  1. Yes there is, goto Options and Gameplay Options. Head Bob is a slider you can turn it down.
  2. We need to know for sure that private hives will be fully supported in standalone. You can see now they are popular for a lot of reasons. They are open ended, more secure and allow administration of these servers the ability to customize them to be unique. So we need absolute confirmation here. We need to know for sure that private hives will be fully supported in standalone. Along with this comes the requirement of access to files. We the private hive admins need full access and would prefer to host standalone on our current dedicated servers. Let us use these files and keep the communities that have formed around various private hives happy. Please don't ruin everything great that has happened by not supporting private hives fully. They need that full support where they have access to the files and the ability to host them on their own servers. That is the biggest thing a lot of people are nervous about right now. Please, do the right thing. Hell, make us pay for private hive server licenses and give us access to server files that way - so long as we can host on the serverbox that we please all will be golden. I implore you, give us a clear and concise answer. Settle the restless private hive admins. Thank you for your time.
  3. Used to be able to turn them off, but as of the last recent DayZ version(s) you cannot. I had them off in 1.7.2.5 on the old Atomic Gaming servers.
  4. Admin from BMRF here yet again. Origonal "post" on these forums where evidence was presented of his hacks, then he was reminded appealing a private hive ban on these forums has no effect and a dayzforum mod locked the topic: dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/109133-banned-bmrf-server-3-fake-teleport/ Speaks for itself. Come play at BMRF and we'll do our best to protect you from hackers and teleporters like this guy. Someone is mad his teleporting got found out by dedicated admins. Edit: To confirm, this guy will remain banned, we did confirm he was a hacker using teleportation and we did provide evidence to the fact on our own forums and even here.
  5. Thank you gentlemen for the free advertising. Now everyone that reads this will know we are vigilant about hackers and got their backs.
  6. lol. Because when I was viewing the survivor_history table I organize the timestamps by descending so I can see your latest actions first. Like I said, you read it from bottom to top. I guess you're surprised we caught your teleporting.
  7. ForrestGump here, the admin from BMRF who banned you. 1) We are a private hive server. Appealing your ban on the dayzmod forums will have absolutely no effect. 2) You did in fact teleport and now you're angry that we actually caught you. For anyone watching from the outside, his friend also tried to claim on his behalf that he picked up a camo skin. I duly informed them that we can tell the difference between any possible skin teleports and a script kiddie using 1337 scriptz to teleport. This person was in fact using a teleport script to move around. There are multiple jumps but the coordinates I showed him are obvious in themselves. We have a survivor_history table that tracks every change all survivors make to our database which allows us to bust hacks like this. Just so everyone knows, no admin aboose. Its all legit over at the Billy Mays Remembrance Foundation. Also relevant though mostly explained in this post: http://bmrf.me/vbforums/showthread.php?1229-Note-regarding-bans-for-teleporting Maybe some of you would care to join us? Looking for a server with good and active admins? BMRF is what you're looking for!
  8. Then whats this community github I've been hearing about? Rocket posted on twitter once about it, I figure its for servers but I am having trouble confirming that.
  9. 2) You will have problems when you have many players driving vehicles at the same time - especially multiple helicopters can and will cause mass server-wide desync. This is due to limitations in Arma 2. Atomic Gaming used to suffer these issues before I moved over to BMRF. Also many other servers suffer from it as well. Most notably multiple helis in the air seem to cause it the most often if the server is full. Active vehicles in general can cause it. The more active vehicles combined with more loaded objects on the map can cause various sync issues. Again this is a limitation of Arma 2. 3) HFB? Anyway, with the arma and bliss configs, if crosshairs are on you can move your mousehweel over a player and get a name and range printout on screen just saying. Nice server.
  10. With a release date of december now being officially announced the priority of getting an answer to this question in an official or definitive way is now more pressing for many communities. Edit: Rocket did post this on twitter, though it does not mention private hives specifically it is promising. An official answer regarding private hives would put a lot of us at ease.
