    AKM vs AK 74 Kobra

AKM obviously? Longer range' date=' higher power and zeroing. [/quote'] It obviously wasnt obvious to him....thats probably why he asked. /facepalm
  2. I can agree with that, personally I only role with friends from outside the game but it kinda makes me sad for the Day Z when its very unlikely your going to make new friends in this game.
  3. Its literally a sandbox [game]. :P I thought that was appearant and not needed to be said. Sandbox as a 'genre' term. True but there is nothing wrong with a little structure, content, story and guidance in a sandbox for those that want it, just so long as your not forced into it. Look at the GTA games, the godfather of sandbox games, it has all those things I mentioned above as well as complete freedom.
  4. Says the server admin who defends his use of the word "faggot" as no big deal and totally funny. Ooo' date=' I have an idea. Go fuck yourself. [/quote'] :D EU 40 is legit......NO, REALLY!!
  5. Are you really going to make me re-post the whole thing? You are saying that bandit’s shouldn’t be punished. All I said earlier about giving survivors more ways to assess danger, this isn’t going to affect how the bandit wants to play and he can still go around mindlessly killing if he wants, it just means people are less likely to approach him directly. The first thing I suggested was blood. I’m assuming you want realism from this game right? If you were murdering and looting several people on a daily basis don’t you think that you may get some blood on your clothing? Incase you didn’t know, people bleed a lot when they are shot, this means their weapons, items, the things you just took are going to be covered in blood, how are you going to get this blood off your hands and clothing? It’s not like there are alot of clean clothes in the games, perhaps you should be able to wash them in a lake or at a water pump or something but just think about it logically for a few minutes before replying, if you murder someone and then go through their pockets you’re going to become bloody eventually, it’s not like you can put your clothes in a washing machine or go wash up in a bathroom is it? Anyway I’m ranting, here is the post from earlier, just an idea, better than magical changing skins imo, haven’t given it too much thought though. "Perhaps mass murders should have blood on their hands, literally...as well as on their clothes, I've seen the washing machines in Chernarus, they are all broken. Someone who kills on a daily basis would probably get their clothes covered in blood eventually I’m sure, perhaps this could be used as a way to identify if someone trustworthy based on looks alone. Let’s face it, in real life we judge people on how they look, how they dress etc. Yet people are saying that’s unrealistic, we should judge them by their actions alone, and that’s a good rule of thumb in a perfect world but our world isn't perfect and neither is Chernarus . People usually judge new people they meet based on appearance alone so I don’t see the problem with having some kind of system attempt that in game. Currently there are only 3 skins, you can’t get a good impression of the player right now, and everyone is very generic. Perhaps if their outfits and clothes were altered in subtle ways to represent the kind of lives they are leading each day, maybe that could work? With side chat on the way out, were going to have one less way to get impressions about the other inhabitants of the server afterall. Before someone says it, I get that player could also get zombie blood on them technically rendering my idea pointless, and sure that could happen but as the game mechanics change and evolve, I really don’t see the logic in looting a zombie in the first place, in reality would you be ok with eating food that you found on an infected corpse that was carrying a deadly virus? I know I certainly wouldn’t. The only other instance I can imagine getting zombie blood on myself is if it got close enough to bite or attack me and if Rocket ever makes it for a player to die from the zombie virus then this would be even more reason to not trust someone with blood on their clothes, they were probably bitten or have been looting/eating food from infected also making them a potential carrier of the virus. So blood on their clothes would surely be bad news regardless of how it got there and a visual warning sign regardless of how the blood got there in the first place. Just a thought off the top of my head anyway."
  6. making the pvp have consequences is a punishment. read my earlier post about how many people would be afraid to pvp because if they get labeled as a bandit, even accidentally then they are screwed out of all player interaction. Or if they were a bandit and decide to play nice for awhile. Why did you edit out the rest of my post? I already addressed the thing your accusing me of, please read something entirely before posting, your way off and just wrong, I never mentioned anything about bandit skins. /facepalm I didn't edit anything, I replied to your reply. Could be a forum issue. or maybe the person you were replying to edited you. But I replied to your reply. This is what the post was before.... -_- "Where did I say about punishing PvP? o.O I was mainly agreeing with the sentiment that as humans, we should be able to better assess danger, this is how we survive in reality, humans are very adept, usually at detecting danger. In a game that’s about trust vs. paranoia we need more subtle ways to make an assessment of a player on the fly, I’m not saying anything archaic and intrusive like a big red arrow over a hostile player, see my post above about blood on clothing, I guess it covers what I’m trying to say here."

