    we need more distinctive characters!

You guys know that the devs have stated on multiple occasions that they have no interest in fixing most issues during the alpha, right? The devs said they want to add a ton of _content_ and then go back and fix problems with their content because there's no point in fixing one thing perfectly, then adding a bunch of junk that might just break it again. +1 to hair styles and character customization

Human versus human/Human versus zombie combat

I stopped reading here because of how ridiculous this statement is. "I'm cool guys, I only took 1 bullet to the chest." I could go on a 2 page rant about this, but I'm sick and don't feel like it today.

    Fire arrow

Note also that it requires a loose bow or a softer pull to fire flaming arrows -- otherwise they go out. I would love to see these in game, especially if they added the ability to light things on fire. I imagine drawing something on the ground in gasoline then firing an arrow to ignite the trail... could be hours of night-game entertainment right there :D

    we need more distinctive characters!

Dean talked about adding arm bands and other identifying methods to the game... sadly we just have to wait. I'd love to see selectable hair styles/growing hair in game though. I believe there was a thread on that recently... but I'm too lazy right now to go hunt it down.

    make gunshots louder?

Personally I've found that hand guns will always mess with my ears while rifles and assault rifles almost never bother me. I was fortunate enough to never have to fire a weapon in combat, but I had heard about this happening to people -- perhaps they should add some form of 'adrenaline' mode to players so when they enter combat they gain a few benefits like infinite/faster sprinting, steadier aim, ear protection from gunshots etc. The only problem would be figuring out when to implement this... would the guy who was trying to snipe a group of 4 armed men get an adrenaline rush before his first shot, etc.

    Zombie knock-downs

I would be ok if this happened sometimes -- I really would like it if they came up with some kind of grappling system.

    make gunshots louder?

Completely agree -- I also suggested recently to add ringing of the ears for firing weapons without ear protection which was much better accepted than I thought it would be.

consider an overhaul of "Hardcore" and "Regular" servers

It would be nice to have the devs keep a set of servers running themselves with standardized names and very high end equipment and call those 'official' servers. I don't know if they can control how other people name their servers, but it seems that it's up to the admins of those servers as to how they are named and what they run exactly.

    Decent System for Melee battles

I would absolutely love to see an improved melee system. I would also like to see some form of grappling/martial arts system... but I also believe these are all pipe dreams.

    ability to filter salt water

I'd be ok with having those systems so long as it took a while to purify the water and they were incredibly rare (I mean, have you ever seen one? Has anyone on here ever seen one?). They should also add the ability to craft a still and make purified water that way -- including solar stills. It seems like a lot of trouble to get water though... especially considering you can get canteens and water bottles all over the place and fill them in any town or stream.

Why not random spawn on joining next server?

As I've mentioned in another, very suspiciously similar thread, if you imagine that each server is a parallel universe and your character has the magic power to change instantly between these worlds (by sitting on the ground for 30 seconds) then you will have far fewer issues with ghosting and the like.

    Craftable armor

Well said. I do enjoy these arguments when they produce interesting facts :) As for the game, I think they need to figure out a weight/stamina system before craftable armor... otherwise people will be sprinting 40 miles wearing 200 lbs of steel strapped to every inch of their body that they can find.

technology to scan a face's for a unique character

Object recognition (ie facial recognition) is an _incredibly_ complex part of computer science... although there _are_ programs out there that can pick a face out of a picture, they are far from 100% accurate or reliable. No one would be shot or arrested solely on a computer's interpretation of a picture. In a video game, the only real method to do something like this and avoid troll faces is to have a _person_ take a look at every custom face and approve it manually... and I seriously doubt anyone would want to pay for that feature. Perhaps they could add this with a small fee attached and see if anyone bites. I'd be willing to pay a buck or two to get my face on my character.

