Players in Asia or Asia Pacific?
BerkshireHunt replied to BerkshireHunt's topic in General Discussion
Usually on during the weekend or afternoons and evenings...not worried about English skills...that can be improved through playing. Can't believe the player cap is at 30 on the Asia-Pacific servers....this map is too huge for so few people...I've been playing for a week and I've only seen one person. Always daylight, but a little boring so far. You guys use any Teamspeak channels for this game? It's hard to meet up with anyone else playing this game...not many people wanna play something that's just in alpha. -
Donating is ruining this game faster than the hackers
BerkshireHunt posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Any thoughts on this? People have been commenting on this since it started. Between the over-powered load-outs and favoritism showed towards donors, this game is being robbed of the fun and entertainment it used to offer. Not only that, but since people found that they could actually make money hosting a server, the DDOS attacks on profitable popular servers has become sort of a regular thing. In the last two weeks I've drifted from one Overwatch server to another because the hacking and DDOS attacks from rival servers has made the game almost unplayable. I think people need to be A LOT more cautious about who they're giving their parent's money to...you're only supporting a system of admins who now have a financial incentive to do all the stuff they used to do just for fun (tolerating hacking by friends, scripting, ignoring their friend's combat-logging, ect). The younger players and dumb-asses less savvy people donating often forget that because they're donating money rather than a paying customer, they've more or less given up their rights to expect anything in return for their money. YOU'RE NOT A PAYING CUSTOMER....YOU'RE A DONOR. HUGE DIFFERENCE. YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS AS A CONSUMER. You wouldn't give money to a complete stranger, nor would you "donate" money on good faith to someone you've only recently met...if you're going to donate, put the server on probation and wait and see how the admins handle their jobs before you decide to reward them for it. Expecting to get nuked by corrupt admins (of servers, not this site...unless of course they're the same people) and their friends...let's see.- 27 replies

Maybe in addition to white-listing players.....we should be white-listing (and black-listing) servers as well, since so many are being hosted by the same idiots that have been scripting and DDDOS-ing the game since it began. Servers that actually enforce their rules regarding combat-logging would make my white-list...if it's Eve possible to verify and enforce that kind of thing (it often isn't).

ATF Panthera Server - Admin Abuse and Privacy Violation
BerkshireHunt replied to dutch_miller's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Speak with your feet. These days it seems like a lot of servers have some suspect shit going on. I don't go to this server any more for reasons related to the above complaints and more. Any site that needs to state, with Global Admin that "accusations of hacking by admins or other players" constitutes disrespect or that "whining" isn't allowed isn't just a jab at paranoid noobies crying whenever they get smoked...it means they actively and regularly engage in behavior that will eventually discourage people from frequenting their server and they get called out for it so often they need to make a server rule to stem the tide of complaints about it. Griping about a server where admins are doing suspect stuff is going to get you nowhere, because they (and all the friends that benefit from whatever they're doing on their server) will flood the thread with counter-attacks and recriminations. Noobs have to ask more questions about how to tell hacking from one of the games/mods many bugs, glitches, and the rainbow of problems that come after de-sync. After that, if something still smells fishy, find another server. -
1.7.2.6: new servers NOT spawning vehicles

dayz players are racist
BerkshireHunt replied to synnyster tick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I thought this was going to be about all the damn racist userID's with "nigger" in them. -
Screw the vehicle hoarders. Props.

If you have a crap IP...you're gonna have a bad time. Don't blame the game. I live in Korea, which is pretty much lost in the asscrack of the world and I still get decent pings in the morning and night. Another guy I used to play with discovered that his IP was infamous among gamers for having the worst pings for pretty every game in existence...but people who went with the other company played the game with little or no problem.
-
Basically, if you're not a member of my group...you're getting harvested. I assume everyone thinks the same. Are there any people left who don't just shoot others on sight? I shot a guy a day or two ago because he was looting something next to my teammate and probably would have shot him after he got geared up. My guy's a noob...but I don't let my group get shot at if I can help it.
-
The soldier zombies already have the advantage of having a helmet, which makes getting a headshot a bit harder. Helmets would actually be decent loot, especially if they could be equipped.
-
Sounds like hackers. They'll get over it.

