It has been stated very early on from a dev that PvP is here to stay. The changing skins was a compromise

Swearing is fine in this forum bro, as long as its not directed at anyone. We're under the assumption most of the people who can get their head around Arma is 16+

The player in me agrees with OP. The mod in me says I better not moderate it.

How many people have you converted?

For those who are stuck on "Waiting for Character Data"...
griffinz posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This is embarrassing, but I was in the same boat, until I noticed there were THREE files you needed to download, not 1. This is also the case when you wait for ages, and spawn in the pre-deployment area (the middle of nowhere). Re-read thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=443 As soon as I downloaded the 2 larger files, instant load  -
Installing mod with Gamersgate Combined ops purchase.
griffinz replied to Jamesbiff's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
^Nope, shouldn't be...but you will need to talk to someone who purchased Combined Ops. I have only had Arma 2, then bought Arma 2:OA when that came out, and manually turned them in to Arma:CO. -

OK this is a bit out of my area of knowledge... Did they automatically install in the same folder, or did you make them install in to the same folder? (ie. custom install: install in to arma 2 directory) -

If theyre under the same folder, but are separated within the folder, thats fine. Im not really sure how youve laid it out...can you copy-paste the directory address of both .exes (arma 2, arma2:oa) EDIT: I'll watch the Arma:CO video and see what you've done...give me a few minutes -
Installing mod with Gamersgate Combined ops purchase.

I didn't see the video sorry. You haven't provided enough info above, so I'll do my best: Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead need to be in separate folders. Arma 2's "Addons" folder needs to be copied in to the main directory of Arma 2:OA (copy and replace). The "@DayZ" folder should be placed in the Arma2:OA directory also (may work in "Expansions" too, though I've never tried it) A shortcut to the Arma2:OA .exe should then be made (to desktop or wherever). Right-click on the shortcut -> Properties -> Shortcut At the end of the "target" line, type: -mod=@DayZ Click ok. Run shortcut -

Keep it clean guys, I'm watching you O_O -
He says Australasian in his post...that works

Jonnerz is looking to host one in the near future (maybe), and is taking donations. Rocket (the head dev) also talked about opening up a NZ server in the future...but that is no certainty.

Firstly, welcome to DayZ mod, and the Arma community. I just wanted to point out that his mod IS in the ALPHA stage. That means that it's not officially "released" as a complete product, and therefore is going to have problems. Your job, as a player, is to report the bugs you find, and offer help to other players on how to troubleshoot other problems. If we all do this, we can make it much easier for the mod developers to release a complete, bug-free product (which I hear is compatible with Arma 3 ;)) Thanks, Griff

Servers are started up and run by the community, not the mod team.

You may have copied the JayArma2lib files in to your main Arma Addons folder. You should not do this with ANY mod. Each mod has its own "Addons" folder that gets included in to the main Addons folder when the mod is called. You need to go to your main Addons folder in your arma directory, and delete any mod file (hopefully just JayArma2). ...unless you are still calling the mod (@JayArma2lib) on start-up. Then in that case, just remove the call from the launcher options line.
-
Firstly, you need combined ops (or in your case, Arma 2:Operation Arrowhead). Then you need to copy the "Addons" folder from Arma 2 to Arma2:OA directory. Then you need to create a shortcut to the Arma 2:OA .exe (which is essentially now Arma:CO) Then you need to type the following in the shortcut target line: "-mod=@DayZ" (nothing else)
-
damn cheating mods!
-
Delete "dsound.dll" from your main Arma 2 directory, should fix it. JayArma2lib_new is for beta versions of arma. The ONLY mod you can run to play DayZ is @DayZ
-
you need to run the line "-mod=@DayZ" Put that in the shortcut target line, otherwise if your in steam, put that line in the launch options

PMC: The starting player model. I already had the BAF expansion from last year. Has a good campaign in Takistan, and some good vehicle/weapon skins
