Hi, I recently discovered I was banned from UK 119. After a conversation with Gogster, I found out I was flagged as a cheater because of this: 04.08.2012 12:40:14: Churches (86.143.193.158:2302) 7bb8f8233bf13c070055fc9d27bc8e89 - #125 dummy"]; _dummy = [_this,"players"] execVM "\ca\ui\scripts\dedicatedServerInterface.sqf"; Obviously, I'll begin by saying I do not cheat :) I think I triggered the cheat flag by messing around with my in-game map. I hadn't had one before and so one day I checked out the menu it has. One of the buttons you can click is "Server control", which does not initially appear but shows up after clicking "Notes", for instance. Out of curiosity, I clicked it and got kicked. And now I'm banned from UK 119. I've submitted the presence of that button as a bug. I'd like the ban lifted as I do (or did) play on that server, and I want my name cleared. Apart from this one flag you'll find no evidence on any other server of me doing anything illegal. Surely a cheater would simply try something else on another server? I'm also confused about the flag saying my IP is 86.143.193.158. Maybe it means something else, as my IP starts with 109.150. Or someone copied my name, but I can't imagine that. Please lift my ban. I'm happy to provide any further info if required. There are hundreds of other servers I can play on but I just want this one blemish off my "record". It's undeserved. Thanks, Churches

Thanks for the reply Gogster. Please don't put me in the "anti-admin crowd". I honestly am not trying to be adversarial here. You say it's only my word I did nothing wrong. I say it's only your word I did something wrong. Apart from that button click, there is zero evidence. And there is no corroborating evidence elsewhere either. You'd expect a real cheater to leave traces on multiple servers. Anyway. I hope you'll agree I'm entitled to my own opinions. In this case, I think a ban is too strong a response. But I am not telling you how to run your server. I am appealing the decision to ban me, but I see that'll go nowhere. I do appreciate you're making life worse for the many hackers ruining this game. I'm happy with your detailed responses, and also with everyone here posting in my support. Even if the ban is not lifted at least it's obvious from this thread there is no real case against me. I'm happy leaving this thread as it is. No further action required.

Curiosity. I don't know what I was expecting. A list of configurations in read-only mode or something. There is no reason for the game to present this button to me. It is initially hidden, but appears when you click Notes, which leads me to believe the intent is for that button never to appear at all. Aside from curiosity, it's even possible that people accidentally click it while going for one of the other buttons. This is why I logged it as a bug as well, but I don't see the bug in the forum yet. I do understand an admin's point of view and kicking is definitely the right response. But a ban, simply because I was presented with a button to press, goes too far in my opinion. If the button had been bright red and labeled "Click me to get banned", then sure, my bad :P I was amused at getting kicked at the time and told my friends on Ventrilo. Luckily they were on other servers, as they had a look themselves, and so far have no bans to their names. It just bothers me that I am now marked as a cheater while I did nothing wrong. There's not a log in the DayZ universe that shows any other bad behaviour on my part. I did not file this appeal just to get access to three out of hundreds of servers - I filed it to clear my name. I hope BattleEye never does a global copy of local bans or something. If I run into any further trouble I can at least refer back to this post. Everyone does seem to agree that I clicked a button in the game, and never did anything else.

Thanks for confirming that Lapis! I wasn't sure if that map thing was the reason but that does make me more confident. I really hope I can get some confirmation that this ban will be lifted. It's the principle of the thing :)
