    More Scenes

Hey guys, My suggestion is based on scenes, so for example things that happened before, each location in Chernarus should tell a story about what happened before. There are some items you can take from already existing tragedies and others from human nature, so for example lines of traffic forming its way out of a built up area, or large amounts of bodies piled up for burning. These kind of items give the area atmosphere, they also help to create a diversion, there's nothing like looking at a pile of bodies to be jumped on by zombies. I think The Walking Dead hits a heavy nail on this one, its also the little stories which count such as houses you enter and in what way they were left, maybe find a dead person on the bed etc. Maybe add a few crashed planes and choppers, more dead bodies around the place. I understand also that these things take time so don't think I'm upset with the current standard as its great :), very pleased with how things are.

    12th Mechanized [RGG/RAR]

Hey everyone just an update! we have recently moved forums and now have a new homepage, to check it out visit us at www.12thmechanised.com/homepage youll find a large amount of news and informtion concerning the games and mods we play such as Arma 2/3 and the DayZ standalone and we are very much looking forward to both! :) Best Regards Dale
  4. We dont kill fresh spawns, give an example such as proof/evidence towards what you have stated, if you provide relevant information towards this then we will do our best to control such activities. Obviously as this is a private hive you will have to deal with the simple fact that our admins are spread out over several mods and servers. Just to notify everyone we have recently taken the white list off, this will continue for a period of time till we see fit to put it back on again.

Hey everyone just an update as to what were doing regarding DayZ, weve recently got a Private hive up and running, just search [RGG] in play with six, its based on tavania :) Best Regards Dale
  6. I know for a fact that people would use sniper rifles in a zombie apocolypse as it suits the military styled tactics available, lone wolfing and spending time scoping an area before moving in, and as a previous poster stated you would need to have an entry and exit strategy on to the mark. As for the the ability of the Sniper, it needs to be nerfed to the average human being, the simple fact is that an actual sniper spotter team is massively better at firing than a single civilian. For example the average engagement range of a normal human being without military training is around 200 meters, whereas a trained rifleman engages at around 400 to 500 meters (latest figures afghan) http://www.dtic.mil/cgi-bin/GetTRDoc?AD=ADA512331. Now if you think an average civilian can pick up a sniper rifle and use it at ranges longer than 200 meters your in the minority, the scope wouldnt count no matter how you applied it as the scope is only to give an idea of where the enemy is, true marksmanship comes from knowing the bullet physics and the environment around it by shooting it thousands of times. Therefore this requires either a skill input, the more you use a weapon the more stable it becomes, in game this would be concieved via the weapon deviation and the scope movement and would be improved with zombie kill count and player kill count so the more youve killed the more stable the weapon becomes. In effect bringing in an experience factor (say 250 zombie kills would = maximum stability) This would negate the effect of hackers also because they cant just jump in jump out anymore theyve actually got to play the game for a while before they can use the weapon effectively. This should affect all rifles except pistols which dont really matter anyway, this would mean that using rifles or sniper rifles outside of 200 meters wouldnt be as effective anymore. which would bring it back down to average joe standards. Also to take your comments on amounts who would survive is pointless, youve got to look at factual data and currently there are 1,476,414 players on DayZ overall and thats how many "survived", so base your opinions on that rather than "40" people left which is an assumption.
  7. Yeah thats us, mainly we are focusing on getting more players on the server, weve already got quite a few but we want to try and get double the amount required to be whitelisted. If this works out we hope to get some more up and running in the future expanding as the need arises. Anyone is welcome and as always we have other services you may use such as TS3 server and a steam group so that you can find other players etc. Please be warned though just because this is a private hive doesnt mean we are going to go easy on you, we still enjoy highly competitive gameplay and we are a PvP clan for Arma Primarily, so its not going to be an easy stay on our server we dont just all sit around and smoke weed while collecting massive amounts of beans (except contra)

    12th Mechanized [RGG/RAR]

Well this isnt the usual way we recruit members ill give you that, also the long thread is more of a "cant be arsed" as I didnt want to make 3 threads linked to each other. and yes you are correct that we haven't received any pm's per say on the DayZ forums. the overall reason I did put the thread on is due to presence, if we dont try to recruit from all places to do with Arma then we will get a stale experience, I dont want to play one mod for ages and then one day find it doesnt interest me anymore. I also dont want to play a mod by myself as thats even more boring :) So having a few players from DayZ who are not too passionate about DayZ and are willing to play a variety of mods so we get a varied experience is important to me and the rest of the lads.

