Is there enoush shit north that you can avoid elektro etc?
Rakkasan replied to callahan9119's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I personally get my military grade weapons from the "douchebaggery" that hang out in Cherno or Electro. 1 Lee Enfield will take down anyone you put your iron sights on, providing they do not quick log. Most of the time I head north instantly, but if I happen to spawn near Electkro or Cherno stop in grab a backpack and some supplies. Sure I have been killed many times there, but really do not lose much, but time. You will find the same "douchebaggery" that hangs in Cherno or Electkro are the same "douchebaggery" that hang in NW Airfield and Stary. No difference except the running time. -
I get very bad wife aggro which is 10 times worse than zombie aggro and 50 times worse than any bandit, especially when I say I want to go somewhere with her and she is finally ready, which 8 out of 10 times I am playing. I like to train zombies behind me sometimes because it is easier to run them from one town to another than crawl through (faster). Once I get where I am going I turn around and unload. Have to kill alot of zombies in order to loot the town that I am in, but it is worth it, since time is of essence. Crawling through one town is much slower than running through 2-3 with trail of zombies. I know if I quick log, they will all disappear , along with all the loot in that area, so that is never an option, but that being said, I see it done so many times for those who are just simply trying to avoid death, nothing worse than bending over to loot something while an idiot outside is running all the zombies around then logs off. If I can take zombie aggro, bandit aggro, and wife aggro, then you all can do the same. Just because you are out of bullets does not mean you have to log off, find a building first...that is generally where the loot/ammo is, or just die, chances are if you are out of ammo anyways, then you have not much time vested in the character you are on at the moment.

Its the weekend...not to mention Memorial Day Weekend to boot. Game popularity has increased 10 times since last week. Not enough game servers to provide service for the amount of players that are now playing. The hive server is bogged down because people que up their characters in a server...get waiting for server response...then leave...and try joining another server which just makes it worse. If you get in right away, you are lucky.

LOL. And as for the tent pitching, yeah I would hope they implement the ability to pitch a tent anywhere, right now putting them in the open, or trying to find a clearing in the woods is almost impossible, just because of the gentle slopes.

Just had one of the tensest play sessions to date!
Rakkasan replied to gogozombie's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sounds like that was fun. That is what makes this mod stand out and why it has taken Arma 2 sales to the next level. Minus the death match/stat mentality of some of the players (which is fine) coming across any stranger is definetely a tense moment. -
WTF is happening to the server community.
Rakkasan replied to Koot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The reality of this mod, is the reality of people's definition of reality, when the reality is, zombie apocalypse is not a reality. This is a video game. He is asking for mechanics...not suggestions on how the game development ideas. That is, when you turn your steering wheel left, why does the car go left. Not why you should turn the car left. -

48 hours would kill this game, over half the players would not be able to play. Bad idea and concept. Tweaking zombies will not help either. The whole issue of the post is the rampant player killing going on. Again, I believe General Chat would resolve a big chunk of this issue. More time playing instead of talking trash across the server. -

WTF is happening to the server community.
Rakkasan replied to Koot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
General chat and leaderboard mentality. Enough said. "Umad bro?" "I just killed a bandit" "Survivors are bitches"...I could go on for dayz. Too many people want to see their name on a leaderboard, or yes, in general chat. "Jklyde is a bandit" gives Jklyde notoriety and will more than likely incite global chat arguement. There is more shit talking in general chat than there is actual necessary talk about in game activity. Not to mention, if one is in Vybor, he/she would really not know or care what is going on in Cherno. I hope Rocket does not implement any leaderboard for this game. Thats is all this community needs is boosting and stat mongers. Once you take out the ability to chat with anyone at anytime in game, you take away the kiddies/baddies/goodietwoshoes who are ruining your game experience. They will have no one to boast/complain to. Besides as I have stated in posts before, I prefer not knowing if they guy I am rolling with is going to put bullet in my head or save my ass...isn't that the point, build your own trust and not have someone screaming it over Global Chat for the whole server to see. Thus possibly toning down the useless noob spawn killing. You get spawned killed, oh well respawn, no one will know who killed you, and the person who killed wont be able to tell anyone. -
You took a game that was fading in the shadows of COD and BF3 and brought it back to life and will probably be responsible for high sales of Arma 3...how does that make you feel? PS...I would by Dayz in a standalone version hands down.