I dont know but i'd buy one :)
  9. PUNISHING PvP is the exact wrong way to go. This is what stirs PvP type players into a frothy rage. PvE type players do this in EVERY game they play. They join a game with full PvP and then complain that the game should deter PvP. There are plenty of ideas that add cooperative play while in the context of a full PvP game. As for that video, it proves the opposite of your point. "Hey bandits, you should hold people up so they have a chance to shoot you in the face!" Edit: re-posting ways to allow for cooperative play 1. Roaming zombie hordes. Players shouldn't know where all the zombies will be. Right now we can pick and choose when we want to deal with zombies. What if the sniper in the trees stops to think that a horde of 100 zombies may be in the forest north of him? Or exchanging shots with an enemy group only to notice dozens of zombies spilling out of the trees. Next shot aggro's, gentlemen. 2. Cooperative objectives. The best example I've seen yet is having a power plant building feed power to an ammo factory buildling. Each building is held by a different group and they're now forced to negotiate if either group wants the ammo. 3. Friend/Black Lists. You should be able to "recognize" your best friend from a complete stranger. But in DayZ if a player is 10 feet away from you, you have NO idea if he's your buddy or not. Usually you ask your buddy in an external VOIP to prone, and check that the in-game player prones. If you don't have the friend in VOIP there is no solution but to give away your position. It's idiotic. You should be able to add a teammate to your friend list so if he mouses over you, your tags pop up (should probably add a caveat option where you give your friend tags on mouse-over so long as he too adds you to his friend list and gives you tags on mouse-over). He "recognizes" that it's you. The blacklist would not use tags on mouse-over (as it's game breaking for anyone but your friends to see your tags on mouse-over), but instead colors the username in direct chat/voice (bottom left). Red = a player you've marked as bandit/unfriendly. Orange = a player your friend has marked unfriendly. Yellow = marked unfriendly by a friend of a friend. You could see an actual social fabric develop this way. 12. Right to feel Buyer's Remorse. Not a right to complain. The "product" was purchased "as-is". As in, you bought ARMA 2 and its expansion. You did not buy DayZ. Your point in invalid because you have a fully-functioning game and expansion pack for it that you paid money for. You simply have no case. Legally of course they don’t have a case. I’m not actually saying I have buyer’s remorse personally either, what I’m saying is people who have it shouldn’t get a hard time for expressing it. Technically they paid for Arma 2 CO and that alone, technically they did not purchase the mod (I’m sure that will be sold at to us some point) however it would be within the interests of the developers to heed the concerns ( if they are legitimate) of the people who are playing the game right now. Day Z is a product that stands to make them a potentially a lot more money long term as a franchise than Arma ever has or will. As most know it put Arma 2 as steams no.1 seller recently. Bottom line is Day Z has made them a ton of money so far and likely will continue to do so. But when catering to the mass market and fickle casual players you will want to make the customer feel valued and respected (If you want their money again down the line anyway). Were they for example to turn around and ditch development of Day Z in Arma 2 and switch over to Arma 3 (upon or close to release), port Day Z over(essentially force another Arma purchase on the consumer should they wish to play an updated/supported version of Day Z) in order to make a quick buck from the current hype/buzz, well then that’s going to piss ALOT of consumers off as it would just be a blatant cash in, if it’s done ASAP. I do think Day Z should be ported over officially at some point though and how the timing is handled regarding it will probably speak volumes about how BiS are going to handle this new IP and whether or not they value their new (Non-Arma) customers. Most people would probably resent the fact that having recently paid to play Day Z they will be asked to do so again, hurting the player base and the publishers reputation, what would further hurt the player base is the fact that probably not a great deal of people will be able to run Arma 3 on their current rigs. The point I’m trying to make is, yes you’re right, they have no right to anything regarding the mod, but a smart publisher/developer will recognise and acknowledge the consumers purchase and not take it lightly, if a customer feels respected and valued then it goes a long way. If the publisher were to act like some people in here (including you) and turned around and yelled, stop complaining you are entitled to nothing! Now go out and buy Arma 3 to continue playing, it’s going to hurt their wallet and their reputation (When you’re a smaller developer, reputation is paramount). Day Z could be their first mainstream hit if developed and published appropriately but the games popularity is widely relying on word of mouth and those mouths are the consumers who just brought your game then you don’t want their words or attitudes turning sour. Unlike EA for example this publisher probably doesn’t have the spare cash to go nuts on a world-wide advertisement campaigns to sound out the negative opinions and views of disgruntled players, when all you have is the players and their good will, you better keep them happy. P.S TL;DR version: Fanboys and mods alike who spout that its free and you didn’t play for anything, need a reality check. This was only free to play to people who already owned Arma 2 CO. Any logical minded person who didn’t already own that game would only consider Day Z free to play to if it were available as a free download that simply locked the user out of the Arma 2 content, locking single player entirely and restricting server access to Day Z only servers. Until that day people ARE paying money to be able to play this mod. End of story.
  13. Your community is ok with banning people if they think theyre a "faggot" check it out http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=9351 , the staff doesnt care nor do the mods, so nice try with the hate speech angle. Bad community is bad, I have tried several times to offer constructive posts and suggestions, (though most of them are gone since the forum hack) only to get abuse and hilarious image macros, this community which you adore so much is full of trolls, ive decided to stop trying to help, its not worth it, it is what it is, I stick around now mainly for the hilarious image macros and to snigger at how blind some fanboys can be about thier toys, sorry if that makes me a bad guy eh. [redacted - not relevant to thread, troll attempt]
  14. To the original poster, consider adding this video to your first post, it makes your point to people to the people who are too lazy to read anything that has more than a full paragragh. Lazy people love Youtube.
