  2. Sorry but this won't stop teleporting, instead it will kick the teleported. You're potentially giving a new weapon to the trolls: a remote kick. A script kid can kick other players out of your server, simply by teleporting em... they can teleport all the users and you'll have a empty server in half second?
  3. I'm still waiting the gotcha thing to be disabled again.. i've emailed 2 days ago... i'm not sure why you're replying here but not the emails. Please, i'm already a way pissed off coz you forced me to change the IP address and i've lost ALL the fucking users, my server went from full (50 users) to 2 users in only 24 hours.. and i'm paying for nothing. So tell me if you are unable to provide the 24H support anymore, coz i'm not used to manage with ppl that runs a business this way. Thank you.

So i have been forced to change my IP to solve the "port bug".. apart that i lost half of my userbase and my server precipitate to underground.. i've found the "gotcha spam" enabled again.. not a major issue, i've asked to disable it again. Now the worst part: apparently the fucking banlist got reset again! I have ppl that i banned long time ago (i do i know? .. i save each damn ban manually in a txt file until dayz.st provides a way to import/export them).. now i've these idiots returning to my server again. 1) Why my ban list got reset? 2) How i may solve the probem? How i can have my own banlist reimported back? 3) How far is this FTP access? Thank you.
  6. I know, and if im not wrong i did already in the past... and it looks like the "bug" happens only when your server is offline, not when it's running. Also there's no way i'm changing the IP now, i've tool based on it, the tracker and all other shit, i don't have time to change all them. Any other solution pls? Can't i change only the port remaining on the same IP/server? Thanks.

    Memory hacking in Standalone

    ^^^ Atm the number of cheaters/script kids is around 16% ... so a 33% is not realistic, even if the things getting worse. I predict it will be around 5%, since (we hope) all the script based hacks will be eliminated/reduced. They will be huge numbers anyway (considering the userbase). These are numbers simlar to any other FPS out there.. there's only one big difference: in those games the cheating/hacking issue can be accepted, in DayZ a cheater does much more damage, since the perma-death. You may spend days (or more) to collect some top gear, and loosing it because of a cheater is a very frustrating. In a traditional FPS you will respawn again, you'll change the server eventually and there you go.. it's a little annoyance. In dayz you're "fucked", and if it happens multiple time per day, it's annoying as hell. This is why the kids and the trolls loves to cheat in this game, it's because they can laugh at you after. And for this reason the "hack problem" must be the first thing to address: you may develop a fantastic game, but if there's even 1/3 of the cheaters we have now, it'll be pretty fucked up.
  8. Many ppl are reporting that when trying to connect to my server via DayZCommander, even adding the IP:PORT many times they ends to another server. What's going on?
  9. There's one problem.. gotcha is a remote tool that is (mostly) useful only when connected to the server h24. And here you have the "nonsense": you chose to run a server remotely to have it indipendent and always on, having another server h24 on (even if it's your PC) means you need to have two servers (dayz + gotcha) somewhere. More features you add to it, more the game server will be dependant of your "home" server .. and what if i need to go for a week out, or if my home pc dies.. or simply because i don't wanna pay the electric bill having my PC on during the night while i'm sleeping (considering that im already paying the dayz server rental)? We need something that is directly linked to the dayz server.. preferrable on the same machine.. and so you need to collaborate with the server host.

    Prediction (you don't need to be a wizard tho..): we won't have mass-kill, mass-teleports and anything based on script events; but we will sure have: ESP, autoaim, godmode, and anything you normally have in other FPS. There's nothing you can really do to stop "memory hacks" (ans such), other games aren't blocking them, but they provides feature (and tools) like: killcam, 3rd person view, and such .. so you would notice immediately a cheater (assuming there's an active admin aboard). Now in DayZ this would be a sensible argument: giving all this power to an admin and be sure that you will have kids to exploit the game (like abusing of it for their own advantage). Better than having mass kills anyway. If you believe there won't be cheaters aboard (i predict the first public cheats within 2 weeks from the release)... it's better you chose another game (where cheating is not possible or doesn't make sense), there will be cheaters, the only thing we can hope is that the situation doesn't run out of control like it is now.

