Off topic: I can only imagine the cops reaction to this -- Cops: "Sir, you can't do that." Man: "Sure I can, what law says I can't." Cops: "..." --> one year later 10 new stupid laws are on the books. Back to the topic... I think this could be awesome for DayZ. Maybe not pallets, but I'm sure we could find all kinds of junk to make similar scooters out of.

Yes to all :D

I get your argument without the examples... it doesn't change the fact that you want to limit people's gameplay choices by leaving out a neat, easy to add, and realistic feature. As far as I understand, the whole point of this game is to give tons of freedom to players in a realistic world and see what they do with it. There are threads and threads and threads about limiting in game freedoms to appease some squeamish individuals if you want to read them... I'm done arguing about it.

I just hope they don't make it like left for dead: melee push back 40 zombies, kill everything in one hit with bat that never breaks.
-
I really hope this is their plan for duct tape... I want to attach random things to random other things... Just to name a few: Motorcycle helmet to tree Machete to end of a shotgun like a ridiculous bayonet Shoes to telephone line... guess you don't need duct tape for that one :D
-
By that logic they should take away the chat in game and only allow people to make beeps. I know people might do stupid stuff with it, but that's their choice....
-
There is a valid argument for starting most pistols with a mag in them (as previously discussed in this thread) - some people are just elitist and want to keep the game as hard as possible regardless of realism... probably so they can keep killing bambis in Berezino

I think crafting should the the only way to make a ghillie suit, and they should make them match the terrain you used to craft them -- ie if you used green foliage to craft your suit, it will be green. This way you can match your suit to your surroundings.

Holding up the scope to look through it would be good to have as part of the game for the reason orlok mentioned. Something else I'd like to see is the ability to use duct tape to attach a sight to weapons they weren't made for so that you can look through easily. I know this would provide trash for accuracy, and every shot would change the orientation of the scope a bit (especially bad for long range scopes), but it would entertain me regardless.

I don't think this is the way to go. Instead of splitting people into different 'risk of hackers' servers, how about you flag accounts that are suspicious like the ones you described. If the people on them are normal players, they probably won't get reported for hacking. If they are hackers and they get reported, they will get bans faster than accounts that are not flagged as suspicious.

Trust me, you can do voice on these systems... I designed and installed them all over the world. Yes, echo is a problem so people have to speak slowly -- and yes, usually when they test them they only output a tone, but almost all the mass alert systems out there can produce voice.

The problem with 'letting players do it' is that people don't want to be shopkeepers or guards... I mean, who the hell goes into a game to sit in one place and offer goods or services? I know they have said they don't want to do NPCs, but I like this idea anyways. I could see a "safe zone" being useful, but not as it was described here. You should be allowed to do whatever you want inside, but there would/could be consequences. What would make the "safe zone" safe would be: 1) Many armed guards who shoot, disarm, or arrest anyone who pulls out a weapon (within their view anyways). 2) Walls around the whole town to keep zeds out and protect from snipers (the game would just not spawn zeds inside this particular town, but the fences would be there for aesthetics and to control entry) 3) Several controlled entrances/exits to the town so people can come in from a few directions, at least one going into some woods for cover. Also a fairly tall building so people could counter-snipe if necessary. 4) A 'jail' for those who break the rules within the 'safe zone' -- killing a person or NPC inside the town and getting caught by the guards would result in losing all your gear and getting dumped outside the walls. I know this will totally never happen, but I think it would be pretty nifty to see and is something that would likely exist in a post-apocalyptic world... heck, I'd probably be the guy to organize a town like this. Somewhere that you can meet up with people, go to a bar with no real concerns of getting shot... interact with other players, group up, trade for gear (I found 5 pistols but I just need 1 morphine auto injector :\ etc), and possibly even see a doctor or get other services like a heli drop somewhere on the other side of the map.

Sometimes I wonder if they're trying to make us hate this game lol.

Mass alert systems are common worldwide, although the styles are different all over. You could make them powered by a hand crank system so you could crank for say 30 seconds and then you could broadcast a 10 second message or something. That way there's some minor complexity, but you don't have to get a ton of gear to announce that you are the King of Berezino :D

I actually got banned from a CSS server once for using the name "Rigor Mortis" and the admin gave the reason of 'sexually explicit name' ....
-
I mean, if you want realism, you're going to need to ask people for their names anyways.

All I can think about is how this would be a great delivery service for bandits. An example? Quest: Bring 100 rounds of mosin ammo to location x Reward: 'Rare and good items' (use your imagination) Player finds 100 rounds of mosin ammo, returns to location x and drops the ammo, retrieves their 'Rare and good items,' then sees this familiar screen: You are unconscious. Followed swiftly by: You are dead.

It should only be in Russian when the zombies are using it :P

Change stance while drinking / eating and similar anims
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) replied to Yuval's topic in Suggestions
It's not a hard thing for them to implement and it's a good idea... don't see any problem with it. -
Yes to both. I really, really hope they improve the zombies a vast amount... and then add tons of them... and I just love the idea of being able to change hair styles to add more personality to your character. I expect to see some Mad Max style apocalypto-punk stuff :D
-
I like that you included a suggestion as to the viewing quality, but that's not exactly what Suggestions is for lol.

Perhaps server admins can just open a forum for their particular server where ppl can post quests/rewards/clan recruitment etc and we can have the website be part of the MOTD.
-
This is a unique take on quests -- it plays along with the sandbox style of the game by allowing players to setup their own quests/rewards systems. There are a number of problems that would have to be worked out... for example, what exactly would a quest entail? If I wanted to get someone to, for example, help someone with a broken leg to 'make the world better' and the reward was a rare piece of gear, what's to stop someone from breaking their friend's leg and fixing it just to get the gear? I think the quest board would become a location for snipers only. If something like this were to be implemented, I think it would have to be a server-wide board that you could post to... but really for this type of game I'd rather see something like radio towers or giant voice stacks implemented. There have been many posts on the radio idea... but I think I'll make one for giant voice to see what ppl think.

That's possible... but every pistol everywhere? That's why I'm saying that _most_ should come with a mag, but they could still spawn some without.

Maybe they could make that a useful property of beds? You get shot/broken/bloody/whatever. In order to heal up you need to do the usual medical stuff (bandage etc), eat something, and get into a bed for a minute or so.
