YES We are going to have a chance to hide from infected in 1.7.1. Let's get rid of that russian stapler and make it lootaple item (with less ammo too). It's a player choice to run inland or stay and search coastal towns. (sorry, more than 20 words) -

It's the very opposite. Removing bandit skin was the right thing to do. There are so many things in this mod that people are discussing/complaining/whining so it could be more "realistic" or whatnot. If I were a bandit in this mod - not to mention in a real life SHTF scenario - I would do everything to cover my true intentions. Wearing something that reveals who I am would end my shit smelling miserable post apocalyptic life sooner that I prefer. Even before this skin removal patch, you couldn't trust anyone out there. I was been shot by survivals for the whole time. Solution is to put up beta patch (for working direct communication) and find people to survive with. Ugly things have happened but generally we try to maintain our real humanity even if the game would've mark us as bandits. That's what I've been doing few days now, I found my people and it makes everything in that shitty world of dayz (and worth of playing dayz). We are gregarious animals after all. -

Found one bugged also. it was a CZ beta server (1.6.0.1). Dozen or so military zeds around it and the choppers doorgun was unusable plus no loot in the aircraft. -

3rd person view takes the fun out of crawling between z's and lets you peek around corners and behind fences etc... Crosshair is just too arcadeish and the name tag is nothing but a wallhack. So all three are big no no for me. After all, this supposed to be a (the) "survival" game. -

Interface and 3D Res: 1920 x 1080 Quality references: very high text det: high video mem: very high aniso:normal AA: disabled (enabled SMAA set to medium in config ) terrain: low objects: normal Shadows: normal HDR: very high Post proc: eff. disabled interface: very small aspect ration: custom vsync: enabled Intel i5 750 4cpu 2.8GHz 8Gb ram GTX 560 ti twin frozer FPS: pretty much 50 -60 all the time I'm quite happy about my settings atm. Finally. -
I just throwed away my tent due the lack of space - and after 5 minutes of running in the woods someone tells in the chat that tents are fixed in tonights update. Hello Mr Murphy again.

Roger, that sucks Zog... I can launch dayz via steam - operation arrowhead and select combined operations launch and that works ok, but the arma launcher nor the command line doesen't work for me either. I'm about to give up too. -

Ok, I did what GromZ wrote above but coulnd't get the beta installer to put any shortcut to my desktop (btw, how long that installer should run? It just kept that moving files icon running but the text told it was installed ok?). So I went to expansion/beta folder and sended the shortcut from there to my desktop. The shortcut's targetline didn't accept this (my steam location): D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -world=empty -nosplash ...instead it said "problem with shortcut, the name D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct. So next, I tried to get it work via armaholic installer like Archu explained. I did all he said and everything seems to be ok until I try to connect one of those dayz servers - I get this message: You cannot play the following mod because it is dependent on content which has been deleted: dayz_equip, dayz_vehicles, dayz_weapons, and dayz_code. Now I have just downloaded new patch (1.5.8.3) like its previous versions without problems, so I don't understand what went wrong. Now I'm unable to play at all. So pls, someone wiser could be so nice and help me with this mess. Help truly appreciated. -

Oh, thank you, but then it won't start DayZ or am i wrong there? Sorry, but I'm kind of a noob regarding Arma 2 mods :-) Same here, it would be great if someone using steam version, could copy the text he/she has in the arma 2 oa -> properties ->startup and paste it here. I know how to make the install itself with the folder structure etc, but I cant get the patch working cos I dont know where to put what startup line. Yep, I have 7 thumbs when it comes to computers -

Well, now it happened what I was waiting - even though I told myself don't play (until firewood is available in forests). I got killed by another player. Because I had to leave wildernes and put my longtime survivor at risk. To get firewood...from a willage. This is not entertaining anymore, it's morbidly stupid and frustrating. Make firewood awailable where it should be awailable or disable this appalling feature. I don't mind dying from another players, but dying like this...geez. And yes, it's a alpha, no need to remind us. We are aware of that.

I've been playing computer games since mid 80's - that's near 30 years now! - and DayZ is #1 for me. And it's just in alpha phase. Go figure! -
When the new temperature feature with fireplaces and firewood came out, I immediately went and tried it out. First I liked it very much (server with only a dozen people=safe to go to willages), but soon it turned to be annoyance and pain in the a**. The problem is obvious and said many many times already: the spawning point of firewood. Pretty much everything else in the mod fits the frame of survival. But now I need to risk my extremely precious virtual life and stuff for what? Repeatedly enter willages and whatnot where sooner or later, someone will kill me while I pack wood in my alice. Other new features are ok, if we just could find firewood from where it actually grows. Limited number of matches also and that it would be more difficult to make a fire when its raining and sometime after the rain stopped due the ground be wet. I put myself in a hold for playing atm, not rage quitting or anything. I just don't want to risk my life with the current system and I wait if it will change in some near future. The feedback surely suggest something should be done.

Hi! First post here:)... Now after a week of trying to survive and learning new tricks - I find this temperature (fixed one) very welcomed addon to the mess we have in our hands. Now people need to find a shelter or make fires to warm up. That is essential when we talk about survival. Even though the temp seems to drop very rapidly, that what it does in reality. You really don't have to spend that long exposed to cold weather when you actually can catch a cold. And for my few hours of new gameplay showed the temp thingie worked very very well. And re-warming worked also, 5 -10 minutes next to the fire warms you up. Hiding indoors was much slower, like it would be in an abandoned house. Plus, now those bloody bandits (and survivors too) need do something else than just prone in the bushes next to some willage. There might be someone else gathering firewood too:D Still, Im not saying that the current temperature version is the one nor it doesent need tweaks, but we definately need some sort of temperature system. PS. DayZ is just amazing, no game or movie has ever gave me as much exitement and paranoia etc than this awesome mod! Thank you!
