    Question about tent 1.7.2.5

Fixing tents won't fix duping but it would be a start. Let's take one thing at a time.

    Vehicle and Tent Saving

As nobody besides the Devs knows how tent data data is saved, nobody really knows what's going on. I think it's connected to problems with the HIVE (no leaderboards, people spawning at the beach because the HIVE forgot their location, vehicles not saving). I would think that they are working on the HIVE and how things are saved/stored in their database. Personally i would like to see tents/vehicles disabled for the time being. Of course right now one can only speculate and hope it's getting fixed soon.
  3. Good in theory, but it would destroy the game for every solo player. Right now you can't trust anybody and forcing players into a specific role would greatly decrease their freedom to do things. Let's say you need blood and aren't a medic. Just shoot the next animal hunter you see and eat all his stuff. 12.000 blood there you go. Specific roles/classes would only restrict any solo player and favor teams of players.

    Question about tent 1.7.2.5

Our team and many others don't bother with tents anymore. It's way to risky to put valuable stuff in there only to see it vanish after the next server restart. Just wait for them to be fixed.

    Inventory Damage

I personally don't like this idea. If you are careless and as a result of that get shot or hit by zombies you already get punished enough. 1) You lose blood, which if you are alone, is a mess to fill up again (eating over and over again). 2) You can get your leg broken, which results in death in many cases (if you are chased by a dozen zombies or hunted by a player). 3) You get unconcious and completely lose control of your character. I know this game is difficult and always will be but there are enough punishments in the game to give you an incentive to stay careful of your surroundings. In my honest opinion, there don't need to be more.

    humanity?

Humanity in its current state is broken. It's buggy and will probably fixed in a future patch. As far as i am informed, humanity carries over to your "next life" if you die. So if you killed many people in your DayZ lifes it's perfectly possible that you acquired such a low level of humanity. But like i said, it's bugged. Sometimes my debug monitor tells me i got 0 humanity, the next life i have -30000.
  7. I'm totally with you on this, my apologies if it came across otherwise. The problem is the current state of the suggestions forum. There should be more stickies about "hot" topics like this to get a centralized discussion about them. Currently there a dozens of threads talking about the same stuff. Don't want to bash the moderators as their job is hard enough (speaking from experience as moderator on other forums) but a little bit more moderation wouldn't hurt. Additionally there should be an option to up- or downvote suggestions to filter out very good/bad ones. Suggestions with thousands of upvotes should get the attention they deserve. As it is, they get lost in a sea of nothingness.

    NPC Civilians

Currently every decision made by a player is driven by his motivation and goals. It's a "do anything you want/do anything you can with this engine" type of game. Introducing NPCs or even quests would change that for the worse i fear. Get a group of friends and make your own quests: Who can get the most kills in a given amount of time? Who can gather the most food/ammo? Get a few vehicles and organize a race from NWAF to Cherno or something... The possibilites are almost endless when you realize how many tools you have been given..

    Question about tent 1.7.2.5

They contain the same items after every server restart. If a tent contains item A and B, you take those items out and get them back in there after the next restart. That's where all the duped items come from (old tents made prior to the bug are looted now every time the server restarts).
  10. Sure enough, i understand your point now. Maybe next time you put as much thought and energy into the starting post like you did when you posted your replies. Good evening to you, sir :)

    Zombies and Vehicles

I think that's true and should be looked at. I think we will see changes when DayZ goes stand-alone, the engine currently restricts the changes than can be done to zombies. Atleast that's what i understood hearing Rocket speak about it in interviews. Was suggested plenty of times, just search for it. I think we, the survivors, determine what this mod is about. It's like a sandbox and we take the tools given to us to interact with others. If it results in more PvP, let it be so. If people rather want to PvE and take the "slow" road, that's it. The game mechanics shouldn't be altered to benefit only certain groups of people and their interests.
  12. Well, the game is about surviving and scavenging. That's the premise of this mod. Starting with all gear available would make DayZ just like every other shooter, just in a different scenario. I think that's not what most people want. The mention of spending 30 hours to gear up, i know it's exaggerated, just made me chuckle. Spend 10 minutes in a starting town, get some food and drinks and move north. Getting items to pvp is pretty easy. Getting the real good gear on the other hand takes time and shouldn't be risked to kill some beginners in Elektro/Cherno. Time spent getting items is spent to gain an advantage. If you don't like that aspect i think this game is wrong for you. Interesting to see how some people see the game and where their motivation comes from.
  13. Ok, i get your drift but consider the following: Items are only randomized to a certain extent. Lootable buildings follow rules, you won't find military gear in barns or supermarkets. Of course the loot is random but you know in advance which loot will await you. The same goes (and should go) for vehicles. You can't expect to find a helicopter at a barn or light tower. Same goes for pickup trucks, they only spawn at barns or comparable locations. Still, to follow up your suggestion, one could think about custom "skins". Vehicles could differ by design and maybe minimal speed/storage capabilities but they shouldn't appear out of place. Implement more vehicles but restrain their spawn locations to where it is logical. I could live with that.

