I don't really know if there's a thread like this but after a quick check it doesn't seem so... This is a little idea I got today: Whenever someone shoot a weapon it leaves on the ground some cartridges (shiny golden pieces of metal). The more he/she shoots, the more cartridges on the ground. So when you come into the area you know there's been a shooting. I don't think that's a really urgent feature but... dunno, it might come handy don't you think? And now, for the practical part: - Every time you shoot with a ranged weapon you leave shiny and pretty noticeable cartridges on the ground (you can post them very easily, they have a little brighter skin then the cartridges from your weapon... or else they might be almost impossible to spot) - They aren't the exact number of the rounds you fired, they are just to "show" that there's been a shooting over here in the recent time. - There are 3 levels of texture for these cartridges. 1) This appear when you have shot at least 5 rounds with any kind of firearm. The texture appears just like 3 or 4 pistol cartridges on the ground. If you keep shooting almost in the same location you go to step 2 and so on. OK if you shot with a shotgun different kind of cartridges should be in the ground but... this is for the sake of not making it to complex for coding. 2) This appears if you shot at least 6 rounds with any kind of fire arm. Now it looks serious, there's at least 5 cartridges of a pistol on the ground and 2 shells from a shot gun. 3) This appears if you shot at least 10 rounds with any kind of fire arm. 8 cartridges, 4 shotgun shells, 2 pistol magazine and an AK magazine. - The cartridges disappears after a fixed amount of time. - Thanks them we'll be able to track down other players and know if "someone has been here". Making the ammo saving technique more valuable than ever. What do you think? You think this could be useful or it's just "too much right now"? PS: thanks bullfrog, I fix'd it

Meh, it's 2:30 in my timezone, give me a break :P Anyway, I'm changing it, thanks ;)

I haven't even read what you wrote here. I just had to read the title "An Idea to Stop most of the PVP". You started this thread with the idea of removing the pvp. You might have not wrote it in the post but you did it in the title. Just understand that pvp is part of the game. Rocket just gave you the chance to hear your heartbeat when you meet a player with low humanity. That's really everything you need.

Bycicle as a special inventory item (having it next time you login)
Tassadarh replied to pixel's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No. We're open world sandbox mmo, not a sport simulator. I agree with bycicles, but we should treat them as a normal vehicle, you log out you loose it or else bycicles are gonna disappear in a week or two -
Character wipes with patch releases
Tassadarh replied to Fiddlesticks's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Tell us the truth: You just got killed after a week of gametime don't you? Don't worry, death catches up every one of us. In a short time. You don't need to restart it. Everyone will day in a week or two. And if you don't... well, you're a really good player and you deserve to live. -

Consequences for killing players/playerbodies attract zeds
Tassadarh replied to EnermaX's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You are annoying. From the patchnotes: * [NEW] Heartbeat when cursor on a player with very low humanity (heart beats faster the lower it is) That's all we need, if not too much... -
I'm ok with melee but I would like to see it like a very HARD way of killing zombies. It should be so complex and hard to hit and then kill a zed that no one would ever do it unless you have no ammo/weapon (and that would fit pretty well with the recent update!) Let's talk about mechanics... We should be able to make a melee attack since the start... but that attack would never kill a zombie, no matter how many hits... All it does is to knockback the zombies, allowing us a little time to run away (and hide from them, now that it works). The attack speed should be VERY slow, and you should aim PRECISELY at the enemy or a part of its body (eg. you aim to the leg, no attack delivered, you aim for the chest, you hit... but only if you attack a specific part of the chest, like not the belly but the breast etc) Then we should add a new tool (alongside with the hunting knife, the wood axe, the tool box etc) that allow us to make a hand to hand attack. Again, attack speed superslow, and the aiming system should be important here as well (and maybe we should add a little of "head bounce" during the attack animation, making even more harder to aim correctly)... and of course we need AT LEAST 2 hits to kill a zombie (no oneshotting zombies with melee... they are human bodies, not ceramic statues... you need to make several damage before it falls).

Why is the life expectancy going up?
Tassadarh replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
At first I thought it was about people not playing the game. I mean, I've seen TONS of annoying thread like "I'm leaving cuz they kill me" and "Imma leaving 'cause I can't jump (that was a very good one)" so the most logical conclusion in my opinion was "people aren't logging in and their char lifetime is calculated even offline". But anyway, even if the lifetime is calculated only in "online time" I think the solution is not that far from what I said above. People who don't like this game leaves, leaving only people who play this game everyday. Skilled people will obviously have a longer life expectancy -
The Saddest Death in DayZ History
Tassadarh replied to zak757's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I logged just to find myself unconscious. The waiting time was very long. When I was almost ready a player pops up and start looting me. I wake up. Try to do ANYTHING but I just couldn't even move. He start shooting me. Unconscious again, loosing blood. Then I wake up again! He shoot me again, I die. 10 sec later in the sidechat "LOL a dead person just woke up"... Annoying -
Finally, it's about time. I was waiting for some civil discussion about the game. Anyway: Agree on FORTS. We should be able to build some outpost in the wilds. I'm not entirely sure on the mechanics though... We might need to add a LOT of content (maybe too much for the game engine?). Anyway adding a lot of new items needed for the construction of outpost would be good, pushing people to cooperate and form clans. Either way I really prefer this "let's build" then "let's occupy". If we give the opportunity to occupy in game existing buildings they're gonna occupy all of chernarus (these outpost might last like 1 day or week... but what then? No more loot--> no more zombies--> no more apocalypse. I'm adding something more: You can't log inside the outpost. The server will push you a little further (just a little... enough to be near but not too much). Otherwise people will go on other server and just teleport inside the outpost. Much like a "claim" function (available only if the owner is logged). That might be too hard to obtain, but we'll leave this to rocket. RECOGNITION SYSTEM is needed desperately. I don't know which is best. "Recognize" function would be nice... but I don't know if it's enough for all people on all servers... just very difficult to "store" all of the friendly players. A color system? Along with a "sort of" clan system (I mean... people wearing the same colors and outfit) like "oh there some people there. They are the "Brown and white guys" that clan is friendly... they trade AK mags for food, I have some we found before, let's go". That would be great but it looks very unlikely to me... yeah maybe the recognize function is for the best. Meh I don't think we need a SKILL SYSTEM. It's all based on players skills: Someone of your buddies is better at sniping, he's the sniper. Someone just like to have a lot of blood bags... that's all we need for now, we just need to team up with talented people, that's it. Yes, I agree to reduce the WEAPON AND AMMO DROP RATE. They are way to easy to find, I almost never find myself out of ammo (Ok I'm very careful with that... but in a little time I tend to have like 7 mags in my bag). Make this game more challenging. "Will he know that my gun is unloaded? This AK is suppose to scare him" Agree with MIGRATION. The more a loot zone is looted the fewer the chances to find anything good. I like the idea of "ghost towns"... should we add even "zombie herd"? Like a random spawn zone into the wilds?
-
No zombie animals plz... But I kinda agree on some kind of additional danger in the woods, like wolves or other hungry beasts... The hell a boar killed Robert Baratheon, why it shouldn't kill me?