Sorry if this has already been answered, if so...please refer me to the existing thread for this subject. Didn't have time to check the wole site first...did do a search. I've been playing with one other person and we've been using Steam voice chat...but now there's two or three others that are joining our group...so we need a better way to do this. I know many people use Skype...but I wanted to know what others use and why. Thanks.

Looking For Someone/Someones to Play with!
BerkshireHunt replied to Neko (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Val, there are like four guys playing Dayz in Korea (foreigners...about 30 Korean dudes)...playing with a group of friendlies is just more fun. I'm usually on in the morning, late at night, and here and there on the weekend. I use the Singapore, Japanese, and Korean in the morning and sometimes US servers at night. Singapore and Korea seem to have the lowest pings for me. PM me if you wanna team up. -
I should start by saying: I'm not a hacker, I didn't do this. Just saw it. A friend and I were meeting up in Cherno after spawning on opposite sides of it...and finds a mysterious crate on the beach. The crate is filled with insane amounts of gear, every kind of gun, ammo, ghillies, cooked meat, antibiotics, you name it. More crap than anyone could ever use or carry away. We stood there for a good fifteen to twenty minutes looking at what was inside and talking about it. Meanwhile, there was crashed heli (this is on Cap Galova) and the sky was on fire. We helped ourselves to some stuff and some assclown with a Remi starts shooting at us, so we split. Anyone else experience something like that? Should I conclude that all hackers are not evil cretins whose only joy in life is ruining everyone's DayZ experience? Very weird.