Haha I have been raped by bandits, fallen off of a ladder with pistol in hand, killed by zombies relentlessly, tripped in a doorway and killed and still love this game, it can only get better.
-
Here is what I do know. Items are direct link to zombies. No zombies, no items. With that being said, those who dodge death by "quick logging" near town or store despawn items. Seems fair as if it didnt everyone could run in town pull zombies, quick log, zombies disappear and relog to loot. As for when or how items spawn, that is a mystery that we should not know. It is bad enough people camp airfields and go server to server looting them, knowing if they log off in airfield on one server they will log into airfield on another.
-
Lol true true true. Either way it is more fun playing with your friends, but getting to them can be discouraging. I would hope to be with friends or family when if something like this really happened so I don't really see the realism arguement coming into play.
-
+1 I like this idea.
-
I have gone to the coast many times to give gear to my friends, but it is much safer to have them come to me or vice versa. But to let anyone spawn in exactly where their friends are at anytime, I do not really think that is fair, just as choosing my spawn, if that were the case who wouldnt choose a military tent?
-
I wouldnt recommend a class system, but maybe a "loadout" that is let a survivor choose 1-2 items they would like to start out with, that is, give up something they start out with now for something else in its place. I would gladly give up a can of beans for an extra magazine of ammo for example.
-
You have some valid points and others will argue about the realism. Maybe a group feature when you join a server would be nice, but make if you are rolling a new character, to play with a friend on a server where he/she has been alive for couple hours already, despawn to be with you and lose their items, would not be fair to join in with a friend who has a backpack full of gear to give to you on the beach.

First of all, I am ex-military, and appreciate the research done about PTSD with the actual sources cited. Well done. Always good to back up what you say with facts and proof. "Zombie Apocalypse" is not a reality, survival is. Killing is a reality. Killing someone during a survival situation is not immoral, simply because morality is defined differently by different societies. No one knows what they would do in that situation until they are in that situation. I think the issue here in this game is people kill other people simply just because they can. No right or wrong, is considered. No moral decisions are made, just the heat of the moment. It is, in fact, just a game with realism tossed in. There are a lot of in depth discussions going on with valid points. I think it is not impossible to come up with a solution to make the game mechanics of killing another player viable or not, but it will be hard to satisfy the whole community. One can be killed for the weapon they have, or killed just because. Thats the reality. No one can tell me if the choice I made was right or wrong, because I will interpret what is right or wrong on my own. I think if the global chat is removed, the killing will still be there, but toned down. From what I noticed here from server to server, is the bragging or the complaining going on across the server. Realistically I would not know if "Jklyde just killed me in Cherno" if I was not in Cherno and standing next to Jklyde or his victim. I would not know anything that was going on anywhere less I heard it or seen it with my own eyes, or another person told me face to face. I would not know who killed me, because I would be dead. The killer would not be able to brag about it either, or proclaim "Umad bro" because I am dead, and nobody would care. This game does not need to be about who killed who, or how many people they killed. It needs to stay true to its nature, to survive. You killed me, or I killed you, that is an intimate moment we shared as we crossed paths, no should know, unless they were there. No stats, no bragging rights to be seen on my screen or leaderboard. Reality is, no one needs to know.

Easy fix. You cannot determine another persons morality or how they are going to play. There simply is no wrong or right in life, only what society tells you what is wrong or right. I like not knowing who is going to put a bullet in my head when my back is turned, I do not like knowing when. I do not like knowing what is going on in the whole world of Dayz server I am on...hopefully global chat will be removed. Ok now to the point, if you kill someone, in real life what ever is on them or in their possession you can take. In game life, a person carrying an engine block with four tires, M4 carbine, and other items is not to realistic. But that is not the point... Simply add a feature on what items one can take off a person...that is, like Everquest implemented after PK'ing went rampant, was bags are not lootable. I know that is not real, but lets face it, it is a game. And the decision to shoot someone now can rest on what the person is carrying on the body rather than what is in their bag. In this scenario both parties can win, or lose. Shoot somoene for their weapon but they have no ammo on their body, oh well. If the person is smart maybe has a spare in his backpack which he can go back and get. The killer gets a new weapon, some food, compass, who know, or maybe gets nothing because the player just spawned in 5 minutes ago. Either way it is the choice he/she is available to make on their own and their own need. I personally do not even look twice at a person near the shore with a Makarov, what is the point, can of beans and some spare ammo. Not worth my time or life. That is my two cents and wall of text.
-
Does it seem they aggro from way further out now? Or is it just me? Also do they seem to spawn more as you are killing them. I have been in a house in Pavlovo with maybe 15 zombies outside, when all said an done, 67 zombie kills and no ammo left, but those tin can loots were worth it :P Just wondering if they had their aggro range tweaked that is all.
-
Yeah I was wondering if they did something, it seems if you are not prone you are going to get aggroed as soon as you can see them on your screen.

What you say before/after you kill someone
Rakkasan replied to manowar's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh man Im sorry I thought I was clicking on your back pack. -
New bug with this fix...when you die, you respawn back to where you died with same affects... and health, but there is a corpse on the ground with all stuff on it, duped.

Whats the difference? I see maybe 5 servers running the newer version...is this a beta patch for Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and is this going to be a universal change for all the servers?
