I used to play DayZ on my Desktop, but for Christmas I received a Laptop, it had Windows 8 pre-installed on it, I installed Commander and found out that it was not compatible, I then installed Six and found that that it still had some similar errors but it seems to be able to run DayZ, my question is, how do I install the updates for DayZ and each map using Six, and if you aren't able to, how do I manually install each update if I were to download them each time? It seems that Commander is not able to install the updates which is the only problem with compatibility.

Thank you so much. I honestly tried that with Windows Xp but it told me that it would not work. I unfortunately did not even try with Windows 7. That worked. Thank you for that statement, I feel a bit dumb now for not double checking my first attempt at compatibility mode, thank you for saving me and friends a few hours of waiting and typing. Lol

As I will explain and have explained, Beta's have issues, DayZ is in it's alpha, WarZ is in it's Alpha, Halo 4 was in a Beta at one point, people still bitched about how it wasn't 100 percent complete. Windows 8 was a rough beta, it has updated so that it is fully functional with minor bugs here and there. I have had it for a total of 7-8 hours and the only bug I have gotten has been from DayZ commander and it warned me on the website that it was not compatible with Windows 8. I was informed. The problems people have are that the old way they used to do things has changed. There is no start menu, it is like an app menu on the xbox live screen. I click the windows button and bring up a bunch of tiles which I can scroll over to. Control panel is in My Computer now and my computer is accessed through My Documents. If people don't take the time to google their errors I could see why they didn't like it. But for someone with computer experience from 7, Vista, XP and who spends a decent amount of time on computers, they can figure it would easily.

Thank you Orlok, I will try that if no one here can help, but I know that Commander will not be compatible with 8 for a little bit, The only error is that when you update the patches it crashes, you can join games and sort through them all, just as you try to update it gives you an error.

I have 7 on my Desktop which runs DayZ fine, but I need to install it on my new Laptop, i have 8 and 7 is no longer sold in stores as it is now outdated by 8. The problem is still that the programs have not updated to the current 'patch' much like the problems with some servers that do not update to current patches when you update, then you have to wait a few days for them to update and play on the new upgrade. Windows 8 came out for public use a short time ago. People complained about Vista when it came out, now its a fine operating system, Windows 7 release was just Vista with 2 SP. But this isn't a discussion about OS. This is a discussion about how I manually install patches and updates since the applications are still outdated.

No, my problem is that DayZ Commander and Play with Six are not compatible with Windows 8. You forget that only big reputable programs have updated to windows 8 and I will have to wait a while for other small programs to take the time to update. Just like how XP, Vista, and Windows 7 were when they were released, time makes perfect. I need to solve the problem manually rather than relying on updates. I could install Vista if there was a problem with 8 but currently it is a decent OS.

Or is this just not true at all?

I heard from some Youtube video that when you logged out of Lingor Island you lose all your stuff. Was this an old bug? Or is this something that will still happen currently?

I was interested in trying out this new map, the problem I seem to be getting is every time I join the server it kicks me off back to the main menu. Is this because my character is still alive on Chernarus? If this isn't the problem and you can move your person from place to place, then do you keep everything on your person including your Ghillie Suit?

I like to scope out Cherno far back in the fields with my sniper, I look down on fellow unsuspecting survivors with my sniper and keep an eye out for them as I am ready to save them from bandits. The game is a lot more fun when you are ruining people's time who have ruined other people's time.

Was exploring a barracks after a friend and I just got there, we were about to run out of it and as I checked the last room, there he stood ready to shoot us, I fell down and my buddy went in shooting, he killed him with hip fire, then died himself. I arrived at the barracks 45 minutes later, I found nvg on the way, a light machine gun, an AS50 sniper, I then found all three of our bodies lying on the floor, I found the truck hidden in the forest as it was, I loaded the truck plum full of bags loaded with ammo, guns were plentiful, I had two car tires to fully repair the rest of the UAZ, I was ready to leave this place, I joked with my friend over the Mic, saying "Now that I am ready to go I probably will start getting shot at" I get in the car, and start flying down the road of the Airfield, I then off in the distance here the sound of a bullet, then another, then the shatter of my bones as it killed me. So.. I guess that doesn't make a great story, but someone got some good loot, hope you enjoyed it!

