SUGGESTION LIST - WORK IN PROGRESS

You should only be able to damage items on the ground if you shoot it with a gun. They shouldnt get damaged with melee weapons because else we would most likley find 80% ruined gear. Btw, Dean already said he wants the players to be able to interact with items not only in their inventory but also when they are on the ground (like putting the pot on the camping cooker, as an ingame example). This would also include the ability to damage items on the ground, gas cartridges would for example have a little explosion (or whatever you want to call it) when shot at.

    Low Tier Military/Civilian Security

There should be more low tier military buildings that replace the barracks and camps everywhere. In this security buildings you would find mostly pistols, light bulletproof vests and rarely SMGs. Of course also things like weapon attachments and holsters but no high tier military weapons/gear (for now that would only be the M4 and most of the military clothing). Security buildings are for example: Police stations, security at airports, gatehouses at bigger facilities Those buildings should replace for example Balota airport, which should be reworked into a civilian airport in my opinion. Police stations would obviously appear in bigger cities like Cherno and Berenzino. Having only low tier military loot at some locations would prevent people from getting geared up too fast (just look at balota) and would create some balance. You still got a higher chance to find a weapon in this buildings than by searching regular houses but if you want high tier stuff you need to go to the military only areas (where PvP is even more common).

    Some ideas

I dont think anyone in Chernarus uses shopping carts. ;) The shops are like 10x10 meters.
  4. doublebrain

    NPCs survivors

Problem with NPCs: they look like humans, they are supposed to be humans, they dont act like humans.
  5. doublebrain

    Mobility

But noone ever said anything about spawning with friends.
  6. doublebrain

    Sewers

Womens should get their period and they would need to search for tampons there and squeeze them so they can use them again. Maybe you could forcefeed people your used tampons.
  7. doublebrain

    Stone Walls

DayZ takes place more like 10 years after "it" started. Some walls would most likley collapse in this time because of wind or plants/nature.

    Sewers

Mhm, the point that you dont just need light at nighttime sounds like a nice thing to me. And I dont think all sewers are that small actualy. I guess especially older ones were built like tunnels and a man could walk in it almost upstanding. This way it was easier to fix stuff and it was almost immpossible to built real sewers without humans being able to actualy dig them like I said like a tunnel.

    Labeling Boxes

I see medic boxes turning into nazi memorials
  10. doublebrain

    Labeling Boxes

Writing on it is better than just show a list of items in the container because use of pen, realism, adds a little of atmosphere. Have my beans!

    -=BEARDS=-

Ofc woman should also grow beards.

    Item idea: Belts

That would be even more awesome. It would be just like the weapon attachments so the basics for these belts are in the game already. This idea should be beaned till it gets approved! :D :beans: :beans:

    Name of the game: Survival.

Well the count could get a reset after Beta/Final release so you can keep searching for bugs without being doomed with your buggy alpha survival times. ;)
  14. The future "feature" of doors making sound would be the first step towards loot=noice. :) And I support the idea of more sounds to everything, Dean alreay said he wants much and many more sounds because the sound is one very important thing for atmosphere and affects gameplay quite much.

    Name of the game: Survival.

People suggested adding a kill count to DayZ, but this is what I want to see. ;) Survival, not Shooter! :) :beans:
  16. This might sound a little stupid and Im not sure right now if it actualy is stupid. But since DayZ turned from a mod to a buyable game and many new players joined the cummunity there is much more activity in the forums. But thats not only something positive because for example this suggestion thread is flooded with 1. already confirmed suggestions 2. already disapproved suggestions and 3. many, many reposts. Maybe there would be less of these when before posting a suggestion the search function would pop up and you needed to do at least 2 searches with keywords. Also your headline could be checked and you would get a warning if one/ multiple words match with another headline in this forum. I dont know if I am the only one but sometimes I almost get angry when I see one of the "NPCs in Dayz!!" post for the 100 time. All this needless threads makes it harded to find the real good and original suggestions. If not a system, then at least the request to use the search function and do research on your idea before you could write a suggestions would be great too.

[Forum suggestion] Force to use search function

Then I suggest to improve the search funtion. :D Well ofc only if the admins got time for that.

Saloon, Public bar, Meeting place, etc

The idea is great, but as people said it should be player made. Anyway the devs could promote this stuff by adding content that would make it more easy or lets say "accessible". Little example: when people had to hand their weapons over before entering the building they want to be sure they get their stuff back when they exit. You could stick a note to a container with a number on it and give the guy who dropped his weapon a note with the same number. Maybe even some kind of signing so people cant fake the notes. But allways stay to the roots: players make DayZ.

    Item idea: Belts

I dont think belts should actualy act like a normal container but it should be like a holster where you can only put particular items. Some examples: Police Belt- Can hold one pistol/revolver Tactical Belt- Can hold 2 small mags (pistol mags, 20rnd Stanag) Toolbelt- Can hold 3 small tools (screwdriver, wrench; would ofc only be usefull when these tools get a use in game) Sniper Belt- Can hold one scope which can be bound to a hotkey/the keybar for a fast switch of 2 scopes (an empty belt would just remove the scope) Medic Belt- Can hold 2 medical items And so on. This wouldnt make the belt just another normal clothing and it would promote roles for clans/teams.

    Holsters

If you put a gun in a holster you see it, yes.
  21. doublebrain

How to make the map more engaging.

Yes to civiloan airports. Ofc they should fit into Chernarus. No big terminal building or something. Maybe a bunch of buldings next to it like a motel, a small terminal and next to it a service building or something like that, maybe with a security room where you could find pistols and light bulletproof vests. It would still make the airport something special with a little better loot than the stuff you would find in regular houses. But it would not make it the OP loot area it is right now.
  22. I like the idea where you spawn near your logout position but somewhere outside of all towns and points of interest more than this one. It is a much better protection against server hopping and ghosting and I think problems like spawning in trees or whatever can se solved.

    Man vs. Environment

DayZ takes place years after the apocalypse started. Most of the toxic stuff wouldnt harm anybody anymore as there are no big nukes in Chernarus or something like that. Well, so much for the realism aspect at least.
  24. doublebrain

So, how about crossbows, and bows?!

Ive built bows with fishing line, a plastic pipe and a good amount of duct tape and the arrow went into a tree for almost 2cm. Some more effort and maybe better material and you can get a pretty decent bow without being a talented in crafting stuff.

    Man vs. Environment

PvE is good, but Im not sure about areas where you need special gear to stay alive... It kind of doesent fit into DayZ imo. And forest fires sound like a total performance killer. At least to make them quite realistic you would need to do a lot of stuff. Then there are the questions: what would cause a fire? Does the fire have a real use in the game? I dont think adding random forest fires without good reasons is worth the effort.