    Question about tent 1.7.2.5

They are broken beyond repair apparently. Our team of survivors tested every possible solution to get a working tent but every attempt failed. Just pretend they don't exist until Rocket makes them work again.
  15. Don't really see the point in this. Sure it could be implemented pretty easily (i guess) but what would you achieve in doing so? Seems pretty random to me.
  16. Most of the time (in my experience) when you are shot at you almost always end up dead (be it a 1-shot from a sniper or a few shots from a AR that make you unconcious which allows for follow-up shots). The challenge is NOT being hit, stay hidden and only reveal yourself if you can guarantee your survival. My suggestion would be decaying food/drinks or weapons being damaged when used (to maintain them would be another topic/suggestion). That's my shot at your idea :)

    my game ideas

As far as i know this is a problem with the engine and will probably fixed the moment DayZ goes stand-alone. Don't know what you are talking about. I would love a flamethrower, probably limited by the engine as well. Guess he can't add weapons that aren't available in Arma 2 It's an apocalypse scenario so cars should be scarce. Nontheless vehicle behaviour/respawn should be reworked but that's another topic. Really interesting idea that goes hand-in-hand with custom player bases.
  18. As much as i've read on these forums, there are ideas for tents and their behaviour that i would rate as possible solutions. I think the problem right now is that Rocket has more important matters to think about than the storing system. I think he and obviously everyone else knows they are broken but there isn't the possibility to fix them instantly. I would rather disable them and see them come back in a stable state. Just search the forum for possible solutions and let me say there are some really good ones in my opinion (like one tent per player or automatic despawn times you can't circumvent, so the need of constant moving of your camp).
  19. Seriously, it's a fucking forum post. Who has that much time to bitch about it? @OP: I just signed up here to reply to your post. Your ideas a very interesting (not saying they are either good or bad) but like some people already said, you could have saved some of your 3k words and made it shorter. All trolls would stay away (probably) and wouldn't infect this post with cancer (first reply). On to your ideas: 1) Tent/permanent death issue A topic i would love to discuss on. Currently it's exactly like you say: you die, you run to your camp (be it tents or vehicles), gear up, join your group and it's all ok again. That takes like 10-30min depending on where your camp is located. When i am "raiding" NWAF/Stary for example, i just run in to check for zombies and go "rambo". If i die, well, let's gear up again. If i kill someone, haha that's some nice laughs me and my buddies will share. How to prevent that status the game is in right now? Tents/Vehicles NEED to be fixed or disabled until they are. On almost every server that is running longer than a week you got multiple tent sites with every item possible. You find them, loot them, even destroy them. After the next restart they are back with all the items. It's bugged like hell. My team and me have saved dozens of coordinates on dozens of servers with camps so we can gear up fast again. Sometimes we don't even use them because it destroys the game. I strongly believe, if tent duping wasn't possible, either by fixing the bugs or disabling the tents altogether, people would be more caring for their characters. Of course you can hoard weapons and items like a madman, but that will take time or skill in killing people for their gear. If that is the case i don't mind if people have an easy time after dieing. tl;dr: Most people gear up at duped tents or tents that were filled up by other people. Fix/disable tents and the duping which is caused by them and that should solve a few "problems". 2) Skills/Abilities The way you propose it, or let me say, you have in mind: No, please no! My idea would be that every man and woman could do blood transfusions, give morphine, repair vehicles etc. It stays the same. Why? Learning all this new stuff would (in my opinion) alienate quite a few people who are new to the game or new to the genre. I mean, first and foremost, DayZ is a shooter. Maybe a very realistic one (more so than other shooters i've experienced) and a very difficult one at first. But it still is a shooter. I wouldn't want to mix in RP mechanics (just yet). Where i could see a compromise: The more often you give someone a blood transfusion, the better you get at it. Let's say if you start a new character, you will restore 6000 blood per transfusion. You can maximize your output by doing it very often and reach the highest level of 12.000 blood per transfusion we have right now. Same with other components that are currently in the game. A very good mechanic, who's repaired many vehicles, will need less time and resources to repair a vehicle. The list goes on but the idea is the same. tl;dr: Give everyone the same abilities but let them improve. The more often you do something, the better you get at it and the less resources you'll require in the future. 3) More storage mechanisms I love your idea but i think you need to wait for the stand-alone on this one. Discussing/sharing ideas about it is interesting but could be become obsolete the moment the game is released and Rocket already implemented them (we can dream). Well, these are my thoughts on the subject(s) and grammar police please be nice. English isn't my native language! inb4 tl;dr
