DayZ standalone suggestion: Seasonal loot balancing. "Hunger" season, "Cease fire" season, "Zombie infestation" season etc.

I'd like to keep it "simple" with the 4 seasons . And I don't think loot should be effected by seasons . Animals yes but loot no. Different animals in each season would be neat as well as in RL . Spring : - Abundant wildlife - Mild weather Summer: - Increased temperature ( causing increased thirst and fatigue) - Meat spoils much faster ( unless stored properly) - Summer clothes mandatory. Fall: - Temp drops - More layers required for warmth - Animals are not so easy to find - Obviously the leaves should change colors and trees should begin to shed them. Winter : - Freezing temps - Coats and multiple layers required for warmth - Wildlife scarce - Occasional blizzards that reduce visibility movement and warmth. Seasons would add incredible depth to the game. Play styles would change. ------You would need to keep warm in the winter with fires and warm coats ( let's hope you have found a warm coat by now ) . You will spend a considerable amount of time hunting game that is so scarce you worry about starvation. Fruits and veggies will have frozen. ------ Summer rolls around a month later and you now have to strip off your heavy layers and search desperately for water. Summer and Winter would have the greatest effect. While Spring and Fall can be a nice change of scenery and some tweaks to the environment such as temp and wildlife frequency. my 2 cents ... -

And those decomposed bodies would be filthy and hazardous to survivors . This could be like that poo mechanic Rocket's been talking about . Players are going to die eventually , and when they die from other players or zeds or stairs their bodies will persist and decay . Over time hot spots like Cherno or NWAF will be full of corpses . These hotspots could pose a hazard to survivors . Let's say there could be a % chance in the diameter of a dead body or pile of dead bodies where diseases can be contracted . The longer the body has decayed the greater the % of contracting a number of different diseases associated with rotting bodies . These corpses could infect water sources if they are killed in or near them . Causing % chance of Diarrhea ( increased thirst ) or some other illness when taking a sip out of a lake of floating bodies . Boiling your water would be a smart move . Bodies could pose a significant threat to survivors . There would be more consequence to killing a player . Tactics may change to avoid killing players around your base or favorite loot spot . Options to dispose of bodies using fire or burying . Ability to transport bodies for various purposes . Loot on a dead player could have a % chance of transmitting a disease . So disinfecting items with let's say some " germX " will clean that item . What comes to mind when I think of disinfecting is bathing. Perhaps bathing could be an option that would reduce % chance of diseaseX and what not . Those Hazmat suits you see in every apocalypse movie could provide maximum protection from disease . I believe this is in the ballpark of what Rocket said about poo so this is just to jog his memory and maybe inspire him. I apologize for any ramble . Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions

I want to see basic rudimentary weapons . I'm talking spears , bow n arrows , slings and staffs . This is an apocalypse after all . We should be seeing tribes of dirty survivors with spears and bows . I'd also like to see traps . Snares , pits , guillotines and impaling spike traps and traps where you step on a trip wire and a bag of fucking rocks falls on you :P . These weapons and traps can all be made with wood , a knife , rope/string and some patience . -

In multiple interviews Rocket has said the initial standalone release will be out late September at best and worst case early October . So is this true ? Then he would implement the minecraft updateing style or whatever .

Well Rocket has already been discussing underground construction as one of his priorities , so with great underground construction comes great shovels . I'm sure it will be used as a melee weapon as well as used to dig out awesome tunnel systems and bases .

