Seriously? The removal of global chat wasn't even a month ago and you still need a beta patch for it to be removed.

It has nothing to do with the chat. The channels still exist, they aren't removable. If you place down a marker while being in global channel, everyone can see it.

goodbye side chat...i shall miss thee...
TonyStarks replied to lowerplains's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It is server side. I played on a server yesterday that had side-chat enabled and it was as annoying and distracting as I remembered. "lol just dodged a bunch zombies" "nice :DD" "found some beans too" "can you guys tell me what time is it on the server" "hey guys i just started playing can you explain the controls to me" "who's shooting in cherno" -
I group up with strangers all the time. If i get shot, it happens on sight. I've never been back stabbed by someone after teaming up.

1. It's server side 2. Global chat ruins immersion 3. Meta-gaming should not be supported within the game 4. It's annoying and distracting 5. I don't want to read a global-chat conversation where little bobby tells little jimmy about how he just avoided some zombies.

Cocaine, Crack, Heroin, Hydrocodone, Inhalants, LSD, Marijuana, MDMA (Ecstasy), Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth), OxyContin, Pills, Cough linctus, Glue sniffing, Alcohol, Tobacco etc. Drugs would add another layer of much needed authenticity to the game. There has always been a huge underground economy on mind-altering chemicals and in a post-civilization environment, drugs would be quite common, useful and sought after. Drugs could add temporary benefits like added pain resistance, numbness, health boosts, sight and hear improvements, lack of appetite, concentration etc. besides huge risks both temporary and long-term. The chance of a bad trip would be determined by your current condition, zombies killed, amount of blood, murders etc or be totally random. Hallucinations, passing out, dying because of hunger or thirst, overdosing and of course risk of withdrawal symptoms due to addiction. Fallout 3 did it pretty well if I remember correctly. Hallucinations were horrifying and temporary benefits were useful. There never has been a more perfect environment for drugs than in this game. I remember rocket saying something about the inclusion of drugs and mentioning that it would send out a bad signal to kids or something. I'm not really sure if he was joking or not but if he wants to make this game as authentic as possible, drugs must be added. This is not a commercial game, there are no fear of ratings, censoring, parental outrage or the like, it all lies in the hands of rocket and his team. Ignoring one of the biggest matters of society would be quite strange to me seeing that we are confronted with drugs daily. Maybe start little with things like tobacco or alcohol.

Bury survivor to regain humanity
TonyStarks replied to A Man Named GOB's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Very nice idea. I like it. Humanity farming could be a problem though. -
Now that you've mentioned it, I kinda find it weird too. We all know how many Cod kiddies there are out there, now they don't only kill for loot but for prestige too. Pared with the "no starting gun" it is actually the most valid point I've heard so far. I can see bandits now just camping the shore killing survivors because they want to get on the leader boards. Kinda depressing actually, keeping numbers is fine but actually having leader boards with peoples names on it is strange. Influencing the behavior of players in such a negative way outside of the game is something I don't support.