    12th Mechanized [RGG/RAR]

Well I thank you for your concern but the idea that a DayZ player is too casual for exactly the same as what they do on DayZ minus Zombies is a bit odd, in fact I would say that DayZ players are less casual in a lot of respects, part of the reason we are recruiting here is because the general player group is more PvP orientated. Also are you saying that well written text doesn't belong on DayZ? :D I hardly think thats fair tarring everyone with the same brush lol. Best Regards Dale

    12th Mechanized [RGG/RAR]

Wrong mod? how come its the same game, just because we play another mod more it doesn't mean we rule out DayZ altogether tbh. Also [RGG]'s main focus is PvP therefore you'll see a few in DayZ, Although most of them play Project Reality as there's more focus on PvP than DayZ. Also you would be surprised void at how much the military use different colored markings on a map, mainly to state which squad goes where to a room of 40 people would be chaos with just one color, another thing is that we are focused on making gameplay easier therefore the idea of using an actual map to pour over is a very good idea. But yeah don't think because there are a few of us in the Military that we are instantly going to be asking for you to say yessir etc, were just looking to get the best out of an evening after work, thats why we mainly focus on the older lads (over 25) because we know they can take an order without getting upset. Best Regards Dale

Regiment of the Grenadier Guards [RGG]Motto "Teamwork, Teamwork, Teamwork!" Introduction: The Regiment of the Grenadier Guards is a clan founded on Teamwork and Communication, and we are an internationally based clan, based on the Grenadier Guards of the British Army we aim to replicate them as best as possible. Therefore we are mainly an Infantry unit and we primarily focus on infantry based tactics, you will find that we have weekly training so as to practice tactics which we use in battle situations, you will find that as a member of our team you will soon earn respect for being good at a particular role. To be a part of RGG means to be part of an open group who look at their strengths and weaknesses together so that we can better ourselves, we are not pure military orientated but we do use a lot of military protocol such as tactics, you will often find we alter certain aspects of military protocol to better fit the games aspects so as to streamline our manoeuvres. So if you think you have what it takes to be a tactically orientated player who communicates with his/her team then give us a try, if you don’t want to join you can always say no or you like the look of us but don’t want to join just give us a visit as we’ve always got something interesting going on (Events, Training etc). I hope to see you on the Battlefield . LtCol.Da Freak Resources: Here is a list of places or people you may contact us through, you’ll find that we have a variety of people available or on call at all times, also due to our recent acquisition of the dedicated server you will be able to acquire administrators through this portal too. Newsletter: We have a newsletter which comes out monthly, it contains the latest news on the Armaverse whether its release dates or maybe an interesting mod, we will also soon be releasing mod reviews etc. To subscribe click here Requirements: 16-18 = Private to Lance Corporal 18+ = Any Rank Must have a Microphone You must be Teamwork and Communications Orientated Contactable People LtCol.Da Freak: Email: DaFreak@rggprclan.com Steam: Steam Profile Brig.Dale Email: Dale@12thmechanised.com.com Steam: Steam Profile Forums/Groups Please join us on any number of sites to follow us Regiment of the Grenadier Guards Homepage Regiment of the Grenadier Guards Forums Game Tracker Steam Group Public Xfire Group Facebook Twitter Also our associated Groups/Mods Project Reality, A.C.E, ACRE, Invasion 1944, Modern Combat:CoH Teamspeak 3 Teamspeak Rules TS IP: 85.25.99.104 Dedicated Server(s): Server Rules: [server Rules Link] Disclaimer: Some of these vids were not made by [RGG] Members. You may also join either our Officer Training directly or you can join in to one of the platoons directly, we currently have 3 Platoons plus headquarters, each Platoon is lead by an Officer (2nd Lieutenant) and each section is lead by a Sergeant. Platoons and Sections: So just for a quick update on Platoons and Sections, if you are applying directly to a Section or Platoon you must be at least 16 years of age, each section is comprised of 8 to 13 people and each platoon is comprised of 2 to 4 Sections. I will now describe each Platoon and Section in detail to give you an idea of what they do and where they specialise in, bear in mind that you can go down the usual training method of doing nothing in particular and choosing later if you want, this is mainly for people who know what they enjoy doing and want to carry on. You may also change sections at a later date if you want to, so I am now going to describe each platoon and section in numerical order with images to help with understanding the differences between each. 1st Platoon: 1st Platoon is our infantry platoon and is led by 2ndLt.Da Freak, this platoon is comprised of 4 sections, 2 Light Infantry sections, a Heavy Infantry section (FSG) and a Nijmegen Section (SF). The idea of this platoon is to provide the bread and