I'd like to see an implementation of a starvation, diet and stamina mechanic. Starvation should be a key mechanic to this game. Symptoms of starvation include : Dizziness , Irritability , muscle atrophy , fatigue , weakness , pain , lowered immune system , vitamin deficiency leading to diseases that cause diarrhea , rash and heart failure . So In order to survive and thrive you will need your water , fats , carbohydrates , protein and vitamins . Fats- Cow meat high in fat , fish low in fat . Carbohydrates- in bread and other starch foods. ( Carbs let you run farther ) Protein- Fish is high in protein as well as deer .(Protein let you build muscle to carry more) Vitamins- Fruits and vegetables provide most vitamins Once there is a stamina system in the standalone which i believe there will be , eating high protein foods like fish and deer meat should increase your stamina as apposed to eating just fruits and veggies . However fruits and veggies or even vitamin tablets should protect you from vitamin deficiencies that would otherwise cause scurvy or other illnesses. Thus having a balanced diet of fruits and meat will keep you the healthiest and give you greater endurance/stamina . STARVATION : Based on some kind of hunger mechanic , (for ex: the vehicle fuel bar) Fat bar : Your full and you keep eating , excess food causes slight decrease in movement and task performance Full bar : Your full and healthy 3/4 bar : Your stomach growls , slight movement decrease , you perform tasks slightly slower (ex: bandaging , placing tent)., Half bar : You perform tasks at 60% of full , you begin to get shakes (harder to aim) , you begin to stumble every few minutes or so when going anything faster than a walk , decreased movement speed even more . Quarter bar: You perform tasks at 30% of full , you can only walk or slow jog , shakes , stumbling even when walking , moans from huger pain , slightly blurred vision. Close to death bar : You perform tasks at 10% of full , shakes , you can only crawl slowly , blurred vision, moaning , frequent fainting , hallucinations , death after 10 or so minutes of this . DEHYDRATION: After some time with no or little water you should start to fatigue by moving slower , blurry vision , stumbling , fainting , hallucinating and eventually death . ^These starvation mechanics would keep food and water a necessity even more so than they are now . The time in which it takes for each part of the process to effect you and how it does is up to the dev team , roughly I was thinking every 45 minutes the bar will drop from full to 3/4 and so on . -Along with these mechanics , your character should look the way your fed . *Every few hours your character should be analysed to figure out the majority of the time you spent in the full bar , half bar , close to death bar etc and tweak your character model to whatever you spent the majority of time in . +For example if you are well fed and stocked with beans then your character will slowly gain weight as apposed to being malnourished in the red zone and having your character eventually looking like Gandhi . Sunken eyes should be for dehydrated players as well. While typing about the character model being adjusted to fit it's eating habits i thought about how exercise should change your character as well ... After an hour or so of running (taking incline into account) your character will gain slightly more muscle mass and look slightly more firm and athletic . So after days of running and hiking up mountains and swimming across lakes your character can eventually look like a professional athlete and be able to run faster and run longer than the newbies . Diet should have some effect on this physical fitness of your character , Ex: eat alot of chips and coke = gaining fat , losing muscle mass . You should not be able to run across a 200+ kilometer map without taking a break as a new spawn . Instead you should initially start with low athleticism ie: only able to sprint/run for a short time let's say 3 minutes . Then after running around in game for an hour or so you can now run for 5 minutes straight without a break , and so on . Eventually you should be able to run miles without stopping . #Water intake should need to increase when exercising# I'm typing this all off the top of my head so excuse any spelling errors or clustered thoughts etc etc. ***These are my suggestions for the standalone that i think would have a positively fun/realistic/immersive impact on the game I hope they can be part of the game and atleast have something like this in the release . I'm sure there will be this is my thoughts on it .***

Make NVG's even rarer than they are now and fix any duping or bugs . There ya go problem solved , only a very small amount of players will have night vision capability. Which they can use for whatever tickles their fancy. NVG's should only be found In military bases .

Considering the standalone is going to be quite difficult compared to what it is now according to the concepts Rocket's shared in interviews and what not .... I don't think this loot stashing is a problem or will be a problem in the future . -It is very difficult to survive due to several new survival features and tweaks on zombies and or their numbers . -Tent bugs where your gear resets in the tent every server restart will/should be fixed . -Stamina system i'm expecting , so you can't sprint all the way to your camp . Takes more time to get to the stash/camp obviously. -Items such as military weapons and equipment (Ex:NVG's) will become ever rarer. ^^^This is my informed speculation on the standalone ^^^ But with these things in the standalone I think we will value our characters life alot more than we do now because the loot is rare and survival is tough , so camps in the future Dayz will doubtfully be stocked with 4 pairs of NVG's , 3 Ghillee suits , a couple LMG's , AS50's , and several assault rifles with plenty of ammo, and entire tents full of medical supply's and :beans:'s . Unless of course your a coordinated bad ass team of gatherers I think future tent/camps will have very few supplies and hardly any spare guns .

Well i agree this biplane should be in the game. However you should need to read some kind of manual or book or something to be able to pilot both the biplane and the Huey . As of right now every Chernarusian is a pilot , very odd .

Rocket's said there will be no NPC's in this game , he wants to focus on player interaction and emotions that players feel from those interaction ex: being really nervous about asking for a blood transfusion from a stranger and the general sense of distrust . However as far as blood goes right now cooked meat provides that for you .

As a lonewolf i wouldn't mind this mechanic of antidepressants every now and then or i like lose stamina , dogs should have the same effect as survivors when your with them . -

Surely underground structures are a mistake.

