    +1 for this idea, a streamlined non aggressive stance would be conducive to teamwork
  2. would the timer fix make it possible though? while it would suck logging into a dead character, i wouldnt mind too much..come across a sleeping player and the fun would begin
  3. yeah i can see how its too extreme and would basically force you to play in order to sustain one life.. also the potentially impossible server load is something of an obstacle - though one can dream :D thanks for the comments

    i like the idea of a chance of getting sick from contaminated water... maybe reenable water from the ocean, but make it dehydrate you fast?

    random spawns is part of what makes this game great. no influence over where you start forces you to adapt - finding another player is an adventure in itself.

    id enjoy it, though inside fires should be possible... but start to suffocate whoever is inside when left too long

  11. yeah thats what i am hoping,it shouldnt be much more ontop of the already existing locational save... it would just spawn an npc tied to your characters life
  12. i am just worried that its not technically possible, though the timer fix may be a solution? would be good to get a knowledgeable opinion in here.

    i really dont think its a technical limitation, since there are options that exist that present the area in a fashion consistent with the scenario that dont rely on excessive graphics - eg fire sprites everywhere - though some could be utilized since ive run the game with everything on high and had fire bugs that filled my entire fov without noticeable fps loss

    1: Why would anyone bother to do that? Nothing to gain from killing people who only have a flashlight. And even if someone did do that - 2: Who really cares? If all i have is a flashlight and i get gunned down shortly after spawning, so what? Chances are i had only been alive for a short amount of time and didn't have anything to lose anyways. If i'm getting camped for no reason, there are tons of other servers i can go join. people kill just for the fun of stopping another player's progress, dont underestimate the player base's ability to be assholes

    there is always new players. they wont know what to do, and might get stuck in a loop of deathmatch - which seems to be happening more frequently judging by my gaming experience since 1.5.6

    the potential for exploitation does leave it with a requirement of balancing features. which, when considering the design philosophy of the mod, makes it unfeasible.... damn

    i would say there has been enough posts about tents and vehicles too, how about discussion revolving around the new dynamic female skins will bring in? its going to be fun hunting white knights..

    persistent ingame footlockers = more variety for bandits

    ive come across a few tents, guess it just comes down to luck.. how would you realistically explain a footlocker for every new player? where is it located? does it move with the player? though i like the idea, does the backpack not fill this purpose? maybe an extension of its capabilities to adopt the saving you are suggesting would work?

    also would dismemberment not be possible considering the bandit/survivor model switch already proven to work? it would just create the need and strain of different models for different combos of dismemberment - effectively moving us forward one step but still killing the idea
