the survivor should be in the dlc files zombie in the dayz files most likely they are inside the .pbo archives -
the standalone will actualy require a less powerfull pc

yes it is possible to use the steam overlay while playing simply check the box in dayz commander but it probably wont count as game time also you can use your retai cd key to addthe game to your steam library

you can acces a striped donw version of the debug menue by pressing insert -
just set everything on max and turn off the stupid motion blur thats how i play with my 550 ti and i get 90 fps in arma 2 this way the big problem with dayz is the cpu and not the graphics

the current testing res ist 720p for each eye the final version will have 1080p so i dont see a problem there -

the aks-74u is the shortend version of the aks.74u and technically a smg with different ammo it is infact the best smg because the bizon dmg is sh.t

i would suggest you to play in windowed/borderless windowed mode it speeds "tabbing" (alt+tab) out of the game up by a insane amount -
"topography" does work in arma wind on the other hand not! the "ace" mod adds this feature thats why map markers can be off 100-200meters they are based off the sealevel

bad idea if the vehicle gets moved your charakter will be lost due to bugs you will be floating midair still inside the vehicle but not be able to leave it -

as50 is superior in every way in this game... and in reallife -
joysticks are hard to set up but once you are used to it its great also its incredible hard to land a plane without one : P i would say the hardest vehicles to fly in arma are the dual rotor choppers (dunna what they called) planes are ofcourse easier btw the armory is the wrong mode open the editor and place vehicles (double klick choose vehicle then test map)
