  1. Why not? You can't spam it, because you need to find a weapon first. Very often I found myself in a situation where I didn't want zombies to get me, and out of desperation I had this urge to pull the trigger and blow my character's brains out so at least I don't feel that zombies got me, but you cannot do it. :) In fact not having a respawn option anymore (at least after recent update it's greyed out all the time so I guess it was removed) is a little problematic, and I don't feel like running into a bunch of zombies to die (for whatever reason) is a way this game was meant to be played. Plus there are situations where you can run away so far on the map, that even zombies don't spawn there and you end up dying of hunger, which sucks. I had this situation once, but due to divine intervention I managed to get back to civilization and get some food off a random zombie. Still it wasn't fun realizing that you ran off to map limits and you can't find any food or water just because map ends there. And this mechanic would add a whole new layer of confusion in pvp, when somebody behind cover knows that he's not gonna make it and decides to take the easy way out, while the guy shooting at him doesn't know what's going on and if he's alive or not in there. (the message of the player's death might spoil it, but still I guess it could be fixed somehow) So what do you guys think about this idea?
  2. Oh well, I guess I see where you guys are coming from when saying it is a controversial idea and might get developers in trouble. As for fending off zombies, really, there are some game breaking mechanics when you'd rather shoot yourself, than continue playing. Like you broke your legs far away from a city due to a bug or zombies (and you have no morphine). Or ran away too far in map and dying of hunger, as I've mentioned before. I had to crawl for 2 hours with broken legs to Chernarus once because of that... Without auto run option I had to stick a toothpick into a W key and went afk, periodically coming back. My suggestion is a fun way of getting the respawn button back, without people exploiting it. I suppose if we cannot have a fancy suicide animation, could we alteast have a respawn button back into game if we have at least 1 gun with 1 bullet?
  3. Hi guys! I've been playing a character for quite awhile back in version 1.7.2.4, had a a lot of gear and tools, survived being almost dead 2 times, and have been extra cearful. I've been getting graphical glitches so I decided to see if there's an update - and there was a new version 1.7.2.5 so I updated. Then I join this server (thankfully I favorited it) - DayZ - DE 1437 (v1.7.2.5/Beta 95883) [REGULAR][GMT]. IP: 85.114.153.98:10400 (joined it like 20 mins ago). After joining I got a message about me waiting for respawn and in the chat it said that I got killed. In a few seconds I respawn in some weird plains without any trees or houses. I've tried logging into other servers after that and it seems that my character is alive but all stuff is gone. Also I'm back on the shore, and hunger meter is the same as it was I logged back on version 1.7.2.4 I feel like it was an admin or some hacker who did this, but I'm not sure... Is there any way I can get my stuff back? I really liked my character and was working so hard to keep him alive... :( Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/9xwCL.jpg
  4. Well, I guess your signature goes without saying... Wow this is lame... The only times I got actually killed and lost my stuff was only due to bug. I got killed for proning on a catwalk, I had my backpack disappear 3 times on me, fell from roofs because of graphical artifacts... I'm not whining, but this is really discouraging. No matter how hard you try to stay alive and avoid all hazards - you're still going to fail. I guess I'll take a little break from DayZ.
  5. Same problem here. Not server hopping, but having a hard time picking a server when I try to play. Usually it takes ages to load on some servers (so I alt+f4) or when I log in to the correct timezone server and there is night for no reason, or I'm getting low fps, also for no reason... So before I used to spend 30 minutes at best trying to find a fitting server to play in and now I just get teleported back to the shore...=\ I'm being scared s***less of getting sniped by some random person I try to stay away from shores, but now I'm even scared to try and log in to servers because there's a huge chance that I get teleported to the shore. And while I see how this is a reasonable way of preventing people from "server hopping", it is extremely stupid to add it on alpha stage when the game has so many bugs and hackers.
