Sprained Ankle (instead of instant broken leg)
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to BlazeMcNight's topic in Suggestions
I like this idea -- you could use a pressure bandage to wrap the ankle to gain some mobility, then take pain killers to get back to normal. I really hate that they only have broken/not broken status right now. There's also this weird 'my leg is in pain' status that I don't understand though... maybe they intend it to be like this when the game is released? What on Earth does this have to do with twisted ankles? Make a new thread bro.... Or search for 'nails' and add to one of those topics. -
Riot shields and improv shields
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to GrumpyGat (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
gotcha -- I assumed we were talking about bullet proof riot shields the cops would use. If they were just random junk, I wouldn't expect them to stop spit balls. -
glad to hear it - thanks for the info.

Riot shields and improv shields
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to GrumpyGat (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I know this is an old post, but I'm amazed no one pointed out that the speed an arrow flies at is _nothing like_ the speed a bullet flies at. 400 fps is incredibly fast for a bow -- a slow bullet (.45 ACP) travels at ~900 fps. -
They could decide on a specific type of snake to be common to the region and have that type of antivenom available in the hospitals and clinics.

I like it - the woods should be a bit scarier than what it is now. It's safer to go into the depths of the forest than it is to visit a farmhouse right now. I think spiders and scorpions should be added as well... you might not even see them, you might just walk through a web and have a random chance to get bitten. For scorpions you should be able to find one in a shoe or backpack if you don't check prior to putting them on.

That's exactly what I was going to spray paint on my jacket "Rigor Mortis: The Zombie Tamer"

Before they do anything else on weapons I'd like to see the range increased on the m4... it's ridiculous that I can't injure a kitten past 100 meters with a weapon that is accurate (irl) to 500 m with iron sights and lethal well beyond that.

My huge suggestion list (long topic)
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to demongornot's topic in Suggestions
tl;dr did you consider breaking these into separate suggestions so they could be commented on separately and discussed by the community? I might read this if I had a spare 2 hours. -
REALLY NEEDED Opening and close Door Sound Effect !
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to NINJAHITAM's topic in Suggestions
I think they should totally do this, and the door opening sound should be a voice you can hear for miles saying "DOOR SOUND" It would make me laugh to hear door's open and close all over the map :) -
Actually, I would think that rifles would be far more common in a region like Chernarus. I grew up in the country and most people I knew had at _least_ 1 hunting rifle and 1 shotgun, whereas very few people had handguns. Now that I'm older, I own 3 handguns and no rifles... but that's because I don't live in the country any more and my weapons are for protection, not hunting.

That just seems a little homophobic to me. :D

What do you think the new zombie AI will be like?
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to Agilov's topic in Suggestions
Do you happen to have a reference to the conversation where he stated this? I couldn't find anything close to this from him directly. -
What do you think the new zombie AI will be like?
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to Agilov's topic in Suggestions
Don't get my cynicism wrong -- I completely agree that zombies should be headshots only and it would really make my day if the most realistic zombie survival game around would go for... you know... realism. However, until they change the zeds to headshots only, I will forever think of them as infected people, like in 28 days later. I guess I should stop calling them teh Z word until this happens.... -
I really want to see towns teeming with zombies, but I'll tell you that one time I ran through a town and aggro'd 8 zombies... it was a rather disturbing experience. I really hope that they first fix the strange behavior of the zeds -- then I hope they add dozens, if not hundreds of zombies to towns and at least small hordes randomly roaming the countryside.

By the way, I love the idea of underground areas. Here's a couple threads on that topic (found by searching for 'underground'). Natural caves and underground bunkers. Another cave suggestion thread.

Allow me to welcome you to the forums -- I have some suggestions for how to better format your post so you can get more responses: 1. Use informative subject lines. Make sure the subject of your post contains information regarding what suggestion you are trying to make... "DayZ SA Suggestions" is so general that it will not draw any attention. 2. Stick to one topic per post. It will make it easier for people to comment on how they feel about that suggestion. 3. _Search_ before posting. I know the search engine on this forum isn't that great, but try at least searching for a few keywords for your suggestion before you post. Most of the stuff you mentioned here already has multiple threads on it -- maybe you could add to one of those or see why people do or don't like the idea already and you can improve upon your original idea. 4. Format your post. If you must make a long post, try to add some color and formatting to it. Posting a giant block of gray text is guaranteed to generate a trail of tl;dr responses, if any at all. -- I hope some of these are helpful to you - happy posting.

I want to use a chair and pitchfork combo to kill zeds. Chair to hold them out of melee range, pitchfork to skewer the brain from range.

I can't seem to find it right now, but I could swear there was a great post about this just a few days ago. Someone recommended importing the arma 3 shooting positions and included pictures and everything. Man does the search on this site blow.

What do you think the new zombie AI will be like?
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to Agilov's topic in Suggestions
I commend your ability to ignore reality and believe what you want regardless of evidence. I wish I could do the same. -
If we had a forum mod who had some time on his/her hands and decided to organize this section up a bit I think it would be pretty awesome. Some ideas for subsections of 'suggestions' could be: - Rules and Regulations -- such as no shooting zones, player death timers, kos controls, etc. - User interface -- such as interacting with objects/people, smell indicators, injury direction indicators etc. - Sounds - Environment -- such as destructible environments, building ideas, etc - Weapons - Crafting -- such as 'raccoon skin + sewing kit = awesome hat' - Other It just seems like there's some pretty well defined but separate sections to 'Suggestions' and it would benefit the community to have this cut up a little bit. It might also help with reducing repeat posting considering people would at least have to go to a particular section to post their suggestions, and they might see a similar topic in that area. I for one have trouble finding things with the 'search' function fairly often and would find some more organization helpful. ... why do I get the feeling that this is going straight to the graveyard lol.

[Suggestion] Improved suggestions area
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to Rigor Mortis (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Sorry for the double post -- but I couldn't go to sleep thinking my ideas were completely unclear, so I threw together a fast paint version so you can see at least kind of what I was thinking. I'd be embarrassed at the crap quality, but I'm too tired for that. :) I think one of the best parts of this setup would be for admins -- you could easily drag and drop threads to reorganize things without having to click all over the place and reload things. -
[Suggestion] Improved suggestions area
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to Rigor Mortis (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I had a half-baked idea of a tree similar to what you see on the left in windows explorer -- you'd be able to have different categories, then you could expand those to see subcategories. Clicking on a category would bring up a list of threads in a viewing pane... I'm sure I could flesh the idea out more if I spent some time at it (in my head it's really cool lol), but I kind of dropped the idea b/c I thought it would be a lot of work to implement and I don't have the time to donate to do it myself. I'm a senior in electrical engineering, and on top of my heavy course load I work in robotics research and have plenty of programming to keep me busy until I graduate. -
[Suggestion] Improved suggestions area
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to Rigor Mortis (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I can understand that. I was actually thinking about suggesting a totally different layout for the website, but that would require a shit ton of work for something that the devs probably don't even care about. -
Golf Bag Backpack/More gun carrying
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to CloaknDagger's topic in Suggestions
Besides the lack of a golf course in Chernarus, I like it. Wait... I just came up with a new suggestion :D