So I realize that when driving around towns that items and zombies don't spawn. But what about Animals? I have seen rabbits in the Airfield, but I have yet to find a cow/sheep/boar. I don't know if it is because I am not looking, just wondering if I should ditch my car for a bit to go hunting, or if I can drive around until I find something. Another question is about when I reach below 3k health and start collapsing, I have reached the point of collapsing while running, I have collapsed on a ladder before which insta-killed me, and I have collapsed in my car, fortunately I was stopped looking at the map, it made me fall out of the door, so my question is if I am driving 40-60 kmph if I will die if I collapsed in the car since it would throw me out. I have 2879 BP.

Thank you, I can fortunately confirm that since I was just driving to a town to get a can of food since I was desperate and then bam a cow showed up.

I may take that Blood Transfusion and a can of food if that wouldn't be too much to ask, as my man now has began to die of starvation. What would you want in return?

I read and it seems to be accurate, but when driving if you drive too close to a looting area without leaving the car, the items will not spawn, nor will zombies. When you get out of the car, then Zombies do spawn but items remain gone, much like if you disconnect at a building and come back 5 minutes later, not even the empty cans will be in the area. But I understand how to find animals when on foot, I just don't know about when in my car.

I wasn't too attached. I was simply hoping the bandit would read this and know I was happy about the joy he was going to experience from what I found. I was bringing back enough gear for 8 people and he intercepted me. I thought that if he got it, I would let him know the amount of effort I put into it, if he didn't get it, then others can read the story and hope to get the same loot options.

My friend just obtained Arma II and was able to run both of them fine, we told him the steps to go through in order to start up DayZ and play, the installation went smooth, no problems, but we then downloaded the Six Launcher, the old version and newer version. Before he can install SixLauncher the error comes up. When I went to google and just typed in the numbers for the error, no results came up which is the first time google has not been able to solve my problems.. I think I am experiencing a real life end of the world scenario.. Well, since I have not found out how to solve the problem and it seems no one else has it, what is there to do for fixing it?

As they all said, there is no way to restore your character, Remember to disconnect if you ever see yourself respawn in the air. I have been killed by hackers that way, everyone has. There are plenty of people that do it. The only way to solve it is them just giving up, it will get old for them and they will learn to play the game at some point. Humanity is at it's worst on the internet. But yes being alive for a month seems rough to die to.

This is a common problem which is easily fixable. Start by running Arma II, then run Arma II Operation Arrowhead, If either of these don't run, do not worry. They didn't for me the first time. I just restart my computer and then right clicked Steam pressing "Run as Admin" then loaded both Arma games up. I then was able to get in through Six Launcher. I hope this helped. Some people don't have to restart, but my friend was having glitches with his game when he didn't restart. So I would recommend restarting no matter what.

and just puting thought to this, you can't be bleeding for 6 hours. You probably are incapacitated because you were in shock and lagged out, so 6 hours means 2:20. And if you were bleeding and are incapped for 2 minutes you will end up dying if not having more than 10k health. So I would just hope you died in the forest where you can find your stuff. But if you are bleeding and incapped then your problem will solve itself.

I don't know if a hacker can do that.. But it seems as if it's more of a glitch or cheat rather than a bug. I would happily go look for you and kill you then wait for you to return to your body if you want that. But I have not heard of this, I know if you get incapacitated on a ladder and fall off you stay incapacitated for a while longer after the timer went, but if it has been 6 hours, then I just do not know.

I looked them up and found out that they spawn in medical areas. Does that mean they have a low chance to spawn in the boxes? Or just may be on the ground around/in the boxes? I probably will just have my friend shoot me since that seems like the best cure for an infection.

Was hoping someone had Morphine they could give me in Elektro. Broke my bone and am just crawling to the nearest hospital, hoping its there!