butter of our forces and will be the larger part of our forces, you will be trained on the three major weapons this platoon uses in basic training (Rifle, GL and MG), and you will be proficient in small arms combat. I will now go into detail on each Section: 1 Section “Light Infantry”: 1 Section is a Light infantry section currently led by Sgt.TheFriendlyOldMan, it is comprised of 3 fireteams (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie) Each Fireteam consists of 3 men, 1 fireteamlead and all fireteams are lead by one Section Leader(SQL), the Light Infantry are generally required to do all the difficult tasks of capturing locations and deploying as a rapid response to enemy threats. The section will generally consist of a medic, Light AT, Heavy AT, Grenadiers, machine Gunner (GPMG’s/L110A1) and a Marksman (LSW) with several standard grunts (assault rifles). You will generally be supported by other sections whereby you will use their specialist skills to call in field support allowing you to be the center of the forces; therefore you must have good communications skills and work in a team. 2 Section “Light Infantry”: 2 Section is a Light Infantry section currently led by Sgt.Craig, it is also comprised of 3 fireteams (Delta,Echo,Foxtrot) Each Fireteam consists of 3 men, 1 fireteamlead and all fireteams are lead by one Section Leader(SQL), the Light Infantry are generally required to do all the difficult tasks of capturing locations and deploying as a rapid response to enemy threats. 3 Section “Heavy Infantry”: 3 Section is a Heavy Infantry section and currently has no section leader (please apply if interested), it is comprised of 3 fireteams (Golf,Hotel,India) Each Fireteam consists of 3 men, 1 fireteamlead(FTL) and all fireteams are lead by one Section Leader(SQL), this section is a Fire Support Group (FSG) so it is purely using long range static weapons. Each Fireteam will consist of two weapons carriers and two ammo carriers/guards, this will be consistent with two fireteams (Golf/Hotel) and the last fireteam(India) will be the general purpose fireteam with a medic and some more ammo bearers if needed. 4 Section “Nijmegen”: The Nijmegen section is a “tough nut” section and to be a part of this section you must be THE BEST, any less and you will not pass the testing phase to get into the Nijmegen Section, you will be expected to be active often and you will be expected to train often. Any less than this means a boot from the Nijmegen Section. If you think you’ve got what it takes then join up. 2nd Platoon: 2nd platoon is our support platoon, the support platoon comprises of the 1 section Recon/Para and 2 section Demolitions/Artillery, they also provide part of the logistical force for the Regiment which is vital on a battlefield. 1 Section “Recce/Para”: The recce and para section is our eyes and ears of the regiment, they are deployed on special operations and usually work in pairs or fours, they are essentially very quiet and choose the right time to strike and then move out of the location quickly. The recce teams are usually a sniper/spotter team which observe and coordinate attacks on enemy forces, whereas para teams work in groups of four and are dropped behind enemy lines or onto important targets and then eliminate the threat. 2 Section “Demolitions/Artillery”: The demolitions and artillery section are focused on one thing, and that is explosions, they are also comprised of our logistical troops who will do most of the setting up of defence’s and mortar groups. They aren’t a defending force though, with artillery they will hit the target from a distance and with demolitions they will move close to the enemy locations and detonate their explosives to great effect. 3rd Platoon: 3rd platoon is our “motorised” platoon, the motorised platoon consists of two sections, the Armoured section and the Aviation section. Both sections are sub groups of the 12th mechanised and are not under the Regiment but are under the command of the regiment on operations, both sections are therefore led by two Lieutenants. Kings Royal Hussars: The Armoured Section is the strength that pushes the infantry sections and supports them up close, they are mainly there for supporting operations and are used to roll over difficult targets, to be a part of an armoured crew is to be part of a tight nit team. Usually consisting of Three crewmembers the team will work to coordinate their attack, focusing on taking out large targets and obstacles, and supporting the infantry in taking objectives by drawing attention away from the objective (becoming the objective). Army Air Corps: The Aviation section is primarily consisting of officers who are given an “Honorary” rank, as a pilot you will start off as an Officer Cadet until you pass your initial training and become a 2nd Lieutenant, you will start off in transport helicopters and work your way up towards Jets. This will mainly go on tests and hours flown, you will also receive training so as to boost your overall knowledge and you will become a vital part of the team supporting ground troops and fighting for air superiority. Well I hope you have enjoyed reading the brief descriptions on each section and Platoon, If you decide to join you will get a better understanding of how each group works in game, and in what ways the teams work together. Well I hope to see you soon LtCol.Da Freak

