probably shouldn’t have access to. With the current state of hacking in the game (that’s even spread to the forum now) the last thing we need is rogue admins like this ruining the community. P.S should also note that he has been seen locking his server from time to time and playing with a small number of what I assume must be friends or clan members. I’m fairly sure that’s against the rules but I don’t have a screenshot of that, will grab one next time if I see it. EDIT: Adding a quick copy of the rules for easy reference. "BEWARE - The same restrictions apply to Non-Dev run servers! - IT MAY NEVER BE PASSWORDED - NO OTHER KEYS OR MODS. NONE. PERIOD. - NO KICKING TO MAKE ROOM FOR 'FRIENDS' OR CLANMATES - IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO UPDATE YOUR SERVER TO THE LATEST VERSION OF DAYZ - Their are only two reasons why you, as a server owner, should ban a player on your server. Those two reasons are: Malicious talk, and racism. You may not ban a user for stealing your loot, killing you, spying on you, etc. - You may only kick for disruptive behavior (such as continued VOIP over side channel). But you may not kick due to race or language or because the person does something you do not like. - Kicking for extremely excessive ping or desync is permitted, but if abused is grounds for blacklisting Failure to adhere to these rules will BAN YOUR SERVER'S IP from DayZ. If you have any questions, then please post in this thread, or email me; dayzmatt@gmail.com"

So do mods actually attempt to moderate this kind of language on the forums or am I overreaching again?
-
wow "retarded", "faggot" AND "nigger" in a single sentence. I tip my hat sir, well done. P.S I forgot "fucking". Truely an impressive display of vocabulary.
-
Well im done, I cant believe I got drawn into trying to politely and logically explain why its not ok, people cant change over night and you and your admin friends clearly lack the maturity to discuss this like adults (dispite the fact your profiles report you all being over 20, one of you is in his 30's....). I am not trying to get your server blacklisted or anything malicious like that, however would be nice is a staff member could talk to you about your poor conduct and explain how your breaking the rules of server hosting. You dont seem to realise your potentially insulting and ruining the experience of other community members. You need to treat other people with a little more respect than you currently do, you might think its cool to act this way on the Internet but irl its going to get you no where, people will just think your dicks :-/ "BEWARE - The same restrictions apply to Non-Dev run servers! - IT MAY NEVER BE PASSWORDED - NO OTHER KEYS OR MODS. This is the effect your jokes can have on people, you should feel bad.

It took you all that time to come up with one sentence and it isn’t even your own? How exactly is this relevant to the thread? You’re implying that when the mods creator came up with the game he thought it was cool to kick people for being a "faggot"? Are you calling Rocket homophobic? If so create a new thread please. Stay on topic. The bottom line for me is, if this kind of slur is tolerated then what’s next? The N word? As far as I’m aware there is a zero tolerance policy on slurs here right? If there isn't then there really should be, it’s a slippery slope. It’s bad enough when the members use slurs and hateful speech but when the admins and server hosts are doing it? Come on, that’s not ok.
-
I dont consider hateful speech a joke, that makes me oversensitive. Ok. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2007/07/13/majority-of-americans-find-faggot-offensive/

Another "faggot" A third "faggot" I dont know why people are making a joke of this, I find it disgusting, am I the only adult here?

More than once, I have more screenshots, I can provide upon request.

Hello fellow survivors! I have been playing this game for a couple of weeks and boy is it great! I really love the realism of the game! But I think there are a couple of additions that could be added to make it even more realistic as I currently feel this game is not hardcore enough for me as we basically only have to take care temperature, thirst and hunger! Heck even the Sims had more needs than this and that wasn’t a challenging game at all! So I have come up with a few suggestions that I think the team should think about adding to the game before it’s finished and would like to know what the community things of my great ideas! 1: DIABETES I have noticed that the majority of the players I have encountered seem quite content to survive on merely baked beans and name brand cola (both of which contain large amounts of sugar), rather than opting for the healthier option of water and cooked meat. There should be repercussions for such a lazy and lax diet! My suggestion is that if a player consumes too many sugary treats on a consistent basis then there should be a chance that his/her character could develop diabetes, which would require a trip to one of the major hospitals every 24hrs in order to take a shot of insulin, if the player chooses to not take this vital medication then they should suffer from occasional blurred vision and light headedness. I feel this will force the player to source out the wells and wildlife in the game in order to maintain a healthier and balanced post-apocalyptic lifestyle. 2: CONCUSSIONS + CEASURES Two things here but they relate to the same issue, non-lethal PvP and the lack of it in the current build. Right now there is no way to neutralise an aggressive player without bullets, this must change I think! It’s not always smart to simply run from an attacker as you may risk zombie aggro or getting shot in the back like a coward! Not all of us want to resort to murder, even in self-defence. So I was thinking rather than adding something new and non-lethal to the game like say, pepper-spray or Tasers, that instead we should utilise what we already have in the game world. It seems like empty tin cans and whiskey bottles are not being used so much by players to distract zombies so how about we also allow a player to throw them at other players? Scoring a headshot with a whiskey bottle on another player should render him unconscious or downed for around 30 seconds, giving his intended victim enough time to safely escape. The player who was struck with the can or bottle will then have a concussion debuff that would affect his depth perception and cause a loud ringing noise in his ears, this would then require painkillers and a bandage to the head to in order to negate the negative effects of a concussion. I’m sure you have all tried to use a torch at some point in the game, only to be disappointed that you cannot use a pistol alongside it (X-Files anyone?). Well I’m sure it would be hard to program what essentially would need to be dual wielding into the game at this point, so here is my suggestion as to how a flashlight can be used as a defensive tool against other players. If a player is firing on you while you’re using a torch then you should be able to mash the “L” button violently in order to temporarily blind and disorient the attacker for a few seconds, if you do this enough times I think it would be cool if there was a % chance that your attacker could suffer a seizure from the bright flashing light of your torch! This is a great way to disable aggressive players without ever having to draw blood. No one should have to resort to murdering! Vote today for non-lethal combat today! So what are your thoughts on these ideas guys? I think they would add alot more choice and realism to this already harsh enviroment. Sincerely, Yammazul.

