The problem with consoles is they rely on peer to peer connections for online gaming. Not to many platforms use dedicated servers on the console gaming market. How many times you "WTF" when the host quits your Black Ops game? or any other game to speak of? Those games that did not rely on the peer to peer networks ( M.A.G. for example) were in the few. So games such as Dayz and all E.A. Games are too structured (some would say controlling) to leave the control into the power of the players and lets not mention the "limitations" you would encounter. Not saying the next generation consoles are going to be weak by any means, but other things will factor into the multiplayer aspect, the main one which is always, when it comes to online, the hosts ISP. Doesn't matter how fast the rig or console is, if the internet connection is crap on a peer to peer, which is what you get on consoles.

Google Arma 2 and Ramdisk... Problem solved.

When this MOD first came out the game play was immersive and intense to say the least. It was stressful and exciting. Weeks went by and Arma 2 sales increased two-fold. The mod went player base quadrupled in weeks and the excitement went away as the floods of players who joined in and the waves of beach killings began. It went from 'wow' this is cool. To wow let me shoot this dude who is sitting here infront of me, in just a matter of weeks. There is absolutely no turning away from this. Millions of players are now turned onto this type of genre of game and awaiting the standalone. From the moment you load into the new game, it will be a shoot out on the beach. The immersion felt by those of us who were some of the few who were the first to play the mod before the growing popularity is gone. I am glad the MOD became popular by all means, I am just sad it became such a fragfest. I want to believe things will be different when the standalone releases, but as I jump from each new MOD of the Dayz MOD (Dayz Origins etc...)I see nothing really changes. You spawn. You get shot. None-the-less I can't wait for the standalone.

Have you been in a real survival situation ever? In the military every? Boyscouts? Camping? Watch Survivorman? Bear Grylls? Damn kids these days. Listen up and listen good. You want and need other people around you. Seal Team 6. Rangers. Special Forces. Teamwork is key. You want to survive as loner? You think killing others is how you going to make it through any survival situation? Too much television. Too many video games. The world isn't call of Duty Black Ops. Reality. Take a bite. One also needs to take into account that just because you say you would kill someone to survive does not mean you actually will do it once the situation arrives.

ROFL. Some peoples kids. Keyboard warriors. Anyhows. What I was getting at is how new the game felt when I first played it. It was a different type of game play. I different type of game. Not the run and gun. Then couple of weeks later it became run and gun. Not intentionally I am sure. Lets face it, how many people actually killed anyone because they actually needed the beans or can of coke. Please. Just do it because you can. Kiddies do it because they want to claim they are bandits, ew, the self proclamation of being a B.A.M.F. (bad ass mother fucker). Please. Internet is full of B.A.M.F. 's So I am playing Dayz Origins now, doesn't seem to be as bad. Hit Random spawn and survive a little longer. Seems to be a little more fun and new because I have never played Taviana before and I am completely lost. So I am getting back into Dayz a little. Just a little put off by the last guy who shot me in the store and his comment of "Fuck you mother fucker, thanks for the cans"...as I didnt even have cans and he sounded about 10 years old. Again I can't wait for the standalone so we all will be on the same noob level.

I have the game updated to 1.7.6.1 yet steam keeps trying to update to something, and it pauses, when I click resume it just goes straight to suspended. I can't launch the damn game because of that. I am however able to launch the game via the beta patch exe, but the point is, I would like to be on through steam to keep contact with friends not to mention I am annoyed to all end with the pinging sound it makes as it tries to resume and then suspends.

I am running my own server and do not know how to update the battle eye filters... I found that I need an updated script.txt file and replace it, but that is all mumbo jumbo to me. I see where to the file, but no clue where to put it.

What are those?

I just downloaded the files for a private hive server to run on my personal computer. Basically just playing with friends, but I would like to know where/how I can edit the setting for the time. Most of us play at night when we get off work (PST) (California) to be exact, and when I start my server it is always night time, and dark. Which files do I change?

Thank you very much! I just tried the Static Option and set the Hour to 7, but for some reason it is still night time. Do I need to log in as an admin and restart the server or just close it all out and re open the start up?

Back when this mod was taking off, they had a sticky in their original website about a game they made which was co-op survival. There were some videos and such. Anyone know what it was called or have the links still? Thanks.

So I am watching videos of Dayz on Youtube. I have come across about 4-5 videos of Dayz on Lingor Island, which is a place I have never seen and their characters are using different models...are these old videos or is Lingor Island a new map for Dayz?

Military simulator, but the sound is all whack. Someone shoots, you hear it, but no clue where it is coming from. A zombie spawns, you hear it, but where? Maybe I am missing something but I have the sound quality set to high or whatever. I hear people shooting at me, all the damn time, I run, strafe, pan camera, but no clue which direction the shots are coming from, and most of the time I end up running right into the person shooting at me, instead of running the opposite direction. Why would this game/mod not have that?

I found it, it was disabled on my sound card.

Do I need to adjust it in settings somewhere? I am using a Sony headset with Dolby Surround Sound. Maybe I am missing something.

Well if your engine is red, you can still drive it...it is better to be yellow or green. Here is the reason why. Crash your car with a red engine, it blows up, you die.

I had a tents on top of a hill. Then I barb wired the whole hill basically in a bullseye formation. Tents being in the middle. Left openings in the barbed wire to where you had to find the right tree to crawl under to get to the next right. Took me weeks to gather all the wire (Polana Factory). It was an amazing place. I cried when I looked at it. When you came across the first set of wire at the bottom of the hill it was discouraging, even to me, to wonder where to start to find a way in. One could not even see the top of the hill to see what the wire was actually protecting. The tents were safe for about 2 weeks. The way someone got around it....(as I was there to witness it).... He logged off, went on another server, relogged on to the server where my "base" was, and popped right ontop of my tents, then took 2 rounds to the dome. Was not complete waste of time because it gave me something to do, but of course the tents were looted dry because I didnt want to babysit it. Moral of the story, bases are pointless. There will ALWAYS be a way for someone to get in even if you block off every possible entrance. Server hop is the skeleton key.

Man only if one could Alt-F4 life. Car crash incoming, alt+f4. Bullets coming your way, alt+f4. About to take a fist to the face, alt+f4. Sure this is a video game, but it is trying to capture realism and realistic situations, alt+f4 shouldn't even be a damn option anyone has, period.

Game is fine. Its buggy needs fixing and tweaking. Still enough to be enjoyable. The main problem I have is the damn servers. Tons of servers out there running different Dayz versions and/or wrong Arma 2 patches. One can filter Dayz and get 500+ servers with 1/2 of those servers running different Dayz versions and Arma 2 patch/beta versions.

Yeah I use the Arma 2 launcher prior to the Arma 2 patch being officially released. Then today they updated and released another beta patch. Went back to the Arma 2 launcher. Going to try and filter using the patch number to see how well that works. Thanks.

Gotcha. So you were playing with on regular server with name tags on. So his name scrolled in chat "Budder was killed" and no body or flies? The body loot timer is very unstable right now. I have lost my own corpse on death before. That is my friend saw me die and my corpse instantly disappeared. Then there are times I have ran back taking hours to do so, and it is there. Same with players I have killed. Very touchy system.

I get great gear. Cook sum meat, grab some cans of soda. And log off for days at a time. I think the longest toon I had alive was 24 days. He only died with the last patch lol when everyone was respawning with no gear and back on the beach. There not much of an end game yet. Get gear is pretty much it. I get it, log off and wait for the next patch and content.

LOL. Who puts tents in the open near Pobeda Dam anyways?