  11. We had a big discussion on this months ago. I'm very surprised the same sort of thing is not happening now. Fellow admins of private hives, care to weigh in some more?
  12. I understand the devs are busy, would be really nice to get some sort of official answer here. Would also be nice to see more discussion on the subject at hand. Preferably without a bunch of generic arguments against the subject. There may be valid arguments against this idea but there are also arguments against it that are blatantly wrong or very misleading.

    Vilayer Servers Down?

No. Bliss does not have these sorts of exploits in it. VILayer was (likely) hacked due to any number of SQL injection methods (they dont lock their stuff down). They also weren't running automated backups (wtf?). They also gave out root access to a few customers. So its possible one of them used that access to perform a complete wipe of everything. Either that or a hacker got into their unsecure setup and had some fun out of protest. Its their fault and they are blaming Bliss hive software. They are passing the blame torch. They are scumbags.
  14. I have heard there is a community github of sorts but the bottom line is we really need confirmation on what kind of freedom to access we will have. We need to be 100% sure we can run this on our servers of our choosing. Like I said, force us to license and pay for the support of running a private hive if you must. No problem there. We just need open access and the ability to host where we choose.

    Vilayer Servers Down?

Pretty scummy. They publicly blame Bliss but in reality this was most likely a mysql injection attack via any number of buffer overflow exploits. Passing the blame torch along instead of taking the flak themselves. Really professional.
  16. Hey friend, fellow admin from another server here. Got some info for you: Assuming your resetting time using your servers system clock, stop it right now. This messes with logs and various things in your database can go wonky if you mess with that time/day too much. Manage your daytime by forcing it via mission.pbo or server.pbo modifications. Especially if your running Bliss this shouldn't be very difficult and wont break anything. Manually changing the system time can cause a lot of problems. The least of which is making logs harder to read. Lots of issues can occur in the database and relevant cleanup scripts and so on. Do it with pbo edits instead and it wont cause problems. Don't rock 150+ vehicles or 300+ vehicles or whichever it is. I know it sounds fun but the issue is that if there are a lot of vehicles active on the server at the same time you will get serverwide desync problems. I can't understate this enough. It is no fun at all when every player on the server has red bars for 30 seconds, then 5 seconds of ok gameplay, then yellow/red bars on every player again. Better server hardware wont make any difference with this problem, its related to the server software. The best alternative is to have like 500+ possible spawn points with a global vehicle cap of 100 or less. Give the spawn points lower odds so vehicles spawn in a staggered somewhat random fashion every restart across all spawns. This will also increase playability for your players (because they will be finding new spawn points for a long time). Enabling crosshairs also enables the scroll wheel-rangefinder and it also enables mouse-over-player nametag display. This is a veteran server, just my recommendation that you disable them and tell people to aim down their gun sights (right click). Don't advertise 99% hacker free (we whitelist at BMRF and we can't even claim that). Just advertise that you have a lot of active admins policing the server. Warn people about walking into debug land. As long as you got Gotcha Anticheat, if a player walks off the map they will be teleported up into the air and die as a result. (more of a suggestion here) get a website or forums online. There are many different kinds of forum software out there you can use that are completely free. You can't get globally banned for actions on a private hive server. You are globally banned for something you did somewhere else or you downloaded something which stole your cdkey and a hacker got you globally banned - you don't have to try and download hacks to get your cd-key stolen either it could've been any number of things. Some installers for Lingor island stole cd keys at one point.
  17. Limiting admin capabilities on private hives is not the answer Hoskins. All of us should absolutely not have to pay for the mistakes of a few bad apples, thats simply not fair at all. Private hives allow us to be in full control of the server environment. When you run a server for most games this is how it works. Locking down servers does not make any rational sense especially when we're talking about private hives. And they could always blacklist and BEBan a truly "bad admin" anyway. The "full paid support" I'm talking about would allow us access to all required files and the ability to be in full control of our server and host it where we please - but it could include provisions outlining when an admin is deemed highly abusive and ways of dealing with them, like banning them from the game and blacklisting their server. Private hives ought to have full access to the server files and the ability to host where they choose. I understand why people want to limit administrative capabilities on public hives, but private hives are a different isolated environment. Also they could rather easily amend something to a ToS to prevent companies such as VILayer from doing what they do. By the way, you're going to see custom maps regardless. I don't know why you brought those into a conversation about private hives. Rocket has said himself on many occaisons they want to allow modders to release maps and eventually support them in their releasing of those maps.
