So I know hand to hand combat and melee type weapons have been mentioned about a million times but... So like many fresh spawns the first thing I try to do in DayZ is get myself a hatchet. Then I feel very slightly bosslike. If you could punch, kick and maybe headbutt(ok yes I'm Scottish..so what?) then that would straight away give you a slight advantage over zeds and could make for some hilarious PvP battles. To borrow a few ideas from that Zombie game where you build the crazy weapons (Dead Rising?) you should be able to use many things as weapons (either swung or thrown) such as sticks, bricks, metal bars etc. Also the jumping kick is quite effective and would be perfect for dealing with a zed that has basically trapped you in a small building by standing in the door while you are unarmed. Another idea that could be borrowed from this game or similar games is some basic climbing/jumping/vaulting which is pretty much missing from the current Arma 2 engine. don't get me wrong I don't want DayZ to end up a bastardised console game but feel it needs a little more fluidity to movement.

As things I want have already been mentioned (better zombies, wild animals, better physics etc) I will say that we should have to work a bit harder for loot. Ok in shops stuff would probably be strewn on the ground but stuff should also be on shelves or in boxes that would need broken open. In houses they could be in cupboards or drawers (which may make noise when opening) really good loot might be in locked cases/rooms needing a bit of force with a melee weapon to open, prized open with a crowbar or even some kind of way of picking the lock. Basically anything that will add time and noise to your looting. I would also like to see more mess and the ability to make more mess, especially shops/civilian areas. -

Mines would be great but could have the potential to be misused (even outwith hacking). If they were disarmable and maybe even auto disabled after a period of time I could see them being a great addition. Sniper hill would become extremely dangerous...for the snipers :lol:

Hi I'm getting a new PC tomorrow and would like to know if there is an easy way of transferring my Steam games(Arma 2 CO+DayZ) to it without having to redownload. Can I just copy the Steam/Steam games folder to an external HDD or what? Also will I have problems with my key? (I'll no longer be using the old computers stuff, it will be wiped when I back my stuff up). Thanks.

Zombie clowns would be excellent. Say spawning round a travelling circus.

The birds/bats is an excellent idea. If you creep about you shouldn't spook them but run full pelt into a bank of trees and a flock of birds should take flight, alerting other players/zeds to your presence. The woods are too much of a safe haven just now. Injured/noisy/cooking players should attract more unwanted predatory animal attention too.

Totally agree on hunting needing a revamp. Some animals need to be faster and harder to hunt and some should be tougher to kill and more aggressive. Wild boar for example should put up a fight and be able to cause player damage/bleeding. Farm animals should be scarce, cows especially as they have high yield for no effort. There should be lots of deer in the woods but make them very and fast easily spooked. I would also love if there were different mushroom/fungi to eat with some giving somewhat negative side effects(but hey if you are starving to death you can't be choosy). Also as has been mentioned several times is the dangerous animals like bears and wolves. They should spawn when a player is bleeding or has hunted/is cooking meat or has meat in their inventory.

I think that would be the point. Imagine hiding in your cave with your buddies, a fire burning nicely and some wild boar cooking. Maybe even having a nice cuppa tea. Then suddenly a group of players discover your bolt hole and steam down all guns blazing forcing you to open fire in defense. Friends being injured in the crossfire, a grenade gets lobbed etc etc. That would be the shizit.