animated ragdoll system-red dead redemption style

Reference please? I can't imagine a person absorbing _all_ (or even a large percentage) of the energy of a .50 round... especially considering it will go through them like a bb through paper. The shotgun they might absorb all of the energy from, but then I've never been knocked down from firing a shotgun, even while standing/moving (or even knocked back significantly...). Can you give me a reference to the experiment run where 9 out of 10 times a shooter was prepared for the force and the target was not? Or are you just making this up? That's utterly ridiculous, since the point of referencing a source is to use their work to backup a statement you are making. For example, I can say that electricity can kill people according to this article, but I need not give you all the details of their report since I referenced it. If you care to prove that my statement is true, you must go to the reference first. Wait, didn't you just say that shotguns would knock someone down... but then immediately after you say that the mythbusters tested this with shotguns... so what you're telling me is that you really, really don't know what you're talking about? kk.

    Realistic doors.

There were a lot of great door related suggestions in this thread. As for doors stopping zeds... this is one of those things that I have to assume the dev team is already planning to fix... I mean, do you really think they'll keep letting zombies walk through doors in the final version? The other ideas are decent. I hope there's loads of destructible content in the final version, including doors.

Food Aspect - Surviving with Energy

I definitely read everything, and I'm afraid that you're missing the point. It really comes down to whether we think the characters should be 'living' in the game while we are away. The answer is a resounding 'no' from the community... as an example: we don't want our characters to be laying on the ground unconscious while we are away from the game because we have no way of controlling their responses to situations then. The same holds true for this suggested mechanic -- if I go on vacation for 2 weeks then my character will no longer have any of the perishable supplies that I have carefully collected and organized -- and you're telling me that someone who carries no supplies at all will be perfectly fine leaving their character for a year, but I will lose all of my supplies every week if I only play Fridays for 1 or 2 hours? No, no thankyou, and fuck no.

Do you want to see persistant storage disapear with player death ?

The whole point of death in the game is to make you start over from scratch - not to randomly relocate you so you have to find your way back to your gear.

Do you want to see persistant storage disapear with player death ?

I always enjoy it when people feel the need to point out that this is an alpha and there are still bugs... then someone has to point out that this is the suggestions forum for the finished game... so many obvious things that people apparently have trouble remembering.
  19. Rigor Mortis (DayZ)

Food Aspect - Surviving with Energy

I don't really like the idea b/c not everyone can play every day... it's basically punishing a particular play style which is against the core ideals of the game devs.
  20. Rigor Mortis (DayZ)

    Damage Indicator

Yes to getting a better damage indication system, but along with that should be an improved medical system... see the other dozen threads for more on that.
  21. Rigor Mortis (DayZ)

    Claymores/IED's/Mines

Finding real explosives should be rare military spawns (like 155 shells), but I think they should be in the game. Who cares if it's a douche thing to add? The goal is for realistic and fun, not to clear out all the trolls.

Do you want to see persistant storage disapear with player death ?

I think the issue currently is with memory constraints - but ignoring the software side, I would like to see _all_ items be persistent. It would be awesome if I could go into a town and drop some gear into a cabinet in a random house, then come back for them later if I need to. Personally, I hate the idea of leaving gear for your reincarnation... doesn't make sense at all that a person would crawl onto a beach and know instinctively where to find a dead guy's cache of gear -- but then having gear disappear for no reason makes no sense as well. Perhaps the solution should be to link gear dropped by a person to that life. If they come back in a subsequent life, they won't be able to grab or use the gear - ever, but others could.

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!

When I first started reading this thread I couldn't help but think, "what kind of lazy fuck can't press a key on their keyboard to make their character run a marathon?" Then I realized that it makes sense considering that we're paying someone to replicate the real woods for us so we don't have to go out camping ourselves. WALL·E here we come!
  24. Rigor Mortis (DayZ)

The Curse of Green Mountain SUGGESTIONS!

A little off topic, but it would be awesome to make a random section of woods trap someone by looping on itself, then it could lead them to an old house and...wait, that's the plot from blair witch.

Seeing bullet counts in character/bag screen

If you keep your gear organized, it's very easy to count your ammo... if you don't, then you shouldn't have an easy way to count it. I think it's pretty realistic the way it is.