  15. Sure, give me the contact information for whoever moderates the moderators please. The tooltip for the "Report" button reads "Report this post to a Moderator". However since my report involves a moderator I cant be 100% sure it wont be compromised or buried.
  16. You mad bro? I heard when you offered to become an admin you got turned down lol, and with the bar so low too.... P.S Your quite right for reporting me, we are after all living in a worldwide dictatorship where you’re not allowed to openly criticism someone if your think they’re doing their job poorly! [redacted - poster invoked Godwin's law]
  17. You created this account specifically to reply to this thread yet you managed to write up 6 more posts before replying to this one. Are you magical?
  18. Im sure you are all sick of the players who disconnect in combat, as Rocket explained in the past this is an exploit thats going to be fixed in the future, however according to the update thread on 1.7.1 its not going to be fixed in the next patch so were all going to have to put up with this behaviour a little longer, which made me rather a sad panda. So I thought it might be a good idea for us as a community to present somewhat of a united front against this kind of behaviour until such time as a fix can be implemented. The simplist way seems to be naming and shaming of the players conducting this unsporting behaviour. I have had it happen to me many many times in the past but last time was the first time I bothered to take down the names of the gentlemen. I will provide an account of the events and the players involved here so that should you encounter these players in-game you will have a good idea of what kind of lengths they will go to with the use of expoilts to stay alive. Player/s: Audi_666 Shadowfury Server/s and time: UK15 around 3am GMT. What happened: Myself (Gwyn) and a friend (Omelette du fromage) were heading to the NW airfield to try and find some NV equipment for him, as we neared the forest border we observed two gentlemen coming out of the woods so we decided to follow them since they may be heading back to thier camp or something, as we observe we notice they have some nice gear, one of them a 50 cal. sniper. We ghost them for a while and they seem to be heading to Starry Sober, probably follow them for what seemed like 15-20m as they explore barns and deer towers along the way. As they approach the edge of the tower to scout it out, they stop, I’m on their left in the bushes but they don’t see me, I had lost my friend somewhere along the way so I decided this is the place to try and ambush them before they get to the town, it’s very dark so I figure I’ll take out one then go prone and circle around to find his friend (I already had some NV equipment). I am about 15 metres away from one of them so I unload several slugs from my M1 shotgun into him, he goes down but didn’t die, I go prone and get ready to circle around on his friend who I assume will have an idea where the shot came from but probably didn’t see me. However as soon as I prone, BOOM Shadowfury Disconnects, Audi_666 disconnects, didn’t even fire a single shot at me in self-defence "Esc, Alt+F4" was their response. Normally when people do this to me I just facepalm and go about my day but I felt a bit jipped at the time if I’m honest, I had detracted from the airfield and tracked these boys a good 15 minutes at least. I knew they were Russian from their side chat so I figured they will probably jump to a server with a similar ping, sure enough after a couple of glances at player lists on similar ping servers I find them on UK14, however when I join there he leaves again and goes back to UK15, when I go there to confront him he actually gloats about him and his friends being alive with 12k health....I facepalmed so hard at that I nearly broke my nose. So well done gentlemen, you got away this time! To the rest of you, please don’t take this as rage or a rant, I just got a little dejected and disappointed, hoped it would be fixed in latest update but looks like these kinds of players are literally getting a stay of execution for now. Feel free to share your stories below, name and shame the cowards! :D

    Name and Shame: PvP Diconnectors

You are the cancer of Day Z' date=' just saying. :) [hr'] Sure that’s possible but I really don’t have the time or motivation to make this stuff up, I'm 27 years old and like to think I’m somewhat mature, I really don’t see what I would gain from making this up. If people suspect I’m "butuhurt" over them killing me or stealing a vehicle or something of that nature then they are unable no obligation to believe a word I say. I'm not asking you to verbally abuse these people or harass them in-game, that would solve nothing and simply further degrade the Day Z community even deeper into the abyss of immaturity it is currently falling into. T The purpose of my post was that if happen to see them in game and choose to engage them in combat then be aware that they may or may not disconnect from the game. What’s wrong with posting about that information? People who choose to use exploits to succeed are usually not the most trustworthy players anyway. Anyway, I know what they did and they know what they did, hopefully they feel some level of appropriate shame. As I said this isn’t the first and dare I say it, the last time I encounter players using this exploit. I’m not here every single time it occurs "crying" over it however as another poster seemed to suggest. I just wanted to put it out there, I don’t really think this will fix the issue, at best it will make the offending players think twice about doing it again, at worst, I got to vent about a problem I think is currently ruining and degrading the very core aspect of this game. PvP isnt PvP if the second P wont V, ya dig?