While I agree that its logical they should run in doors, given the current state of the game, the severity and finality of death, I think walking inside is a fair trade off as far as balance/survivibilty goes. Even though this game isnt about being fair, I dont think the devs intend for it to frustate you either, which zombies running indoors would probably lead to. Think about it for a minute, zombies can already run faster than you, they never ever quit, they climb ladders, open doors and swim, running indoors would be overkill for me. (Prehaps it can be worked into the game later on if they ever disable/nerf some of the abilities I mention above, but as it is now I think walking inside is fine. I'll give you an example of why I think its a fair trade off. I usually dont go out of my way to get aggro, when I go to town, like most people I want to get in and out without any drama from the dead. However sometimes things go wrong, you didnt see the zombie behind you, maybe ones spawn next to you etc. One of two things usually happen here, I run off into the wood and try to gun them down there, usually this ends up still pulling more from the town and I take a beating regardless. My preferred option is to have scouted out the town first, looked for enterable buildings, a barn, maybe a house, I remember where its located and upon pulling aggro I retreat to this location as fast I can and try and hold my ground against the horde there. I usually make it out ok if I had enough ammo and dont hang around long enough for other players to swoop in on my location. I guess my point is that as a player, I factor the walking issue into my plan B, were things to go wrong then I still have a chance to live if I can get to a safe spot to stand my ground. It has made me have a plan instead of mindlessly charging into town, I survey it, I observe and I increase my chances of making it out alive with my beans intact. I love it when a game forces me to think and plan before I act. Were the zombies able to run indoors however then death would almost certainly ensue everytime a zombie is aggro'd within a town. Im sure there are those that will agrue that this is how it should be, maybe they have a point but me personally I like where the game is at now in terms of balance (apart from the lower numbers in general of zombies but thats another issue). I dont think Rocket wants to make it nigh on possible to survive in this world of his, just very hard, and imo he is really nailing it in terms of making survivial a real challenge.

These are all great ideas guys! Keep it up, im sure Rocket will appreciate these suggestions! :)

I loved you in Zombieland.

If I wanted to stare at a black screen for five minutes I could just try to log onto a new server.............unless your suggesting we have dreaming added to the game? If so could I suggest ponies, lots and lots of ponies. Better yet, pretend the "Waiting for Server" screen is your character dreaming of a day when they stablise the servers, when your logged in, well thats you waking up isnt it? Phew it was just a nightmare, now back to the zombies and gankers! :D

As for you sir, I’ve seen you post the EXACT same reply in several threads on this issue, if there is a dedicated thread on this matter then why not be helpful and provide a link to it, not only to help out the original poster but anyone else who comes across this thread. I have searched this issue and found a handful of threads on it, all with 2-3 replies, none of which are helpful and none with confirmation or thoughts on the issue from the dev team. This issue needs addressing now, I’m sure the guys at Bohemia have realised that they have struck gold with this mod and it’s only going to get more popular over time if handled right, if it ends up being a standalone expansion released to the market, then it could end up making them more money in the future than the upcoming ArmA 3 title (Sorry fanboys), ArmA has always been niche after all, it’s good but it’s not for everyone, that’s clear, zombies are very much pop culture right now, zombies sell. Anyway I’m going off topic somewhat, what I’m trying to say that as this game goes forward it’s going to need certain, very basic implements like the one in question, Its standard, its expected. Imagine some buffoon at IGN or other mainstream press site giving a preview of the game, only to have this issue crop up for him, it’s going to piss him off, he is going to think it’s stupid and he is probably going to write about it in his blog/preview or whatever. I’m not saying it would hurt the games rep irrevocably (especially if it came from someone like IGN) but it’s going to make the product SEEM very amateur, which isn’t the case imo. I get that it’s an alpha, I get that it’s not finished its just it’s a very simple yet omitted feature that’s been left out (Unclear if its intentional or an oversight), it’s not like it would take weeks to write the code for a simple prompt box after all, I have heard the ArmA engine can be a pain for programmers but seriously? I didn’t rage when I died from the crashed heli bug, I didn’t rage when the respawn misclick happened (TWICE) so please don’t take this as a rant. This is just an issue I’ve been effected by and I hope it will be fixed in the future. It just made me feel a bit defeated after getting pwned by a menu misclick rather than an inworld mistake. TL;DR VERSION: ROCKET! WHEN THE INTERFACE MENU IS MORE DEADLY THAN ZOMBIES OR PLAYERS, YOU GOT PROBLEMS SON.
