The RV engine has always been developed in iteration. Arma 2:OA had many improvements on Arma 2, which lead to the Arma 2 engine being updated with improvements from Arma 2:OA.The reason VR4 engine is taking so long because of the new staff brought in to work on it, and it's complexity. Changing one feature affects another feature, sometimes negatively. It is taking a lot of hard work. I imagine because of it's alpha state and constant release of updates, steam won't be an option. I think minecraft had some issue with that when it came out in an alpha state. ...I heard steam went about and changed the agreement to accommodate minecraft though, so maybe?

Problem is, if I deliver, then the OP can't deliver. -

Yep. Yep.Arma 2 is full of content, don't know why you'd be so sad about it.

My 2nd post that you quoted sums it all up. If you guys continue this discussion, whether for or against, I will lock the thread and issue warnings. (The posts I am referring to have been hidden)

is this another thread I need to stomp on? EDIT: Cleaned out off-topic discussions. We have entire forums dedicated to talk about the issues with the current DayZ release. Keep this on GamesCon please.

Hackers - What you need to know.

ragdoll physics will probably be the best thing introduced in to the Arma engine

You should really be leap-frogging your PC upgrades...that's the benefit of owning a PC. Upgrade 1 component 1 year, and upgrade another, another year...and so on. I usually do RAM/GPU one year, mobo/CPU another year

Haha, I've always been "green", just had to advertise it in response to recent events. The "One-line questions for Rocket" thread will be answered by Rocket in future.
-
OP updated. New link at the bottom with Rocket answering questions about the standalone.
-
Cut the crap, stay on topic
-
Both answers are true
-
It will be made public when everything is set in stone...devs don't want to announce something that they can't back up.
-
30 pages and still on topic. Grats.
-
I imagine the forum will be the same
-
Short answer? Uncharted territory, continually adding features and bug testing them
-
I'm not sure you fully understand the process.Private Hive and Lingor is made by the community, and in theory should be supported by the community. It is not supported by the dev team, so issues with those things are not to be addressed to the devs or to other people in DayZ general discussion.

Will arma 3 engine be plagued by hackers too?
griffinz replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What is going to happen is that this community will move to the DayZ standalone, and that standalone will hopefully place restrictions on scripts. I assume the Arma 3 community will still have access to in-game scripting, because it is a simulation (and not competitive) and sometimes necessary. -
Devs have enough on their plate right now

All links in the OP are official, and their content is updated by Bohemia Interactive employees. That includes the Bohemia Interactive facebook page, complete with the banner that includes DayZ. The same banner in the OP.
-
Ok, did you try the official DayZ standalone website, linked in the OP?
-
Is that a serious question?

You forget it's the parents that buy most of the games for kids
