I'm keen in joinning a squad / clan of friendly yet mature group of people to tag along; a well organized clan or a tactical realism squad would be ideal. I'm close to a year veteran, mostly spendt skulking about on my own. However, I just recently came back to DayZ after a away period, so i'm a complete stranger to the 'new' game modes such as Origins etc. I'm 25+ of age, i speak fluent english although not native [hope that is not a problem] Im from the EU but i often play late hours so i suppose NA crews are ok. Hi i need some help, i've been away from the game close to a year [my toon is 222 days old] and alot has changed since then. I need some hints regarding the new changes to DayZ if ok. So, the red gun icon flashes red when in combat to prevent Alt+Tab, right? Also, should i carry toilet paper and razor, are those items necessary or mearly cosmetic? Are tents reliable? i mean, completly, because a year ago it was just a useless item If so, is storage in vehicles also reliable? Why is my heat meter defaulted to red? Were thermal scoped weapons completly removed from public servers? Any other changes i should know about? Thx alot!

Yeah the "ENEMY MAN @ 0 9 7 0 6 5" You need to go to Options, Audio and mute RADIO. It can be annoying.

ArmA is a very mature game, considered a "dad's" game because of its intricate gameplay. Most ArmA clans are extremely rigorous, detailed and tactical to a point where the typical ArmA player is ex-military or a retired police officer. Overall its a game with more structure then the average FPS simply because it originates from real battlefield simulators developed by Bohemian Interactive (VB2). ArmA was never meant to be a popular game to begin with, it was aimed at a specific consumer. Nevertheless it has a loyal community going to 6 years now. DayZ is 5 months old and already suffered a significant decrease in population server-wide; its infested with hackers that seriously break the game and under age kids that run in Elektro playing TDM as if in CoD. DayZ barely took off and its already shaken, if its not released soon it may never stand-out as a game. I enjoy and follow DayZ, but as of late i've been playing ArmA.

Or that yes! Some people may find ArmA to complicated and give up without experiencing the game. Players are "dumbed down" by overly polished games, influenced by the marketing hype and price tags. Some recent releases easily stand out as examples: D3, GW2, BF3, etc. It's fairly simple to sell a game nowadays, copy someone elses idea, make a eye-catching web page, a free 2 play system and any mediocre dev. team can shit out a "game" (warz). So yeah, it's likely that alot of gamers find ArmA excessive because it's to "complex".

ArmA is a great game, people dont even consider that DayZ had such a outstading success because of ArmA gameplay mechanics, namely PVP. My opinion is that people are brainwashed by titles such as CS, BF, CoD, MoH etc. They simply assume that ArmA is another mindless spray n' pray FPS with no quality.

Arma players are pretty serious about the game, it comes of no suprise the way they think about DayZ

I go further as to say they should be removed from the game entirely.

Its not about the gear at all, i died in some occasions and i always re-geared and had fun doing so. What i mean is that from all the pvt HIVES out there, i didnt expect this to happen at RINAUN'S. The TIME that i invested playing in the server was simply wiped. Also, a week or so ago, RINAUN'S just stopped the use of WAYPOINTS, and alot of people lost their tents and vehicles because of that, as it would be almost impossible to return to them even if you had a general sense as to where they were. Then nightime was removed and now its back again, like -"i had a g17, but i threw it away because they removed nightime, but now its back again, grrr "- see what i mean? Im not complaining, just making a point as to PVT HIVE can be as unstable as official HIVE, even more so because is subject to so many tests and tweaks from ADMINS.
