Bloodbags require another person besides yourself to administer it to you. They will get the option to if the bloodbag is in their inventory through the scroll wheel options. Flashlights must be removed from your toolbelt by right clicking on them. They take the place of a pistol slot, and you will lose your handgun if you swap in the flashlight. You then press L to toggle the on/off of the flashlight.

Change weapons and make sure you're actually selecting your gun with the F key.

They're good fun. It's right after you get something useful or start changing your playstyle to one focusing on living for awhile that they'll come out of nowhere, knock you out at 11k blood, and then disappear right before you bleed out, so you get to make the critical decision of hope for a transfusion at 400 hp, or just die. I usually just die, because fuck that.

I think first we'll need to get to the point where the average person is alive for longer than an hour before we need to worry about a very common item having durability.

[VID] Xbow Nutshot Deathdodge Ghosting Vengeance!
WilkyWilks posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm starting a public campaign against players that intentionally abuse systems. So, any time I can land video evidence of players death dodging, ghosting, etc. etc. I'll be making a video to sully their name a bit. Our first one thankfully, is a nutshot with the crossbow! It's not as intense as it sounds, but still, the sweet vengeance of killing him makes it worth the video upload. -
[VID] Xbow Nutshot Deathdodge Ghosting Vengeance!

Well you can take my word for it or not, but I went up onto the first floor of blue tower (adjacent to granary)and was looking around and hadn't seen anyone on the smaller part of the roof. As I came down and back around I heard a shot but no snap and started recording again after that. I'll upload that incredibly boring manhunt segment after I get some sleep if it appeases the masses. However, I'm glad people actually bother pointing this out, I hate when people take things at face value. -
It's intentionally designed for the need of two people to enforce a sense of teamwork. Your alternative is animals, it's already in the game. Finding cattle isn't hard up north, which when all 8 steaks are cooked, provides you with 6400 blood, which is usually enough except for the most dire of situations. If that's the case, TWO COWS.

What zombies? There's zombies in this?

It's inevitable. Eventually, everyone hits the breaking point and realizes they must do ANYTHING to survive.

I found a hacker and his supplies
WilkyWilks replied to Amazing's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Unless you had a video of him spawning the box, then ID'ing him in some way, there's not much to enforce, as you'd also have to get his GUID from the server's administrator. -
Looking for a challenge
WilkyWilks replied to kev.long@live.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I challenge you to help new players get to the northwest airfield. -
A 7% increase in living. Golly, that MUST be backed up by a ton of data! I'll just give away your advice for free: -Don't stay where you don't need to be. -Shoot others on sight. -Avoid commonly traveled areas such as the Northwest Airfield, the coast, or any towns between Cherno and Elektros direct routes to the NW airfield!

Saving is used to update the hive server about that vehicles location on a server, as it's too costly data wise to have it constantly update. So, once you disembark from your bike, always Save it. Also, water pumps are only used by right clicking on a Water Canteen on your inventory screen to fill it.

[CHART] 1 Bullet = Enough to Damage a Person If they don't die, use more Bullets. [/CHART]

Everyone is a bandit. If you aren't, you will be soon. Also, 5 days without murdering another player takes... a normal working person spawning a character on Monday night, and then logging out and playing on a Friday like they normally would. (Just kidding, they'd be at the bar.)
-
I'd find it more interesting if it actually increased your effective blood level, so a character starting out would begin at 12k blood, and then consume alcohol and have a blood level of say... 16k instead. This amount immediately begins dropping down over time, but has the additional detrimental effects you noted such as blurry vision, faster bleed out. I'd also suggest increase the rate of needing to eat and drink.

Having ended up in this situation tonight, I'll explain one perspective. I was trolling around Cherno on some random server with a Lee Enfield, basically just trying to make interesting and challenging shots from weird angles to better learn the layout of the cities field of fire potential. Someone logged into the server with an M107 up in the grain tower. I got up there and put a few rounds in the sniper, and searched their gear. Standard stuff: M107, NV, Rangefinder, every survival tool, M16 Acog in bag, etc. So, of course I picked this equipment up, and IMMEDIATELY headed out of cherno to start counter sniping and taking out people who were likely to start making their way to the grain tower (the previous sniper was a terrible shot, and was spamming the darn thing.) After about 20 minutes of dead time save for a random person on the roof of the firehouse, I logged out after getting a bit further out of the cities vicinity, and switched to a different server. After logging in, I re-positioned and took out two targets who were also using 50 cals from on top of the granary. Not 20 seconds later, someone ran up to me (I was about 800 m out from the granary tower) and hosed me down with an AKM. You know what I assume he did? The exact same thing anyone does when they get a ton of that gear out of nowhere - they start sniping just like the guy they just killed. This, coupled with many more people playing this game and having the time to "farm" the items, makes that the market is slowly become more and more saturated with high powered weapons. Their rarity in decline, along with there not being much going on up north, causes people to come back down to the coast. Hence, tons of awesome gear just lying around if you can get the drop on them.

Bacon. That's right. Your arguement is now invalid.
WilkyWilks replied to thetamsen's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Please record a video of you hiking 20 miles a day with 30 pounds of gear after only eating bacon as evidence that this is possible and we'll escalate the suggestion to the appropriate developers. -
camouflage clothing, where you found it?

In any store or apartment. -
Ah, I see you've come across the only evidence we have of the "Fabrication Gnomes", the actual cause of the zombie plague currently affecting Chernarus. These little guys were grown in a lab to be utilized in creation industries to fabricate exact replicas of anything put in front of them. Unfortunately, a by-product of the creation of them was, well, everyone went bonkers. The lab started storing and transporting these little guys in tent bags as they preferred the enclosed, warm space, and it was inconspicuous enough for the lab employees to transport with relative ease. Of course, these employees would eventually succumb to the zombie plague themselves. On the bright side, any time you set up a tent, you have a chance of the gnomes also being inside! You'll never see them because they're only visible when you blink, but they sure are hard workers, if a little inconsistent in their undertakings.

But really, why SHOULDN'T I shoot you?
WilkyWilks replied to Crios's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You could always apply to a clan. I actually got brought into one after lone-wolfing it for a week or two, and then ended up killing a few of them. It was recommended that I apply. Granted this was when side chat was still available without some server customization. -
The function of the "Saving" with vehicles and tents is to provide the hive server with the data about where exactly that object is, along with its inventory. Due to the cost of having this information constantly being uploaded on the servers, it's set up for players to manually perform it when they have their object placed where they want. (i.e. hiding a vehicle, exit and save.) You currently cannot transfer tents or vehicles cross server.

I suggest being stealthier so you don't have to try and hide! Or, simply moving into a building and exiting from another point. Same thing, with much lower risk.

Can you loot ghille suits off of dead players?
WilkyWilks replied to ayerpksalot@aol.com's topic in New Player Discussion
No, the only means of acquiring any clothing for your character is through a 1 single slot, package appearing item with the name of the camo type on it. Right clicking this will switch out your clothing. -
