Language Barrier - Etiquette and Assumptions
Stworca replied to kander's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Does that all really matter? In the end, regardless of whether the other player speaks English, Dutch or Swahili, they will be shooting at you. The most ridiculous thing of all i've seen so far was a "Speak English or be banned" server. Mmmkay.. But nobody actually TALKS in this game. They just hurl bullets at you, with their bullet hurling devices. Not a single bloody server i was on had a single bloody friendly. The only guy who actually USED a mic, ever, just randomly shouted "Hey mate" before he wasted a random newbie in the market at Elektro. -
A Threat To Banditry Itself, And A Solution.
Stworca replied to Caesar (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What is this 'trusting'? A salad topping? Are you aware that this is an English board? I've checked the DayZ dictionary three times, and there is nothing even remotely similar to that word. I was left for dead by a group of 'trusted' companions, because they didn't see the enemies who shot at us, thusly Alt+F4 won them the day. Sniping my trusted friends a night after that was pretty damn satisfying. -
No, no, no. You got it all wrong. What bandits do, is openly murder people, possibly from afar, or by spotting them through walls by using third person. What survivors are doing, is having someone pose as a friendly in Electro/Cherno/Groznij Grad to lure out the victims into a spot visible by the snipers survivors in the hills. You can not do that as a bandit, due to a skin change.

Thermal vision. Does it belong in this game?
Stworca replied to galhast's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There still is a weapon with NV/Thermal scope (L85), you won't be able to win sniper duels with it, but for group play at night, you can not find a better weapon. While Thermal .50 cal was just batshit insane, L85 can sometimes be described as "meh". (that's an exact quote) Though i don't mind players having it, i wouldn't mind restricting the number of L85's per server, much like cars. Increase the competition and hunt for those jewels. -
How manny times have you died? (SIGH)
Stworca replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why is there no "0" option? Yes. -
People who play 3rd person
Stworca replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In first person servers it's actually tricky at times, to survive zombies. Which is a good thing. It also makes it easier to not die to players. Which is another good thing. The problem with FPP that i'm having is that glitches are much more annyoing in it. In TPP you can move sideways and still see. In the first, every glitch is a mandatory visit to game options. In time, however, i hope that all of this will change, and FPP will always be on all non-recruit servers. -
I guess this is why side chat was removed. People were sending some grade XXX links to other players, and murdering them while they're alt tabbed. On topic : whenever i find a bear trap, i just randomly place it on an Irish server and wait.
-
The effective range of .50 cals is above 1km. That would have to be one big safe area.
-
It's probably an actual, player helicopter that crashed somewhere.
-
You've probably spawned right in front of another player, happens. Even in the wildest of wastelands, there can be someone aiming directly where you spawn at. If you could also hear christmas carols flowing through the direct chat, as your killer was investigating the zombie-devoured remains, it could've been me. I say it, as i've had a player spawn right in front of me, in the middle of nowhere. However, if it's a recurring problem, just switch the server. Some servers are just lost forever to the hackers.

Looking for People to Play DayZ With!
Stworca replied to Scazza's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What servers do you play at, anyway? I guess i can tag along one day or another, if just for a change of pace. Skype : s.t.worca steam : Stworca GMT+1, but i don't have a high ping on US servers either. -
The stupidest spawn in all of DayZ
Stworca replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Right about here : "you get an elektro spawn, then you run to the Firestation, find an M16 then kill everyone" Or was it a rhetorical question? -
Would you play Dayz without Zombies?
Stworca replied to Flavalicious's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Unless they announce that they're friendly? (In Cherno) -
POLL: Graphic Glitches & 1.7.2.5
Stworca replied to cleveden8's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Airfields, Berezino, Cherno and the military camp in Stary. One of those randomly glitches until settings are fiddled with / game is restarted. -
You have to right click it on the inventory screen and select "move from tools". It will take your pistol spot. Select it with the wheel and press "L". Keep in mind that the flashlight is visible from further away than one can possible imagine, so use it very rarely and for short periods of time. There is another flashlight called "Military" one, which gives red light. Much less visible. While using a flash, you can not use a pistol, though, so ideally you want to either use a weapon that has a flashlight on it (like the pistol G17) or replace it with some other way of finding yourself in the dark.

Looted a REAL downed chopper last night...
Stworca replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It reminds me of the time i've seen a landing go terribly wrong. Three minutes later the server has restarted, outside of the schedule. I wonder who might've been inside that chopper.. hmm.. ^_^ -
Humanity would be that random meter that makes the Debug Monitor bigger, and thus obstructing more of my screen, right? I have yet to find a use for it, other than temporarily changing my outfit until i get a ghilie. What? Bandits get shot at more often? Roflcopter, no. Everyone gets shot at by everyone. Try shouting "Friendly in Cherno" while having a hero outfit.
-
Odd that you don't get humanity by killing bandits
Stworca replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, in some cases killing a bandit should give humanity. I mean, a bullet to the head is obviously a murder, he could've just picked up that scarf he's wearing, and is aiming at you with that scoped rifle to better see if you're a threat. But shooting him in the leg, and then letting zombies feast on him, while laughing to his screams, and taking pictures of you next to his dead body.. You know what.. I think i forgot what my post was supposed to be about. -
I'm aggressive in DayZ, because i was repeatedly dropped as a child, abused in high school, and am too scared to give in to the endless sea of hatred in any other way than in video games. My friend has a very small.. pencil.. in his office, and his aggression comes from that. It also happens to fire blanks. My son in law, xXSnip0r99Xx has no life whatsoever, is still a virgin and reacts the only way he can - killing people in DayZ. The only explanation, isn't it? Nope. Some people do not speak English, the ones that do, either do it poorly, have no microphones, don't know how to use microphones or are alt tabbed. Everyone else is just playing to kill other people. The OTHER only explanation, right? Wrong. We are aggressive, because some of us just find the game too easy without PvP / lack of endgame is leaving us no other option than to pvp, after you gear up (which can be done in an hour tops, if you've played the game for some time) Yes? No. Maybe we're just KOS out of fear and / or previous dealings with people who shot at us on sight, and so the great, endless circle of murder is fueled? Maybe the reasons are Roleplaying ones? Actuall zombie apocalypse would turn many of us into bandits, who would turn on their own friends if need be... Perhaps.. The answer is all of the above, and then some. Now stop making them long posts, and announce that you're friendly in Cherno, so that i can shoot at you, before somebody eventually downs me, before getting killed himself.

Unless it was fixed, bear traps can actually disappear, and still remain 'there'. Which leads to broken legs 'out of nowhere'. An optimist could think that every time you break your leg while crouching inside a building, or falling from 5 inches, there is actually an invisible bear trap responsible for that. That same optimist would also broadcast that he's friendly, while entering Cherno. To answer your question : Unless you look at your legs, you can easily miss a bear trap, if it even is still visible at all.
-
Nobody sprints around bear-trap tents, unless they can apply morphine before hitting the ground with their forehead.
-
When i spot unconcealed tents, i just leave bear traps around them.
-
Depends on the death. If I die during a firefight on the airfield / mowed down by a heli / sniped by someone who found me before i find him, i'm fine with dying. What i fear are deaths that are a result of trying to vault over an object, break a leg and get swarmed by zombies, or die to a bloody server hopper. The better items i pack, the more the first list decreases, and the second one gets longer and longer. Still, if not for this incredible tension, DayZ would be like watching paint dry.

Amazing, heroic, epic rescue with helicopters, silenced automatic weapons and grenades. You have my beans!
