I have countless stories of DayZ dafness but I'll go with my most recent fail. I parked my heli in my usual sneaky hard to get to spot and when I logged back in found this had somehow happened :o Then to make matters much worse I stupidly got into the gunner seat (as you can see in the pic) and my only option was to switch gun seats or eject. I ejected and broke my legs. I had no morphine so decided to log out until my mates were on. Well while I was logged out the heli exploded and took the castle with it (probably someone decided to use it as target practice) and when I logged in I fell to my death and my body was unreachable. Oh well :D

I was playing on this server the last night when it was turned into a hackers playground (despite all sorts of apparent anti hacking measures). They were spawning vehicles, teleporting beside players and shooting them with high powered guns (badly), initiating Gangnam style dancing etc etc(this is the first time I've seen a lot of this kind of thing in ages too). Anyhoo my mate got banned after he got in a heli (probably hacked one) and crashed it. Then me and another mate got on a motorbike but it was not a kind I've seen before (old style) though I'm not even sure what is meant to be in the game and what isn't these days. Anyway I got off to find some things to fix it up and a hacker teleported to him and killed him so I just logged off since the whole server was a mess. I logged in tonight to find I have been admin banned. I really enjoyed playing on this server as it is always full and pretty intense so I would like to appeal my ban. Thanks

My mate watches DayZ vids on YouTube all the time,hours and hours of them yet he has never played it. He refuses to get it and its not even because he can't run it but its a mixture of not wanting to pay for it and not wanting to spend time playing it(though he spends loads of time playing other games and dicking about online already). Only thing I can think of is he one of these people that hate not being instantly amazing at a game(and the Arma 2 engine does take a bit of getting used to)and me showing him the ropes might be a bit be a bit humiliating. For me the fun part was learning to play and basically being shit and getting owned by Zeds/players, hell I still do. Does anyone else think it odd to take such an interest in something you have no intention of ever experiencing?

Well like I said, he is not waiting on the standalone either. That was the first thing we spoke about last time we were out (well when DayZ came up in convo, first thing I probably said was something like "awright bawbag?") and he's just not wanting(willing is probably the better word)to actually play either the mod or standalone for the reasons I've already said. It just seems so odd that he's voluntarily missing out on some great gaming.

Of all the driving a Tractor down a hill DayZ vids I've watched that was by far the most boring. Must try harder.

Yep totally understand and I myself do this with quite a few things(some I will do one day but others not a chance). But when all that stands in your way of experiencing something you have spent countless hours researching is buying and installing a game....

Nope hes not interested in getting the mod or the standalone (sorry should have said that). I know quite a few people who have not yet played it but will once the Standalone comes out which makes total sense but this guy is not one of them.

Yep thanks. Been playing again but the amount of times the server gets hit is just crazy which is a shame cos when it's not getting hacked it's ace.

I agree. It did seem to slow down for a bit and I started playing public again but over the last couple of weeks it's exploded again. Last night I was getting teleported constantly, Apache helis dropping out of the sky, the big cities being bombed, dancing, news reports, Thunderdome, battleships all over the place etc etc etc. I would much rather play on a private hive where I know Admins have power to snoop but also to enhance your gameplay.

Was on GlasgowDayZ the other night and found one. Bit clunky to fly but they are pretty cool. Seems a hacky chap had been spawning them in apparently.

Can't decide of that one guy sounds like Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys or the wired kid from Southpark :D

We are now using a much more reliable host so the server is running great. Current map is Panthera and we have loads of vehicles (4 Ospreys just now lol) and other good stuff. Hope to see some new members :)

Thanks mate. Yeh that was the most hacking I've seen in a while. I can only think it was using possibly spawned in vehicles (unintentionally) that put is on the suspicious list. Do you know of any other way to easily contact the admin(s) for this server?

So basically the thread title acts as a disclaimer. Most of these ideas are either really daft/unrealistic or have already been suggested a million times but I have tried to put my own spin on them where possible.If you are the kind of person who's brain can't deal with reading more than a couple of paragraphs of text or just like whining about stuff then probably best to stop reading now. For everyone else please read on and feel free to discuss/advise. Ok my first and probably most wordy thread will be some map location suggestions with various benefits and hazards associated with them. Power plants/factories/industrial zones. These kinds of places are great for finding various mechanical gubbins as well as being good camping spots (not so good for flying kites or retrieving lost frisbees as the 80's danger TV ads taught us). But currently they are usually pretty safe areas especially from Zeds. So I think some/all power plants should carry serious health risks. Gas escapage or even radiation poisoning should be common with the potential to get sick. Some areas could have explodable fuel tanks and also live wires with the threat of electrocution so the player would need to use extreme caution. To warn the player of danger could be nasty looking gas clouds, sparks and fires as well as big extreme danger signs all over the place. Old run down zoo Ok now you know this would be cool and a perfect way to introduce a few big scary predators that would normally be out of place in the surrounding terrain. Bear pits, deep pools, various (possibly lockable) cages and pens. A few animals would still remain, some you could eat and some that could eat you. I know you are picturing dragging an unconscious player into a bear pit or tiger pen...if not then you are now. Zeds that spawn here could also be in danger from the various hazards. Loot could include tranquilizer guns, chains, traps and all manner wild animal related stuff. Even with all the potential hazards this place would make an amazing base. Have tents with precious loot? Then what better way to put off potential bean thieves than a dirty great bear guarding them. Travelling circus Similar to the zoo with dangers but could introduce...clown zombies...yeah now we're talking. Plus a huge circus tent would be a great setting for an an epic battle between clans and you just know some idiot will try and do the high dive :D Quarry/Mine An actual big crater in the ground with associated dangers and vehicles. Explosives could spawn here and it could have mine shafts/tunnels/caves. A great place to hide out but would also be very dangerous. Could be either a quarry or mine or a bit of both. Full sized mall(s) Pretty self explanatory. If you have played Dead Rising then you know what to expect to find here (nowhere near as daft though). Highlights would include gun/ammo stores with some high quality guns, vehicles in the car park and frozen yoghurt. Most/all stores would be lootable though those that are not would have shutters up etc. Loot should also be spread out so lots of searching has to be done. Big lake(s) with islands As well as the benefit of fresh water there would also be some good potential hideouts on the islands. The islands could have small habitations etc, lots of edible wildlife (also some nasty ones), fixable boats, hell even a few jet skis for fun. The islands would be too far to swim without getting sick (a bit like Skalisty or whatever it's called). BIG mountain(s) Really really high up, snow on the top kinda shit. Would be steep and dangerous with a winding treacherous road and a few small habitations dotted about. I'm struggling to think of what could be found here to make the journey worthwhile but I'm sure if could have something good. Coastal cliffs with caves If you've seen The Lost Boys then you'll know exactly what I mean. If not then it's basically steep cliff with a cave or series of caves which would be a bit tricky to get to. Some maybe would only be accessible from the water so would require a boat or a lot of swimming. Would be most useful as a base but could also contain some good loot.