  18. Mods and critics, I humbly request you read all the way through before deciding to criticize this post or suspend me. Before I begin I feel its important to state right now that this is not an advertisement. I will speak of my communities server, but I will not link you to it. By default all DayZ servers are connected via a shared player database known as the hive. If your playing on hive servers, you may have noticed times when the hive lagged you out from connecting. Due to the popularity of DayZ the hive database management server has been unable to keep up with demand at peak usage times. Though temporary it is annoying and sometimes the singular hive server itself goes down - and when it goes down you can't play on any hive servers! Alongside the occasional log in issues on hive servers other problems also present themselves such as hive server hoppers (hopping from server to server with their character, usually in a good sniping position or something like that). In addition, rocket (DayZ developer) has hive servers on a complete lockdown. Admins have next to no rights on their own servers that they physically own. It is ridiculous, and it is for that and many more reasons that we have non-hive servers today. In our non-hive server, your player save is isolated to our server and database. So not only do you lose the problems of the hive right here (and at roughly 150 other nonhives!) you also gain the comfort of playing on servers with admins that are actually capable of doing things and aren't locked down by ridiculous agreements and blatantly unfair rules that only hurt admins of hive servers and help hackers. Sure, you might encounter a few bad admins that cheat or abuse the power they have hosting a non hive server. But the thing is at least half of all non-hive servers appear to have awesome admins (including mine, but perhaps I have a slight personal bias). Its just a much more stable enviroment. Let me be clear: I have nothing against the idea of a hive and hive servers. I have a problem with the execution of it. You had two hive servers, you shut one down and then popularity skyrocketed. Now what? Now we can't login half the time especially at peak hours. Now we play on non-hives. And we notice something when we (referring to the community here in general) play nonhive servers: The lag is gone. Another thing we notice is that the good admins of decent servers who are putting in an honest effort have the power to keep their servers clean. Last night, my server got thunderdomed by a hacker. We had caught and banned his friend for scripting himself in an AS50. His response was to thunderdome the server. The result? The hacker was banned in less than a minute of his attack, the server was quickly shut down and restarted, and people who were teleported were escorted away by admins from our server (while I was busy sifting through the database and various logs to confirm what just happened) and encouraged to continue playing the game as normal. You made an amazing mod, a type of game that people have been waiting to play for years. You create something epic, awesome and amazing for millions of gamers out there who have been waiting for something like this - and what do you do? You pull Admin rights and put users up first? Should we get rid of all the police in the world because a few of them are bad cops? No. The bad cops are the MINORITY. Both in (most) police forces, and in DayZ server admins. An admin abuses his powers? You blacklist him. You ban his GUID from the hive. Maybe you even give him a Battleye ban as well. You punish HIM. You do NOT punish every admin in the hive by severely limtiing their abilities and creating a system. This is the completely wrong approach. Its wrong and its disgusting. You are punishing the people who pay you to run a restricted server they have no control over. Obviously there is something very seriously wrong here. I have never run a hive server. I'd like to think if I had started playing DayZ sooner perhaps I would have. I only started up, about 10 days ago. Now I'm hosting a nonhive server on a dedicated box. Its great. Loads