    SH 3.3 is out (public) by Dec 29th .. and it is working (previous versions) by months. It has been down in its "life" for only 2 weeks (1.5 months ago) when BE started to scan the memory process. It is WORKING today (BE 1.86) , since sd have released the source code .. [ and i stop here to explain how to make it working coz a) i don't wanna help ppl to learn how to make an hack works; b) because you probably wouldn't understand what i will say). So, a couple of ppl are destroying hundreds dayz/arma2 servers.. and BE is unable to caught em. If you wanted to "justify" em.. well, you're doing the opposite. PS: i know perfectly how the arma2 hacks works, i keep myself constantly updated to have a (minimal) chance of fight em, at least with the tools that an admin can use (few.. unfortunately).

    I'm not the last arrived... i know what i'm doing.. and you don't need "seconds" to identify a cheater, especially when they leaves no traces in the log (bypasser). Most of the time you have to follow a specific cheaters for days until he does a mistake to know he was the son of bitch doing all that mess. And that's about a SINGLE guy.. imagine when you have to manage with tenth guys doing the same every single day. I run my own "heuristic" anti-cheat .. that is capable of finding potential cheaters even when they leave no traces.. and even with that i have to spend hours each day to admin my server, but that's not enough.. when i'm not in front on my PC, you may have someone mass-killing the whole server and you wasted hours of your life for nothing. If the same script kid can do the same shit over and over again without being banned (by BattleEye) then you know that something or someone is failing... and it's not me.

    Negative.. BE spent like 1 month to detect the last version (3.3) with the update today.. and guess what? There's already another not-detected version. Good job: 1 month to detect it; 2 hours to have it working again. It doesn't every day my server got mass-killed by guys that are doing nothing than downloading a "tool" from the web. One single second to have 50 ppl on your server leaving... so you start to ask yourself: for what are you paying, it looks like i'm paying for script kids enjoyment.

    By Months yes: UC forum... you can download it, it's free. And you can use it without risking to be banned... and even if you get banned someday, $3-5 and you're back in. What do you think an anticheat is supposed to do? Clean my arse? Yes, it should keep clean my server from cheaters, banning them.

    ..permanently? You can find a "hacked" key for 2-3$ ... and atm you can find a LEGIT key for $5 on steam (the whole Arma-X costs $5 .. including OA, if you own alredy Arma2). While you spent hours to find a kid to ban him, he's already back on your server with another key (and if you're unlucky he doesn't have a static IP..). Now he'll pay much more attention to be caught, and he will start to mass-teleport and kill ppl just to annoy you (and your server). Multiply this for thousand script kids we have aboard every day and you'll figure that you're pretty fucked. And no it's not the same for BF3: if somone exploits the game, the developers doesn't leave that huge hole opened for months, they'll FIX it... while here none seems to care about, and the only idiot comment i read around is: "close your server, make it private with white-list" .. like hiding the dust under the carpet is the way to solve the issue. Pathetic.

Namalsk is fully PVP .. it's too small to think to be payed to "survive the nature"... you simply do not have time to care about food or zeds, coz you'll be engaged into a firefight every 5 minutes, there's also no space to setup a base or whatever. Atm the only maps that can be played as the "original concept" are: Chernarus and Taviana ... especially Taviana, coz after a while you figure that even Chernarus is too small for 50+ ppl.

    Dayz Survival is working by months already.. any fucking kid is using it.. and you care about a banlist? Cmon... DayZ (oh.. well.. Arma2) is completely out of control, it's gone, and there's nothing YOU can do. I dunno what BE is doing right now, neither if they can do anything to circumvent the problem, at this point i doubt they can do anything concrete due to the nature of the game (widely open to scripting and such..). I spend more than 2 hours per day to manage with these kids, it's an INSANE amount of time, especially considered that this is not my job (of course), it's an hobby.. and the "fun" part is that I AM ACTUALLY PAYING to let others enjoy the game (i don't play DayZ by weeks...). Now BattleEye is paied to do this shit.. while i'm doing the opposite: i'm paying to "fight" a bunch of 12yo kids because BE (or Arma2) is failing to intercept a stupid "spawn a huge dick in the middle of the map" ..it's ironic... isn't it?

