Some people dont know what a coward is.
slartibartfast (DayZ) replied to Jeff the killer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is NOT what doodenhaf said at all. Where did you learn to read and understand what is written? He is quite correct in saying that this is a survival game. Not a dying game. If you have no advantage then the absolute best thing to do is find some cover and do a runner. -
How to incorporate a more team oriented endgame.
slartibartfast (DayZ) replied to T-Pag's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If bases do become prevelent then they should also be magnets for zombie hordes, a la res evil. I am talking about hundreds of superbly aggressive walking dead that will eventually wear down and smash through any barricades, requiring much repair with hard to get materials. And really, let's get rid of the high end military gear. Seriously, I was in the army for 8 years, went to war, and never saw anything more lethal than a gpmg and definitely not anything anti-material like the as50. -

Funnily enough ALL of these things are easy to find. If you actually are willing to put in the effort. -
Spoiled Meat???
slartibartfast (DayZ) replied to lucid_wolf@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Silly idea.<I stick by this> We have been curing meat for thousands of years to help it last through winters and times of hardship. Let us assume that the 'cooking meat' process is actually curing it and move on.<this is true> What is next?if you sleep outside, you wake up cold. So we need sleeping bags and personnel tents or to sleep in doors. Drinking all that water and eating all the beans means you have to evacuate your bowel. Wet clothes slow you down. Dirty clothes make you smell. Therefore we should use laundry.<these previous three lines were me being extremely sarcastic> Guys, there is realism and then there is an infection that wipes out the entire population, turning them into flesh craving maniacs. Tsk! -
Should tents work...?
slartibartfast (DayZ) replied to DancerInTheDark's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ok. Tents are broken. We all know it. Best way to use a tent is to place it and save it empty. Wait til the next server restart and then use it to save gear after it settles. Now, herein lies a problem. Various conditions for tents. It may NOT appear after a server restart - it seems to be about 50/50 on that. It may appear but be empty, even after a gear save. Wait for next server restart. It may appear and only have the gear in it you saved first(still to be confirmed) so make sure your first save is the most important. Invariably an empty tent ISN'T a raided tent, it will be an incorrectly spawned tent. Unless you are completely dense when it comes to placing them. -
Pee beds made me LOL!

Best way to test it. Find a small city and run up and down the main road, avoid the sidewalk and any grassy areas. You should become aware of the difference almost immediately. ;)

best areas to hunt for animal
slartibartfast (DayZ) replied to tripl_b's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In all seriousness though. Look for wide open spaces with a bit of a hill, for some mad reason. I always seem to get the cows on a slope. Forget about rabbits, unless your name is fud, too hard to hit and too little return. -

Need taxi: Kamenka to Zelengorsk
slartibartfast (DayZ) replied to zacroyce@yahoo.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have nothing constructive to add here. Set a way point. Look at it in game. Press 'c' then 'w'. -
Takistan is ok if you like the wide open desert. The infected lose interest almost immediately and lots of buildings with multiple entry/exit points. I did like the enormous hotels for loot points and sniping zeds. :D Haven't tried utes. I hear it is extremely small and PvP intensive. Commander is already managing takistan downloads.

Hmmm. Looking through the forums there seems to be a bit of a war of words going on between the admin of this server and a clan that used it. This should be very interesting.

Please DO NOT refer to what these wankers do as 'hacking'. They are merely using software that they subscribe to, ironically, and running scripts that cheat in various ways. Anyway, I heard that the injectors are being developed by rival companies that may have a vested interest in the failure of dayZ. ;)
-
Let us not call them hackers. Hacking is not what these script kiddies, or skiddies, do. They have no idea what the software they subscribe to actually does. They are morons, half-wits, thugs and bullies. Their sense of entitlement knows no bounds. Using their nefarious scripts requires neither intelligence or any gaming skill. If I stepped on dog shit in the street. I would wash it off and continue on with my life. If I stepped on one of these I would burn the shoes and discard the ashes into an open sewer. If there was a skiddie on fire in front of me, I wouldn't piss on him to put it out. Funny story. I was in the game section at jb hifi last weekend and overheard a couple of them talking about the game and how easy it was to pwn a server. Getting down on my belly and snaking around behind them, I swapped my main for a hatchet. Rising up behind them from the beyonce album stand I cut and hacked and slashed, breaking bones and spilling blood and gore on the floor. Yeah, there were two less skiddies in the game that evening. Ok, that is how it went down in my head(i really do play too often). I did interrupt their conversation though, explaining to them that there were thousands of people that had paid good money to play this game and that we were fed up with the type of shenanigans they were bringing and I asked them if they could just fuck off and play CoD instead. Two rather sheepish young boys promptly left with their tails firmly between there legs. I turned and crouch walked to the nearest fir tree(ps vita section) to shake the attentions of the infected(salesman)we had attracted.

So apparently you can't put a gun in a rent directly from your pack?
slartibartfast (DayZ) replied to NickM (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is a good point. I will add to it though. Tools count as primary weapons. Remember to count maps, compasses, watches etc when putting the big guns in a tent.