I am all for the underground construction as long as a few things are clear ... 1. Cave ins are a reality , without proper equipment and or maintenance you can trap yourself inside of your own tunnel/base this will of course make the task of creating an underground base that much more difficult and threatening . 2. Excavating a tunnel/base needs to be laborious and require plenty of time and supplies. (Examples : Shovels , Pickaxes , support beams to prevent collapse (optional) , Oxygen tanks and masks to prevent suffocation after collapse (optional), Extra Food & Water for the diggers who should experience a stamina loss and need water and food faster , Lights (candles , flashlights, glowsticks ) to see where you are digging farther in the ground you go . 3. These bases or tunnels should not be separated from the world and players and even infected above ground, whether another player stalks you to your underground base or simply stumbles across a hatch in the wild the player should be able to interact with your hatch , I'm all for camouflaging your hatch with leaves and sticks and shit but another random player should be able to enter your hatch after maybe breaking a lock or just going in if its unlocked . --- With these 3 thoughts i think that underground construction would be great ! Your base wouldn't be completely cut off from the world , it would be a challenge in the first place to construct it with the dangers of collapse and required supplies and effort . --- An interesting scenario ::: While scavenging for food and water with your buddy you find a couple shovels in a barn , both of you quickly grab the shovel and head to a secluded forest nearby , you start digging , 20 minutes pass and you've made a small cave , you use this cave over the next few days to stash your precious food , water and other supplies . After you gather plenty of supplies to live off of for a while you two begin digging again , deeper and deeper darker and darker , you and your buddy have made some real progress into this tunnel , you pull out your flashlight to provide light for your friend who is digging away at the wall of dirt , an hour passes and you are starting to carve out a room , the beggining of your awsome base , suddenly you hear dirt and rock falling , your tunnel is collapsing , the outside light is completely gone and your flashlight is flickering , batteries are low , both of you start to panic , all this work , all this time , your friend frantically begins digging out the collapsed entrance to no avail , 10 minutes pass as you try to come up with an idea to escape , the light dims , then is gone , in the pitch black all you can hear is the escalating breaths you and your buddy are making , 5 minutes pass , you are breathing sporadically , wheezing and coughing , you hear a couple thumps as both your characters fall to the ground , wheezing and coughing , YOU ARE DEAD pops up on your screen , you have effectively suffocated yourself ............. a week later another team of excavators dig through your once awsome tunnel astonishingly finding 2 corpses and a dead flashlight , they can only guess at the horrible scenario you and your buddy where in , this new team will not make the same mistakes however , their tunnel is lined with support beams and lanterns , as well as multiple entrances and routes , the new team has Oxygen tanks with masks and plenty of batteries and matches for their light source . -

Sorry if i copy any previous ideas I've only read a few topics and such . I think we are a collective thought process anyways so plagiarism shouldn't be condemned.... Anyways .... +ENDURANCE SYSTEM : No more Sprinting across a 200 km map , New spawns can only run for a certain distance before fatigued, After consistent running or swimming you gain more endurance , you condition your character every step you take , Let's say when you first spawned you could sprint for a minute before fatiguing now after a day of jogging you can sprint for 2 minutes . A mechanic like this in the game will have a really interesting effect . Your surroundings will mean more , that mountain will be an effort to hike over , NWAF doesn't seem so reachable anymore , you will have to plan more because you have limited movement capability , everything will be more rewarding because it took you twice the time and effort and planning to obtain or get to it . Inclines have a greater effect on your stamina. I'd like this mechanic to be realistic of course ( being able to run for quite awhile after days of exercise ) Also being chased by an infected or shot at by a player should raise your stamina for a short time when your body would give you that adrenaline rush to fight or flight . +HUNTING AND GATHERING: Those fields you find around Stary Sobor and other places should be usable . Find some carrot seeds in the farm house . Till the field - Plant the seeds - water them - Carrots . After a while of course . Days , weeks or even months if we are being hardcore about this . -Apple trees , berry bushes (some are poisonous) , mushrooms ( again some are poisonous , and yet some are hallucinogenic as well :P) -Wildlife =Deer , Rabbit , Birds , Fish , Boar , Cows , Pigs , Cats , Dogs , Snakes , Moosei , Bears , Wolf's , etc -Animals need to be more realistic and flee if you get to close to them or hear gunshots , also they should be in their habitats , and infected should be attracted to them just as they are to survivors possibly . -

Happens to me after 2 log in log outs , i only switch servers if the loading takes more than 5 min or there is a hacker obviously or if it's nightime , i do not server hop as an exploit , i server hop to avoid shitty play . ( i do play nighttime sometimes ) -

I like the idea of stronger military infected due to physical training . I disagree with the idea of making the infected having set in stone skills , but things such as being grappled by the infected or tackled or bitten or even having the infected hit away your gun seem like a good way to make the infected more dangerous and frightening. I DO NOT want to see some 10 second animation where the zed is just holding on to me biting me and i can't do anything , if they can grapple i want to be able to fight back instantly , also getting knocked out by an infected and having them chew on you while you just lay there with a timer is complete bullshit and should be immediately taken out of the game . Sorry for the clutter. -

I think weapons should be realistic , sniper rifles are normally one hit kills or at least crippling depending on what rifle it is . .50 cal shot anywhere waist or head = Death -
How about we keep Chernarus and add new areas and content to it. I am kinda iffy on there being completely different maps . I haven't covered all of Chernarus yet , another map will just make me anxious thinking i'll have to explore that whole map lol.
