    The Decline of DayZ

I haven't been infected recently, but it's happened in the last month or so. All it does is slowly drain your blood until 6k and makes you cough. It won't actually kill you. Just hinder you. It doesn't really have any teeth to it. Basically, you catch a cold. I agree on the building walking. That has to go in the standalone. I also just want them faster. Or at least, some of them have to be faster, because even without buildings all you have to do is find some bushes or pine trees and lose them there. Lethal zombies and the ability to use the hatchet more easily would be a nice give and take to balancing survivability. I hate that the best way to loot a town is to just ignore zombies, sprint to the grocery and medium-high values, grab shit and sprint out. I'm sure in the standalone a huge number of the current flaws will be addressed. The premise for the game is great and my only real concern is end game. What do you do after you've got your ghillie, NVGs, GPS, Mk 48 and AS50? There's still tons of things they could do. The obvious answer is try to rebuild society. You could almost take Day Z on a sort of Travianesque angle, where if you group up you're encouraged to ally, combat with and backstab others all while the bigger your camp gets, the more savage the zombie attacks get on your fortifications. Tons of potential with this game. It'll be fun to see what they add to the standalone version.

    Finding Your Perfect Gun

M14 just handles well. It feels right. I know I should like the MK 48 more. But I don't. Mixed feelings on all the snipers. I wanted to love the SVD but I didn't.

    The Decline of DayZ

End game gets boring unless you can entertain yourself. Running around in the north by yourself with little to do isn't fun, so people go to Cherno to kill people, and other people go to Cherno to kill those people, etc. Unfortunately end game now is moving back to spawn points. Short term options are to deal with it, or forcing yourself to go north en masse. Stop sniping Cherno. Start sniping Vybor. At least it'll move the action where it belongs. Hopefully in the future, the zombies will become more of a menace. It would be great if they could catch you. I'd love it if there were significant repercussions to even being bitten, i.e. player death, turning into a zombie, spreading the infection more quickly with zombie bites, etc, and the paranoia that goes with it. Conversely, it would be nice if you could "take back" an area permanently as well with enough fortification. This is almost doable already, if they fix the whole zombies walk through walls thing. They can go a lot of directions with this game and I look forward to seeing what they do with it. The hacking and cheating I expect will be fixed simply via an engine that doesn't allow people to run any old script they like.
  4. I'm partial to that Russian Firehouse Massacre video.
  5. I had just found a little building with a hatchet. To avoid the zombie spawn, I closed the door behind me while prone. Bad move. 15 minutes in and after carefully avoiding all zombie encounters, I had a broken leg and no morphine. And a hatchet. I crawled off down the road in what I believe was the direction of Elektro, hatcheting zombies that got too close. I made it about 100m before another new spawn ran up with a pack of zombies in tow, which I began to axe. There were too many though. I was eaten. Doors are bad.

Best Gun For Close Range Players?

MK 48 imo. 8000 dmg per hit, full auto, aim point, 100 round belts.
  7. 600. I came down on a hill on the motorcycle full speed, then ran up a ditch while trying to turn. Bike sort of did a flipping barrel roll through the air, then hit the ground. Broken bones, shock, bleeding, unconscious. Came out and bandaged as I was ticking down. It was a pretty awesome tumble though.

    MP5SD6 or M4A1 CCO SD?

M4 no brainer imo. Far and away the best zombie killing gun in the game.

    Healthy Servers

I'm not sure if you can save and keep new vehicles. Our group lost our UAZ, Ural, V35, ATV and even the bicycle after a restart, all of which we'd had for over a week. Helicopter too, though that was a very recent addition before the problems started. Attempts to get new vehicles are wasted as they disappear after a restart as well. Tents were still there, but changes to tents don't seem to save. Very occasionally one will save new inventory, but more often than not they empty out or teleport (one tent I set wound up nearly 1000m away- It was mine though. I could even pack it up). Not sure what the issue is, but I've basically given up on attempts at playing home maker for the time being. EDIT: We did retain one vehicle- A bus. A bus that we never fixed in the first place. A bus we never drove to our base. A bus that occasionally seems to just randomly show up where we are. It's really strange and creepy.
