As private servers with the same patch don't have these problems (tested on a few private servers), yes, it's a hive problem. Probably the same reason leaderboards and statistics aren't implemented yet.

My only advice: Tents and vehicles are badly broken right now, for everyone, on any server, at any given time. Sometimes they work, sometimes they simply disappear, sometimes they morph. Wait for Rocket to fix this mess and don't waste any more time on them until then.

When you get in range of the barracks, you get in range of many other buildings (mostly industrial loot buildings). When that happens not every building spawns zombies and loot. If you are unlucky, only the industrial buildings will spawn loot and the barracks will be empty. Just stay away more than 30m and closer than 200m. Wait some minutes and loot will spawn. It's not bugged, it's the way it works. Of course looting the other barracks in the meantime is a good idea. Loot HAS to respawn somehow, otherwise a server running for 4-5 hours wouldn't have any items in its buildings. You would have to restart every 1-2 hours depending on survivor count. Could it be implemented differently? Yes. Would players exploit the new mechanic? Yes. Deal with it.

As far as i know there is no in-game function to take a screenshot. 3rd party software like Fraps for example does have a screenshot function.

Let's say there are NO players in 200m range of a building. Player A gets in 200m range of the building, the house gets assigned to player A because he was the first player in 200m range. If player A gets closer than 30m, no loot will spawn in this building. If player A gets more than 200m away from the building, it isn't assigned to him anymore. It will get assigned to a random player in 200m distance or won't spawn any loot at all if nobody is in range. What you do: Player A gets in 200m range AND stays atleast 30m away. Let's say 150m. Player B sits in the building and waits for loot. The loot won't stop spawning unless player A gets closer than 30m or gets more than 200m away. Timer? Pretty random if i had to guess. //edit Tested and used this method many times.

Guys, you are derailing the thread. Let's talk about non-lethal bullets and not about our mothers.

Herds of infected and the sleep mechanic!
insitv replied to th3rdparty's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
As you said, zombie herds and making zombies a threat again is on Rockets to-do-list. Rocket wants to increase maximum player count per server to 100, even 200 if i remember correctly. What does that mean? The resources for more in-game entities (be it players or zombies) IS there. We just have to wait for the stand-alone which will bring a better or let's say a optimized engine to the table. I think the current engine is the main reason we aren't seeing zombie herds or just simply more zombies in towns. -

The OP put the magical word in bold: He THINKS he found a way. If it doesn't work, atleast one could try. Way better thread than all the hacking/whine threads on these forums. Read it completely next time and get your cancer out of here! But thanks for your confirmation that atleast one hack (thisgamesux) of maybe many hacks isn't using this button combination. -
Non-lethal bullets? GREAT idea in my opinion! Would add so much to PvP gameplay. Instead of just killing you could knock them unconcious, look what gear they have and leave them alive without their gear. Like robbing people and stuff. I just love this idea, have my beans B)

No wonder I ca NEVER find a vehicle :-/
insitv replied to Zing Freelancer's topic in New Player Discussion
Can't say how long it takes for tents/vehicles to despawn if they are placed out of bounds but i have seen vehicles AND tents outside the border. Guess we have to put up with things like that until stand-alone hits. (Not that vehicles and tents are broken and not working now anyway) -

Well, i don't know but why couldn't the hackers change their RightShift+P combination to let's say CTRL+T? I will definitely test this when i'm going to player later on. Very interesting. -
Before i answer your questions: If you had searched for it, you would have known that tents are badly broken at the moment. There are no known solutions to get them to work every time or atleast some times. Just ignore them if you find one until they are fixed. When tents were still working: No, wasn't true. Anyone could save it. See answer to question 1. No. Tents currently DO NOT despawn, i tested it with a tent i didn't use for like two weeks. I died multiple times in that time but the tent still lives. See answers to questions 1 and 2. No.

There are MANY ways to dupe items currently. I think the main problem is how the client/server communicates with the HIVE. Rocket said in his last interview that he will work on client/HIVE communication and the stand-alone will fix a few engine behaviours. Besides the hackers, i think item duping will be made (near) impossible when DayZ goes stand-alone.

Who do you think would be more punished by this, a) Player with high end gear who's got 3 weapons (1 side arm, 2 primary weapons) or B) A new player who finally managed to get a winchester or makarov? a) A player who's got the experience to navigate without a map/compass or B) A new player who loses his map/compass and can't navigate anymore? I completely agree with you that the game COULD be more challenging but i think you are focusing on the wrong part of the game. Being shot/hit by zombies is challenging players more than enough regardless of their progression. Losing a few items? You really think that will provide a challenge to experienced and fully decked out teams of players? No, it won't. It will only damage the newcomers. I generally like the idea of decaying weapons and food/drinks but it should be predictable. Making it random like that destroys the purpose of planning your survival. The chaos factor is provided by other players who kill you.

Download Dayz Commander (just google it) and click "Versions" in the top right corner. There you can update Arma 2, DayZ and Dayz Commander if there are updates you haven't downloaded yet.

If you crawled up and down the different floors i would bet that you weren't in the hospital like other people in here already said. The Hospital in Elektro is south of the office building you are in right now. It got lootable morphine in front of the hospital (the side where the street goes) or on the backside (only 1 crate tough).

Sometimes i got it working by right-clicking on the backpack. Same with player corpses i couldn't loot at all before. After right-clicking them i am almost always able to loot them.

DayZ: The state of death, and the Great Storage debate
insitv replied to The Sad Panda's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As vehicles are a luxury item already i could accept that B) -
You need to repair EVERY part of the helicopter. All windscreen glasses, everything. It will stop leaking fuel after that. You need: 1 Engine Part 1 Main Rotor Assembly 4 Scrap Metal 9 Windscreen Glass

DayZ: The state of death, and the Great Storage debate
insitv replied to The Sad Panda's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
BazBake you get my beans for that post but social stratification is already plagueing the game. People with vehicles getting all the crash sites after server restarts, people with high end gear able to defend important loot locations better than less equipped groups and the list goes on. Skill progression like i suggested earlier in this thread would help newcomers to close this gap. Of course it could divide the different "social classes" in this game even more but to prevent that you set a maximum level of mastery if you will call it that. With time you catch up. It's the same with items, with time you get more loot and catch up to the already geared up people. You just have to be careful. -
Infection Mechanics: Make them more in depth
insitv replied to amaROenuZ's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree that infection right now is a wasted mechanic. I would love to see the chance of being infected increased but at the same time, anti-biotics must drop more often. I am playing this game for months now and i've found them two times! Thank god i've never been infected. I think the temperature mechanic needs to be tweaked. I like the way it works but you should lose temperature way faster. There's no need to carry heatpacks at the moment. -
I can only repeat what JMocks said, DayZ Commander will save you a lot of trouble and provide you with way better filtering options when you look for servers.

DayZ: The state of death, and the Great Storage debate
insitv replied to The Sad Panda's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Of course the majority of the high end loot comes from hackers and/or dupers but consider that now we have over 3.000? servers running! That means MUCH more barracks/crash sites to be looted. Item inflation is only natural because when you die someone else takes your gear, it doesn't get lost. Only in rare cases people with comparable high end gear kill each other and as a result some loot is lost. But that's the exception. -
That would only fix them if the problems with them stem from bad communication between server and HIVE. As gear is saved properly (most of the time) it's a problem specific to tents and their coding. I don't think that saving their location and storage status on the server itself would fix the problems. Of course that's only speculation at this point.
