I was running towards Cherno with a friend when we heard someone talking to us in the distance... he wanted us to put our guns down so I got down and started to go through my inventory.. he then ran into view and started to open my friends bag, I jumped at the chance and shot him a few times in the head/chest - not knowing if he had friends, we ran off into the sunset "Failed Bandit Robbery" (Youtube) youtu.be/d47v--D8Nww

I just got a pair of ST1080 HMD glasses, and after a day of messing around trying to get DayZ to run properly with it I finally achieved success.. It definitely adds to the experience, once you are used to the hmd and occasional artifacts.. anyone else playing either with hmd or 3d monitors? do you prefer the experience to 2d? a downside Ive noticed that is supposedly common to 3d conversions is that the aim is all messed up, and a third party 'laser sight' has to be added to replace the aim (assuming you use an aim/regular server) Next I am getting a Track IR5, combining that with the HMD plus the Novint Falcon + Gun controller I got a while ago.... day z should be pretty fucking immersive lol 3d video for those with 3d displays (must play in full screen with 3d in top/bottom) - http://youtu.be/HUykq65n24M

well, floating text on a black screen isnt what traditional religions prepare you for but i'll just go with it -
so I was starting fresh a few weeks ago and came across two kids playing one character in kamenka, since I was out of ammo the only option was to rambo the shit out of the nearest zed filled building with a hatchet.. Child Killer (Youtube) youtu.be/hJJBDPam1vc I then took out the only witness
-
well arent you a knight in shining armour! it was pretty damn amusing for me when I was playing, I just wish I caught the end of what the kid was saying... 'because you're a d-" "danger" "dickhead" "dumbass" the list goes on!

cant wait to get one... this hmd is sorely lacking in head tracking -
Do you even need to ask? Also, this video is a compelling case for adding cannibalism as a gameplay device if there ever was one

Loot own corpse, log out 10 mins later, log back in, loot is gone.. WTF!

Has anyone suggested that the hacking plague may be the work of a certain other development company in preparation for their own release? If not, I call that paranoid fantasy -
This is interesting, only with a feature like this is this change redeemable - its essentially swapping out blood on your hands / clothes from close combat for the bandit headscarf.. so its logical, if you can remove it through the action of changing clothes (as opposed to performing charitable acts... such a foreign gameplay device in a game meant to be void of that, an 'antigame' ... anyone remember that?) Also, people arguing their point off the comparison between hacks, exploits etc not getting attention for being bad while bandit skin is hated fail to recognise that hacks and exploits arent part of the game design
-
Up until now, that 'subtle sign' would have been the second you had before they either aimed and fired or ran at you with an axe... obviously player ingame behaviour isnt going to change too drastically (survivors will still be bandits), but having it shoved in your face the second you spot someone is disappointing
-
How dont you get by now that doesnt make a difference? I dont like having an visual humanity indicator. For good or bad humanity. Its a lame feature to be able to distinguish 'good' from 'bad', even more so if they are so easily interchangeable. Its strange that rocket is ok to put these features back in to appease the waves of casuals getting him to the 1 million mark, but still will not consider gameplay mechanics that break the 'authenticity/realism' of his back story (infected not undead) Whatever. So DayZ is back to being a game of cops and robbers. I am still going to play.
-
I am not worried that this change will make things harder for me, I am worried about how much easier visual humanity indicators make it. Its a strange feature to include, it does nothing but make the game easier... I personally enjoyed not knowing about people's humanity, it made meeting them and finding out about their playstyle alot more interesting. You people are delusional. So bandits = exploiters now? Also, I made a thread about teamspeak being the equivalent of telepathy between survivors, since it was so easy to coordinate someone's death a meter in front of them without them knowing
-
the only part of what you quoted that works with that picture would be "I consider it real banditry and not cheap griefing", which is something I quoted.. EDIT - Actually, reading the rest of the comment, yeah thats appropriate. Carry on.
-
that would be a less in your face solution, changing from sight to sound.. if there was a way to implement humanity without relying on restrictive gameplay mechanics, it would be great
-
Did you even read what you quoted? The fact that there is an "evil" visual indicator is something that isnt helped by its contextual restriction means that just because you can remove it, doesnt mean the idea is any better.. I dont like it because it cheapens the experience through simplification of the gameplay to a 'team deathmatch' dynamic meaning the actual issue I am talking about is the change of a sense of mystery and paranoia that is replaced with the two team dynamic of good guys vs bad guys... I dont like the idea. What are you going to do?
-
Actually, it was a double post that seemed to delete my original one... which was pretty fucking convenient.. what I said was - "of course I'll deal with it, I played this before bandit skins were removed... I dont like it because it cheapens the experience through simplification of the gameplay to a 'team deathmatch' dynamic" your response relates to that how? The fact that there is an "evil" visual indicator is something that isnt helped by its contextual restriction, its a generally restrictive gameplay feature
-
double post
-
Its only ironic if your'e an idiot that wont think about it past that point. "I consider it real banditry and not cheap griefing" DayZ hipster much? I kidnap people and rob them too. The videos I put up are one particular playstyle. As much as I'd love to stay here trying to reason with you idiots, I have someone waiting for me to play. Lately I've been helping people out and the like, but considering the new skin and feeling inspired by this thread, Im going to go fuck up cherno and elektro. Enjoy.
-
You're an idiot. Stop being so black and white, its not as if this is real life. I dont play bandit 24/7.
-
I play both styles. After the changes, I will be forced mostly into a bandit role due to the history of my gameplay. Yeah, I dont like that a restrictive feature is coming back to appease people that want to force one particular gamestyle on everyone.
-
You're suprised? Like I said, some days I like murdering. Deal with it. What is shit now is that the consequences are artificial - again, it reduces the gameplay to cops and robbers, good vs bad... there has always been consequences - you attack someone, they know you're hostile and either attack back or run and hide.... those are consequences that help gameplay, not forced skins that indicate an invisible tally
-
Im not complaining that its stopping me from doing anything. Though I just cant wait to be shot by noobs spouting 'bandit!! die bandit!!' even after I had the drop on them and called out friendly. Oh how Ive missed that. Its a retarded mechanic that reduces the atmosphere to simple good vs bad with the possibility of depth, as opposed to mystery all the time. Its a feature to appease the carebears, and it fucking sucks. I was glad to see it go, and it has been fun playing not knowing who to trust...
