Looking for an admin abused server? Inject morphine before entering
Lefty Guns posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
...By Admin abuse, I mean getting owned legitimately by a bandit with a lee enfield. :) No seriously, Dallas 22 welcomes all other legitimate players to join up and call this their little happy but, dysfunctional survival grounds. I haven't made a server post yet, and while the server hardware is being upgraded I felt this is a good time to do just that. Dallas 22 runs a single instance of DayZ on dedicated high-end server grade hardware. Come check us out and if you have any issues feel free to jump on our teamspeak (ts6.gameservers.com:9139) and give me a shout. I make every attempt to keep the server updated with the latest version, have an admin present as much as possible and be available on TS3. We aren't perfect but we make every attempt to provide the best gaming experience within the limitations that have been given. Server: Dallas 22 Difficulty: Veteran 3rd Person View: On Crosshair: Off Players on Map: Off Tags: Off Server Slots: 50+ (will be increasing) http://7thoperations.enjin.com/ Server should be up and running within an hour or two with an upgraded CPU. Hope to be looting your corpse, Lefty -
This is the best and worst game I have ever played.
Lefty Guns replied to SineDeviance's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
One thing you must learn in DayZ and in your own life is not to get attached to material items. Death is inevitable in DayZ just as much as it is a part of our life now, fortunately, you can respawn in DayZ. Psychologically, tweak your mind to experience this: The fun part of DayZ is finding the loot, not keeping it. Death will happen. Only a matter of time no matter how safe you are. Otherwise, you will fail miserably and become bitter towards the game. I struggled with this concept for the first week and after I altered my thoughts I am a much better DayZ player for it. I can care less about loot and all I need are the basics for survival. I can kill players with any weapon and do not need a high powered weapon. As an example, last night I killed a player sniping at me with an m24 from long range, all I had was an ak-74. Simply by being patient and outwitting the murderer. He may have been stupid but it does happen in DayZ, quite frequently. I seem to experience my finest moments when I have less loot to worry about keeping than when i have a whole arsenal of gear. There is a huge flux of accomplishment and self worth when I do something unheard of with the very little resources I've been given at the time of my encounter. Experience it, play with it and in the end, you will thank yourself for it. Lefty -

Guys, I hear a lot of back and forth on Arma/DayZ and I need some answers. Here's what I am looking to do: - Dedicated Server - Single Instance of DayZ - Maximum # of slots possible I can't seem to find any data on how servers out there are performing. Right now, I am running a dedicated e3-1250 and I'm able to handle 60 players fine with a reboot every 3-6 of hours. My provider can get me the following hardware to achieve my goals: - e3-1270v2 - e3-1290v2 I am open to suggestions but I can't seem to find any provider willing to offer anything other than server grade platforms. Also, I am thinking long-term here and I do realize current Arma limitations but the beta code does run much better than before and it seems to continue to improve. I think there are some things on the DayZ code that could be fixed to improve client performance/fps issues. Thanks for your help, Lefty

Is this a hack? He says he's on a bike and that's why this is generated: 16.06.2012 13:56:29: Hova (174.118.32.241:2304) 1e7d822fe2e1db33970d6a57581c3b3e - #34 dayzpOs select 1)+2.5*cos(_dayzdir)]; vehicle player setpos _dayzpOs; -
VEHICLE UPDATE (database side): 2012-06-16

I updated my BEC to 1.42 (Latest posted) and it is still kicking me for running 93825 Script #17. What else is required? -
Hi everyone, I am looking to host my own server and I was reading through the system specifications. First, it does not mention which version of Windows the server should run. Could someone clarify on which version of 2008 should be chosen? There are about 6 different variations. Second, I have seen in the server list, a 65 man server. I would like to offer whatever the max server size is. With that said, I am looking for hardware recommendations for the best possible experience. Here are the server CPU choices: Dual Core --------- AMD x2 4450e Quad Core --------- Intel Core2Quad OR Intel E3-1240 Dual Quad Core -------------- 2 x Intel Xeon E5520 Which choice would be best to offer max server size? Also, if none of these options are best suited, I am open to suggestions as I could build a custom server. Thanks for your help. Lefty

1. 8 GB RAM 2. Physical Server 3. 100 mbps Thank you for the guide. I am seriously considering wiping out the 64-bit OS and installing a x32. I know at that point half of my RAM will become useless but if it becomes more stable and runs better it would be worth it. Another question I have is, there is a admin tool ingame I can run called #monitor X. When I set it to 1 and monitored my server FPS, it dropped all the way to 1 and I did not even have a full server. Is this an accurate tool to be using on my server? I have the RCON GUI up and running as of now. Again, thanks for your help. Thanks, Lefty

Hi Mojo, Thanks for your insightful reply. I ended up going with a dedicated server running: Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1270 (8M Cache, 3.40 GHz). Where can I get a guide/document/tips on monitoring and tweaking my server? Thanks, Lefty

I hate the current inventory system, especially with backpacks and how tedious and confusing it is to move things back and for. I would like to suggest showing the backpack inventory space as an extension to the current inventory slots and the ability to move things easier between the two.

An End to Server Hopping? More Server Persistence?
Lefty Guns replied to warioman91's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Rocket official servers receive the character request and should know which server the request is coming from. If it receives the request X amount of times from X amount of servers insert X Timeout. This would force players to play on 1 or 2 servers during their gameplay and prevent server hopping. With servers still crashing on a daily basis it may be hard/unfair to enforce something like that. -
Should We All Use Timezones in Server Names?
Lefty Guns replied to Fussgangerzone's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Great suggestion. I love servers that list their timezone in the server name and I hope to see this for every server in the future! I highly recommend those with servers to add this to their server name.