Playing DayZ COMPLETELY Free?
BerkshireHunt replied to Specialist (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Since I'm not a developer, it shouldn't be a huge surprise that I don't know anything about dev. It's the fact that I know diddly-squat about programming that makes other people's knowledge about it a valuable commodity. For that reason, I really think that both Steam and Behemoth should be cutting Mr. Rocket a sizable check, since many people (myself included) who never played a tactical shooter let alone Arma or Arma 2 and would never have bought either if not for him. I've played mods before. The Oblivion Lost mod for STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl by Kanyhalos was not only bloody EPIC, it turned a nearly unplayable wreck of a game into one of the best games I ever played. Pretty much everything Bethesda has produced was either so riddled with bugs and exploits that you wonder how many people they have to fire every time they release a game..in retrospect, it seems like they didn't fire anyone...they just kept all their morons on staff. Their games have given an inexhaustible well of potential mods and simply bad programming that needed fixing. Were they badly designed games with character rendering that seems like it would be more at home in the 90's? Yeah, but they were entertaining for a little while. Rocket's definitely a talent that should be put on payroll for Arma 3, no argument there. He deserves swimming pools filled with loose women, cash, and an limitless supply of his favorite vice. The point I was making is that people tout this game as WICKED SICK without tempering their review by discussing the massive amount of patience and time that goes into simply trying to play the mofo (after every time you die, thanks BattleEye/hackers). Consumers don't make things happen, they consume. I just think the numerous downsides of the game is being downplayed when players are yodeling its praises from every mountaintop. Accepting thing uncritically is childlike...judging something on ALL its merits and its faults is what adults should do (but frequently don't). Unconditional love is for dogs, not PC gaming, bro. -
Playing DayZ COMPLETELY Free?
BerkshireHunt replied to Specialist (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
People talk about buying this game (as well as others) instead of pirating and they frequently mention that they have "no regrets". Those people are all children. If you're an adult gamer your know how hard free time is to come by. You have a job, a spouse, a child that deserves your attention, and maybe a long-suffering pet or two that craves the occasional snorgle. Here are my regrets about buying this game and keep in mind that they would not be fewer if I had a pirated version...I totally appreciate that: -finding a server with a low enough ping and correct version. I live in Korea. Fㅂck me, right? What's Rocket gonna do about that? What can he do? Just sayin...it's just one more thing on top of a dozen other things... -getting stuck on each of the half-dozen or so loading screens for an average of ten minutes each time you join a server, even though the game uses the same damn map on pretty much every server. Don't try to blame my IP...I paid extra for a bitchin connection and play at night when almost nobody is online. -the hourglass for death...because we didn't have to wait long enough for all the other crapola in the game, we also have to get penalized for getting smoked by Sgt. Douchetard (or another Hacker that BattleEye missed) every time we loot somewhere that isn't a barn -the bugs, graphic glitches...who do I send money to so that they'll be properly motivated to fix this? -zombies that can see in the dark, have hearing that would shame a dog, and can sprint for 30-40 minutes...some even take a headshot but don't go down... -the hackers seem to outnumber the legit players...very few of them are "white-hat" hackers... -servers that consistently spawn next to no loot/weapons/meds/vehicles but have no trouble spawning the undead by the screaming multitude... -random injured/death spawns, broken bones, ect that just spontaneously occur I've read reddit and the other sites. I know there are millions of fan-boys lined up to simultaneously fellate Gaben and Rocket...but if you're going to projectile vomit rainbows out of both ends about this game, save it for the kids who seem to have endless hours to invest in this game (study much?)...adult consumers (a large if not the majority of the market of the gaming customers) are going to quickly appreciate how different the representation differs from reality. Don't get me wrong, when the game works...it's awesome...but can you, in good conscience run screaming through the interwebs that everyone should pony up for a game that works sorta well about 40% of the time (on a good day)? Just sayin. -
The label "sniper" sounds ominous...but actually not all snipers are created equal. In fact, most of them are not very good. There are a lot of uber guys out there...I hope they have some sort of criteria for shooting people, other than just to ruin someone's game. Anyone with sniper gear probably doesn't need to loot corpses...so...why bother?
-
If there was nothing to lose, getting it would not be fun. Live til you die, laugh til you cry.
-
A true badass would take out snipers who are geared up and active. That guy wasn't a threat to anyone...yet. You wanna do everyone a favor...then shoot those doucherockets that are picking off noobs for in Cherno and Electro...better loot that way anyhow.

Looking for players in Seoul, South Korea
BerkshireHunt replied to calzonius the friendly's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're now added. You can voice chat in Steam directly with other players...unless you know of a better way. Ideally we'd have a team of four or five guys and all of us can use a com system. Anyways, even though a lot of players are sort of hostile to new players...I still wanna check it out and have fun on some of the Asian servers. Singapore, Korea, and Japan are good during the day and many of the US servers are okay at night. The Japanese don't make any attempt to communicate and their default reaction to other players is to PK them. The Koreans are a little more friendly. -

Hi. I'm Mike...my Steam ID is earthling28p and I'm on sporadically (depending on my morning business class sched)...but I play pretty often. In-game name is HungFarLow....there's a few other guys I've hooked up with on Dave's ESL...if there's more of us that wanna team up that would be great. I'm still sort of noob after two weeks but my aim is pretty good most times. Let me know if you want to meet up. -
I suck at PVP...still a noob after a week and a half. Anyways, I can shoot or dodge anything that doesn't shoot back and administer meds...so I figure a medic class would be cool for this game. Not everyone has to be misanthropic psychopath. In this role...I'll treat anyone...bandits, loners, groups, whatever. If I don't have meds, I'll run and get some if you can wait. I will avoid killing the living if at all possible. If you mistakenly fire on me but let it be known, we'll get patched up and go on our ways. Had a lot of fun playing support to a much better Korean player yesterday and stayed alive a bit longer. If you see me and you need help, let me know. If you kill me, I can't help you. Don't be a dick, let it happen. I'll be [KOR]Dr.Acula[MEDIC]. I can speak some Spanish, Korean, French, and from STALKER I know a little Russian. See you around.