    12th Mechanized [RGG/RAR]

Royal Anglian Regiment [RAR]Motto "Blood before Dishonour" Introduction: We are the Royal Anglian Regiment (RAR), a new group for the game Arma 2: Combined Operations. We work with the ACE and ACRE mods, as well as the SMK mod and a few British Forces mods. We communicate via our forums and over Teamspeak 3. We are trying to achieve the most realistic British Military simulation group, but still be fun at the same time. The RAR is based on the foundation of military simulation on ops and training: Radio, Skills & Drills, Organisation, Weaponry, Vehicles and more. Everything we do is British Forces, taught by people who have actually completed 6 month tours in the real Royal Anglian Regiment. You will find that the realism element to this Regiment is unmatched. The RAR forms part of 12 Mechanised Brigade – a combat Brigade consisting of other groups aimed at different mods. RGG (Regiment of the Grenadier Guards) is a PR (Project Reality) group, the only other element at the moment, but other groups will be created in due course. Our events are as they are in the real word as well – we train and train, then we get dates for an Operational Tour. We then deploy to an area for a certain amount of time (it could vary from 3 weeks to 3 months!), and run missions in that area for the time. Our missions are also as realistic as possible – we work on the tactics used currently in Afghanistan: there is a main Patrol Base (PB), which hosts A Company. Each platoon will then go out and set up Combat Outposts (COPs), then split into its sections and set up Checkpoints at key areas in roads and villages or towns. COPs and Checkpoints rotate, and are down to the commanders decisions on the day. We train three times weekly – Tuesday and Thursday, and a longer exercise on a Saturday or Sunday. During tour-time, these are the nights we will run operations on. “The Royal Anglian Regiment is where I come from, what I will always be part of and what I know best. I deployed on operations as part of Op HERRICK 11 to Helmand Province, arguably the most violent area in Afghan. This Regiment’s key aim is to bring to life all of the best aspects of the British Army – you won’t find rank-calling, saluting or drill in this group however we expect you to obey and listen to rank on operations and in training. If you think you want to join the best Reg going, enlist today.” TheBearJew, Colonel, 12th Mechanized “Para-wings and Commando Flashes are just badges, what it really comes down to is the close up and personal, one man and his Rifle, one shared goal – Total Victory. This is what we can offer you in The Vikings. Total Victory, Total War. Every time, we win.” Michael , Major, Commanding Officer 1 Royal Anglian Regiment Maj.Michael Resources: Requirements: 16-18 = Private to Lance Corporal 18+ = Any Rank Must have a Microphone You must be Teamwork and Communications Orientated Contactable People: Maj.Michael Email: Michael@rarclan.com Steam: Steam Profile TheBearJew Email: Bearjew@12thmechanised.com Steam: Steam Profile Sgt.Dondero Email: Dondero@rarclan.com Steam: Associated Groups/Mods: A.C.E, ACRE Forums/Groups: Please join us on any number of sites to follow us Royal Anglian Regiment Forums Game Tracker Steam Group Public Facebook Dedicated Servers: TeamSpeak 3: TS IP: 85.25.99.104 Organisation 12 Mechanised Brigade HQ (have no direct input to the Regiment, but help