fast, holds a buttload of players and if some script kiddie comes in and starts running stuff, he's usually out the door before any harm can come from it. Oh, not to mention I can also whitelist my server if I decide the hacking attacks become too frequent. I can whitelist based off user GUID's. Oh, not to mention I can also modify the database and fix problems. I have the ability to restore items that are lost due to bugs. If a player reports the loss of a backpack (say, from grabbing another backpack without putting his down) I have the ability to goto my database and restore his backpack. I also have the ability to look in various caches, logging and a secondary redundant database that contains older data in order to confirm the loss. Then I can just restore it. Its just that easy. Why would I want the rights and power to do that? Well I wouldn't - not on a hive server anyway. What I want the right for is the right to run and talk about non-hive servers without getting suspended or removed from the forums. We deserve full support, just as much as any hive server admin. We deserve equal rights, we are not doing anything wrong. We are providing a service to a community in need. We are filling demand for private hive servers. We NEED support. You ever play a MMORPG? You ever see a GM (gamemaster) within one of those games? Thats an admin. He has all of the above abilities I talked about and more. he is policed by his superiors to ensure he does a good job and does not offer any player an advantage. And for the most part, that GM does do a good job. He restores lost and stolen items, investigates hacking and botting reports, recoveres scammed or stolen items depending on the game, he bans hackers, he mutes spammers. So, why do I host a non hive server? I host a non hive server for security. I host a non hive server so I can control the hosting enviroment that my friends and I are paying for. I host a non hive server so the community that plays on it can play in a decent and secure enviroment. I host a non hive server because need be, I can whitelist it to a selected, trusted GUID list. I host a non hive server because I've hosted game servers for years and its common sense to have some form of control. I host a non hive server because the hive creates a large amount of problems. And I protest very strongy against the whole push against non-hive servers coming from the developers. Stop shutting us out. We are future paying customers too. Hell, we'd probably be willing to pay a small fee to register as an official private hive server (even though there should be no additional charge for such a thing at all) Let us talk on your forums. We paid for arma, we are testing dayZ just like everyone else, and most of us players who play the game now will be buying dayz when it gets that standalone release. And when the standalone is released. I will host a non hive server. I will host a non hive server because for the community growing around my server it is the right, moral and decent thing to do. If non hive servers dont show up on the list, we as non hive admins will find a way to get around it by providing ip connections or direct connect apps that launch right into the server. Who knows what we'll do. BUT WE WANT YOUR SUPPORT. Thats why I host a non hive server. Stop suspending people talking about this. What? Is it "against the rules"? You know, pot is illegal too but we can't point to a single death in medical history that can be directly attributed to marijuana consumption. Talking and sharing non hive servers might be against some kind of rules or TOS or whatever, but that does not make it right. The Non-hive community is growing very fast. It deserves just as much support as the hive servers. Non hive admins tend to be much nicer people. They just want to play - and if crap hits the fan they have the power and ability to take care of it. Do not take that as a jab at hive admins. I have the utmost respect for you guys just for putting up with all the stuff that you have. Let us host in peace. Let us post in peace. We are an equal part of this community. Support non hive servers!