Great! Thanks a lot rocket =)

My solution to the 'shoot-on-sight' problem.
Tassadarh replied to DaPessimist's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have a better idea. Introduce a real "local chat", better it to be vocal chat. Decide a "main language" for the servers. There problem solved. No need for game mechanics to do what player should do. Protip: Swap the starting makarov for a flashlight. No more "makarov deathmatch", no more "oh noes it's night! I can't play this game!" Seriously. I've seen more thread and post about "oh my. This is a death match!" then people that tried to kill me/I killed in game... -
This is why rocket is my hero
Tassadarh replied to Shanefromwalkingdead's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes. You are totally right sir. We should put that rocket post on sticky (or just this thread). That's what I've been saying since I discovered this forum: Don't let the game do something you could do. All these years we developed a more and more "passive" attitude to gaming, where game mechanics helped the player all the time they could (quest log, auto aim, rollercoaster dungeons etc). We are sick of it. I don't want to sit there and make the game play itself... I want to interact with it, test its limits. Don't whine if you die for being a "lone wolf", the more we are the better chance of survival. Don't whine if you get betrayed. Don't whine if you can't find a group, just move your ass and ask around, you'll find someone either in-game or on forums. Don't whine if, when looting, someone else kills you because you're cleaning the whole house. Got killed? Shit happens, it's DayZ. You don't like it? Go play this one: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3619. It is nice and more suitable to your taste. -

How DayZ TDM/CoD Can Be Gone With 2 Quick Fixes
Tassadarh replied to D3lit3's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
1) Agreed. We NEED this. Support. 2) Usually I am NOT supportive for these measures, but THIS is the only kind of "bonus" I might allow (not that I like it... but I prefer this much then a "reputation system" or "bandit skins"). Extra) Forcing everybody to spawn without weapons is a good idea in my opinion. A very good idea actually. Support. -
The monopoly of private parties is upon us.
Tassadarh replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Aside from our different thoughts on the matter of "private party". We both agree we need a real communication device INSIDE the game. Would it be radios, walkie-talkie, in-game VOIP: In this game all we need to fix a lot of these "balance issue" is a quick way to communicate. We can't spend time writing "are you friendly? -
While arma II engine doesn't even support Hand to Hand combat? It seems unlikely to me I will ever see this feature even taken into consideration. Also: Ok you became a zombie... Where's the survival? Don't even try to tell me you have to "survive playing a zombie" because that's just mirror climbing. What are you gonna scavenge? Meat? (again, no mirror climbing). Last but not the least: I haven't used the search engine but I'm PRETTY sure there are tons of thread like this.

The monopoly of private parties is upon us.
Tassadarh replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dude... WTF?! I'd love to have a proper in game communication working but... seriously WTF?! You're complaining because people play just with his clan mates and people he know?! Come on, seriously... do you really think that people in a zombie apocalypse people would prefer to join with random people than people they already know? This is mindless. Completely insane. We just need a GOOD communicating voice device in game. That's all. But you CAN'T blame people making "private groups" and then killing everybody who's not with them. "You're not one of us, I can't trust you". In a post-apocalyptic setting is totally legit. -
The bandits are great thread!
Tassadarh replied to Evilsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not a bandit myself but I'm quite glad you guys are in, you add "spice" to the game. The fact we don't have the bandit skin anymore makes everything more exciting. Of course I'd love to have a better ingame communication system (because, I that's ALL we need to solve the "so called" deathmatch problem) at least to use my mic and tell someone, with my own voice, "I am friendly, just drop the gun!" I was about to make a post in the bandit forum. Funny. A survivor who's glad of having bandits in the server. Anyway I think we should just sit down and think: There are no more bandits anymore, we are all survivors. The only thing we change is our game style, and everybody has its own. I love this game. -
I don't think this is a very good idea...
-
No' date=' the patch notes said it was in percentage and that that was fixed to be shown in degrees, not the other way around. [/quote'] My apologies to everyone then. Anyway I think we should remove the temperature value and stick with the temperature icon like we do with hunger and thirst. (BTW when I logged in right after the update my temperature icon was white... bugged or I'm pretty screwed up?)
-
My apologies to all the people living in those countries. Yet I do remember rocket said the temperature had to be in %... I think I read it in the patchnotes or something...