provide servers, websites and funding) Royal Anglian Regiment - Includes Regimental Headquarters, responsible for the administration, communications and recruitment 1 Royal Anglian Regiment- Field HQ, overall command when on operations A Company – the fighting force, the Infantry 1 platoon (Air Assault) – Hard hitting Infantry soldiers, fight in more isolation than other units, perform S&R operations when other units are down or missing, form the main QRF element and Protection for QRF medical teams - however can involve waiting around and Airfield protection duties. When unloaded or transport is not available, these soldiers act as Light Infantry. 2 Platoon (Mechanised Infantry) – Operate out of armoured and light vehicles such as the Warrior IFV and Jackal II, works on the basis of getting into the middle of the fight, unloading, and storming the area with IFV protection. Other duties include re-supply convoys (better than you think, trust me!!) and long-range patrols 3 Platoon (Light Infantry) – Agile, Light and Mobile. These are attributes for the Light Infantry. These guys work on foot or out of light vehicles such as the Jackal and 110 Land Rover. This platoon is right at the front line, conducting patrols, basic reconnaissance, and are experts at fighting in built-up-areas such as villages, forests, and even cities. The heart of an Infantry unit is its Light Infantry. 4 Platoon (Fire Support Group) – These soldiers are split into two section – mortars (1 section) and anti-tank/guns (2 section). 1 section will wait behind the Infantry and provide light artillery support using 81mm and 60mm mortars, upon request. They can also double up as Light Infantry. 2 section’s job is to carry the Javelin and other AT weapons to where they are needed most – then take the enemy positions or armour clean out. Also work in demolition, and giving covering fire with GPMG, 50 cal and other very interesting weapons! You require experience in one of the Infantry Platoons before you can apply to the FSG. 5 Platoon (Recce and Sniper) – These soldiers can take pride in being the cream of the crop. 1 section are the Recce soldiers, 2 section are the Snipers. Both the Recce and Sniper courses are very mentally demanding, requiring patience, a firm state of mind and a lot of skill. They often operate without support, way behind the lines of the enemy. In addition, the Recce section is trained in advanced CQB techniques, and can perform missions such as hostage rescue or personnel extraction. The Snipers take care of long-range shooting, and are expert in their field. It takes a special kind of person to be a Recce soldier or Sniper. As a result, you require prior experience in an Infantry platoon before applying for this role. 656 SQN (Air Support) – This is where Pilots and Aircrew are based. Roles include re-supplies, Close Air Support (CAS) by helicopter and occasionally fixed-wing aircraft, Reconnaissance and ferrying troops around the battlefield. You can apply direct into this role. How to sign up Recruitment Form: post in this forum thread on our website if you wish to join up! WE ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING. MEDIC, RIFLEMEN, MARKSMEN, MACHINEGUNNER, AUTOMATIC RIFLEMAN, AT RIFLEMAN, SIGNALLER, INFANTRY DRIVER – These are all infantry roles you can become after completing phase 1 and 2 training I hope to see you soon in the field should you choose to apply!