  19. Come join us over at Atomic Gaming Network!(click) We are hosted on a 1gbps connection. UPDATE: WE NOW HAVE AUTOMATED WHITELISTING! SIMPLY REGISTER AN ACCOUNT ON THE FORUMS, VERIFY YOUR EMAIL AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO JOIN OUR SERVERS! Some quick notes about our servers and what we offer: Basic settings roll-out: [REGULAR] mode with modified settings (waypoints enabled, player tags disabled. Direct Communications enabled) Server 3 is an [EXPERT] Server. It is everything you expect of an expert server, it does also have our vehicles, bikes and added buildings! A whitelisted environment 3 Servers.2x Regular mode, 1x Expert mode Chernarus#1 operates using Standard Chicago time Chernarus#2 operates using inverted Chicago time ( -12 Chicago) Chernarus#3(EXPERT) operates using inverted Chicago time (-12 chicago) All Chernarus servers have spawn bikes!(click!) (75 bikes at or near various spawn points, which are reset on every server restart) Over 200 Vehicles per server - some that you do not normally see in DayZ. NEW: Added buildings! We have added some buildings around the map without breaking the overall balance of the map. Places like Kamenka for example, now have a few medium residential houses for you to loot. Check our forums for details and a link to our DayZDB map! Regular restarts to keep server performance up. (we prefer insta-loading. If it takes us more than 1 minute to go from loading to boots on ground, we schedule a server restart and notify all players with at least 30 minutes in warning time) (we have recently started using a new software solution for our servers that only requires restarts due to performance issues after many hours, usually 6 to 8. Sometimes 12, sometimes longer!) The rules of our servers are very straight forward and are actively enforced by the Admins and GM teams (we have two levels of active administration) No combat logging No Hacking No microphone use whatsoever for any reason in the side chat channel. Text only in side chat. No player shall wear the [GM] tag on our server. This tag is reserved for admins/mods of the server. This offense is ban worthy without warning! No Item duping. If you find a form of item duping that works, please report it to us. In addition to those rules, we also have a "Code of Conduct": - You may loot tents and bases, but under no circumstances are you allowed to drive a car over anyone's tent - Absolutely NO sniping of freshly spawned, unarmed characters around cherno or elektro (There is no equivalent "no sniping unarmed" Code of Conduct on our Lingor server. You may shoot to kill whoever you want in Lingor) (you do spawn with a hatchet on our servers. If you have your hatchet armed, you are considered "armed" and therefore fair game for snipers) Spawn Loadouts: They are the same on both regular servers, the expert server has a slightly different loadout. The current spawn loadout is as follows: (when you spawn, you start with these items) Regular Servers spawn loadout: 1 Hatchet 1 Compass 1 Military Flashlight 1 Painkiller 2 Bandages Expert Server spawn loadout: 1 Hatchet 1 Flashlight 1 Painkiller 2 Bandages Some things we are currently working on bringing in: Adding buildings to Chernarus (with balance). Confirmed right now: barracks in starry, fire station in Berezino, a couple medium residentials in Kamenka. We are adding to the map while still keeping it balanced to provide a more positive player experience. This addition is currently in progress on our test server. Done! new buildings are now added! Adding vehicle spawns - currently 73 vehicles spawn on all servers (plus 75 spawn bikes on both Chernarus servers). We are working on adding many more this weekend using our test server. This addition is currently being worked on! Done! Now we have 240 vehicles! This number does not include our spawnbikes. If you want to include those in the count, then our total vehicle count is 315! Come join us over at Atomic Gaming! Dear other non-hive server admins: Do you want our spawn bikes? Just go here and follow instructions! We will make some of our server mods available upon request (Send requests to Forrest Gump in the form of a PM, all other requests may be ignored). See you in Chernarus! -- Gump out *radio buzz*
  20. Updates: Lots of new buildings added. Started buildings a town in Skalisty Island as well, its turning into a nice hotzone (no military there, however). Also added a bunch of PBX's across the map. be sure to check our chernarus map via our website!
  21. You can edit the amount of items total that drops at heli crashes, you can also change the maximum amount of heli crashes. You cannot however directly edit its specific item drops without modding the dayz pbos themselves - which means your players would all need to download your custom version of the mod - which means you server would be less populated. OP: Thanks!!! You have my beans, good sir.
  22. We now have a lot of active admins and are looking for 1 or 2 that play out of Europe. If you want to help, get to know us on teamspeak!
  23. Well we did ban 3 hackers tonight. Combat logging is also against the rules, and we are capable of detecting it. We just need you to report it to a GM if possible.
  24. We have gone through a lot of changes and stuff. I have updated all the information in this topic, instead of posting a new one. Therefore, #bump#, hope that's okay.
  25. Very nice post Zoltan, you make a lot of good points. Private and public servers ought to both be fully supported. I do hope there is support for us there when standalone comes as it has been said there will be. Admins of public servers clearly need more power. If an admin of a public server abuses his power, global ban his GUID with battleye and blacklist his server. Problem solved. Don't punish all the admins for what a few bad apples will do (I refer again to my comment regarding police in my first post).