I'm still using mainly BattleWarden because of one feature: the colored chat ... for an admin it's very important to follow what's happening on the server reading it, and the colors gives an immediate reading of it; also i like to have the server messages and the chat into two different tabs, coz u really need separate log windows. Any chance we could have these features into dart as well?

    Will standalone get new forums?

    I hope they switch to a good server, using a better engine (vbulletin). This forum is probably the slowest forum of the ones i usually surf every day (and they have tons more users than this).
  20. Hello, no news on the FTP access? I'm wasting too much of my time with this ban list honestly.. and i don't think i would like to continue with this, if there's no FTP access at the horizon or you won't provide any other solution to import/export files i think to not have the right amount of time to follow all this shit.. it is a hobby honestly.. i cannot waste half of my life into this. I just need an EAT (like: another week.. or two..). Another think: i want to remove the "dayz.st" string on my server name, how i can do this? It doesn't mean you're a bad hosting (honestly it's the best i've found so far..), but i'm used to work with professional ppl and used to receive support within 15 minutes (yes im one of those..), i do not pretend that such thing paying $30/mo of course, but again i cannot waste my time waiting .. especially when i'm not having any return of this (in fact it's the opposite: i'm providing a server for other to play on). Thank you.

    Most of today script kids are using bypassers that doesn't leave absolutely NO TRACES in the log file (so you don't have fancy addmyshitcargo and such), and these are the most disruptive ones. The only way to catch these kids is by using a heuristic method: as the name suggest, they aren't identified by the traces of executing/using a script/cheat, but by the consequence of using that such cheat. In other words if you're statistic says that the best player of this universi is capable of having a KPM of 0.2 on that specific map, having a KPM of 2.0 on a 60 min. time frame is a good indication of having a cheater aboard. Another example: your statistic says that a user is capable of finding a tent/vehicles every 23 minutes, if someone is jumping from a tent to tent in less than 5 minutes or if he runs to a hi-grade vehicle (ie: chopper) right after the spawn, you are having a cheater aboard (ie: a ESP user). These two above are just two examples of how you can translate a logical reasoning into numbers (into a heuristic algorythm), making it "automatically" (no human intervention, if not to supervise the routine). This way you can catch most "hidden" cheaters and script kids without even a single "technical" evidence of them cheating. The downside is that your script may ban an innocent player by mistake, so you must do a review time to time ... but sometime you still ban not guilty players. This is the best way (IMO) to handle your server, but unfortunately you cannot share your banlist with other admins, because you have absolutely no evidence of cheating, so you can't pretend that others will believe your words just because you claim to have applied a logical algorythm to your banning process. And this is what i'm doing on my server. The balist sharing still works for the old-school cheaters.. but again they are a minimal part and ban them is pretty easy, the hord of script kids with bypassers are the real problem.

    I must admit i didn't know that BIS were working on native linux server.. well, this change the whole thing, first: they costs A WAY less than windows servers (to rent); second: they are widely available everywhere. This could lead to reduce the current prices even more: the verage is around $30/mo for a virtual and likely $250 for a good dedi; on a linux machine you may have $20 for a virtual and around $100 for a dedicate machine (with the hardware capable of running Arma/DayZ of course). None of the current major hosts have tried it yet?

    If you rent the exact same hardware .. it has the same cost. The hardware is not dependant by the OS (well.. it is.. but the difference is minimal on large scale). That's why i specified: "with the hardware capable of running Arma/DayZ" ... what i mean is that possibily (because of the OS and optimization) you may be able to run +50% instances on the same spec machine (or the same number of instances on less pricey hardware), and this will give you automagically a 50% price reduction. That's just an assumption coz i didn't tried it, so i dunno if there's really a difference in resource usage, but in my experience any game server i tested before (available on both linux/windows OS) was much less resources expensive on linux. To not consider the fact that process virtualization is much smoother on linux than having multiple "tasks" running under windows. I'm optimistic! :)
