(SA) Remove military loot from the coast

I just wanted to suggest exactly the same thing... I will just post my opinion to this topic here, ofc dont want to create a new thread: Nerf Balota hard -> Balota has 3 military buildings, 2 hangars, 3 barracks and a whole military camp... and its on the coast... and its even a spawn for new players... Its just overpowerd because newly spawned players can gear up so fast. Ive seen videos where ppl are fully equipped with totaly modded M4, military clothes backpack and vest, big backpack, food and drinks... and they got all that stuff from looting balota like 2 or 3 times. If this is possible on the coast, who would go to the north then?? Distribute loot better -> I think at the coast there should be almost no military loot but a good amount of melee and some civilian shooting weapons and also about the amount of food and drinks the newly spawned players need to survive. If you go further north there should be more and better military and maybe even civilian loot (when vehicles are in for example a much higher chance for car-repair stuff) but less food and drinks. All this should in-/decrease more when you go further north so you have to get your stuff not only from looting but also from what nature gives you. Summary: Coast only simple loot (because big civilian cities), further north less civilian (mostly small villages) but more and better military (military bases, airstrips) Beans for thread! :beans: -

Im very sure this wont work, the terrain high gets defined by the image file and most likley smoothed after. One pixel is about 1-2 meters I think so your holes would just be 2m² ugly lowerings that look more like a terrain bug than a real hole. -
As far as I rememberd Dean said stuff about they want melee to play a bigger role in the SA. I guess the most of us want that too, I do at least. And then it happened and I played some Mount&Blade multiplayer (which I usualy NEVER do). When getting killed time by time because I suck i realised that this game has a pretty awesome melee system. Because a bunch of guys out there might not know what the M&B combat is like I gonna explain it a little: Guy attacks from the right (players view). He will soon hit you somewhere on the right side of your body. Aaand you are hit. :< But as we all know there is timetravel in DayZ, so lets get back some seconds. Just before this guy hits you, you raise your weapon to block is attack! Now you bash that guys head with your awesome nailed stick. :) Looks pretty simple, but the important thing is your mouse movment... Moving your mouse upwards while holding right mousebutton will block every attack that comes from above. Moving your mouse to the right while holding right mousebutton will block every attack coming to your right side. Same with the attacking: moving mouse up while holding left mouse button will attack from above. Moving mouse right while holding left mouse button will make the player attack from the right. Obviously there are 4 sides to attack/block: top, bottom, left, right and obviously you need to place your block at the right side to keep the other guy from hitting you. An attack from the bottom would usualy be like a stab or something. Maybe you could add some "effects" to the different attackmoves for different weapons: Blut to head from above has a higher chance to knock out (an already hurt ofc) player than from other directions. Slice weapons used from bottom (stab) could have like a chance to make you bleed more or something. (maybe hurt some organs but that would be 2 much for DayZ i guess) If there will be some spear-like weapon they you could make the stab attack as slice and attacks from other directions a blut attack. Guess that are enough examples... :) Few other little things: - blocking could decrease the durability of the weapon - you might not be able to block every attack with every weapon (machete vs pool stick for example) - I would like if you dont attack instantly, but charge the attack with left mousebutton and attack when stop pulling mousebutton down (better timing for your attacks) Im not sure if a melee system like this would work with engine and stuff, but I can say that it works realy well in M&B and it would make a melee fight thrilling and you would need skill to win in a 1v1 fight (not just the better weapon). I'm not sure what kind of DayZ you play, but in my DayZ I dont just click W and sit back because I allways look around for other players or anything. Prove me wrong, but I bet you are one of these guys that play either some Epoch/Origins -whatever Mod or you play on one of this "self BB" "auto-refuel" "repair-stations" "1000 choppers" "∞ vehicles" -Servers, because I cant imagine anyone would just click this automove button and sit back to run into the next bandit, when they have to fear about their character (what happens mostly only in normal DayZ). Because when you dont even have to pull down this button you totaly lose focus on your game/character.

Are the weapons only blocked by environment or is there also the option (planned?) to block an attack? I just hope that melee fights will be more than left mouse button you know... Like in RL you dont just keep smashing that guy no matter if he hits you with the baseball bat in the face or tries to slice your head in 2 piece with a machete.

I was talking about the Standalone and as far as I remember they wanted to work on the melee stuff (didnt he say something like that in the stream??)

Blood and hunger..? Well blood and hunger is completly different from humanity because hunger= starvation (dead), no blood= dead... humanity= shows how you play DayZ and gives a benifit to new spawned heros and a disadvantage to new spawned banits because everyone knows instantly whats your way to play DayZ. And THATS the point of the humanity system in DayZ. So.. yea your idea would pretty much make humanity needless.

A perk because we get loot when we kill you?? Well you got all that loot by killing others, thats the point of being a bandit. You dont need a perk in addition. It would make KoS even more common than it is right now. -
Let me write my crap here too: The thing with the trading posts in Epoch that makes them "anti-DayZ" is the fact that DayZ was meant to make the Players do all the things in the game by themselves. You want a trading post? Get some guys up, bring stuff there, get some guards and freakin make your trading post if you want one!! And if you want a "safe-zone" then get some snipers around Cherno, some that secure the city. I acctualy saw exactly that on a server, about 6 guys took over Cherno telling people that they need to get a "visum" at the school/office when they want to loot in the city. Adding all this stuff makes DayZ feel like Skyrim or whatever as Frytek said. So much for that

Should Painkillers/Antibiotics Have Use Count ?

I like the idea. There should also be boxes of painkillers with only a few inside and you should be able to combine painkillers like when you have 2 boxes with 4 painkillers in each you can make 1 box with 8 painkillers. -

@this fools that say that DayZ will be pure PvP for ever, you have no idea... just because you shoot at everyone and ofc find no friendly people because they are allways dead when you are next to them that doesent mean that everyone plays like that. I just met 2 friendlys today, we teamed up and played for some hours, found other players that didnt shot us (well, we were 4 so it wouldve been silly to do so but anyway) and that wasnt the first time that something like this happened to me. And harder PvE would make it harder to PvP ofc... you just need some brain to get that. You know, shooting someone -> lesser bullets, Zombies, mabye take injuries = death. Not shooting, mabye team up, healing each other, share loot = life, yey -

Fire+Zombs? Kind of dangerous :D ... throw a molotov somewhere, zombs run trough it and catch fire. They got clothings on, they burn pretty good I guess. But they dont feel pain, and a body needs some time to burn completly. So you got some burning zombies running towards you. If you are unlucky and a zomb gets next to you and mabye hits you, you will catch fire ureself. I like this idea!! :D
