It's this kind of behavior that makes this community such a cesspool of abuse and witlessness.Time for another mod recruitment drive I think... -
Locking thread again, and cleaning out the off-topic discussions. Will unlock when patch is out.

Can an M107 take out a Helicopter?
griffinz replied to Jangowuzhere's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You want some real lols? Go to Arma's armory (single-player), and try out the M109... -
I was actually doing this at the start. I would listen to Rocket/Tonic/Dwarden etc. and pass on info to the community that wasn't considered sensitive. All that happened was people getting pissed off at me regarding any changes to the game. Besides, the TS server we used is all but dead now. I've become extremely busy with my day-time commitments, and the dev team has obviously become swamped with work.

Actually, that one is my job :)

Arma 2 came out in 2009. There is a reason the engine is easily injected with scripts; it was necessary for the target market. Most people who play Arma aren't playing competitively, they are playing for sim-related reasons. Also Arma is based off of a military training sim. A lot of the times there needs to be on-the-fly modification of a scenario. The engine is doing exactly what it was designed for. The community; however, is exploiting this with disregard for their peers.

Oh jeez... -
Everyone chill out... The target date for patch releases is just that; a target. It can be missed. Also take in to account that there are now ~1,000,000 unique players, so there's a lot more pressure on the dev team to release a robust patch that doesn't break the game in any significant way. This means more time in testing. I also want to remind you guys that Rocket may well be patching this mod while simultaneously developing the stand-alone version. Please be patient, no-one likes listening to spoiled brats screaming "me me me me now now now now" :)

I can't go into detail on how the system works, but I guess it can be flawed...alpha, free mod, etc...
-
I've been out of the loop lately due to RL commitments, but generally people need to do some research before playing this game. Whether for installing the mod, or how to work the UI, somewhere along the way you'll come across talk of hackers, and how to avoid being a victim.

Directional Sound, that is all I want
griffinz replied to Rakkasan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Arma has directional sound. It's pretty standard. Check your settings. -
There is a system in place that checks inventory against allowed items in-game.

A BattleEye ban will only take place if you truly "hack" the game (script injections, security breaching, etc.)
-
They will be banned from DayZ, not Arma 2. DayZ is a free mod, so regardless why they purchased Arma 2, the money they spent was on Arma 2, and they will still have Arma 2.
