Please learn first how to use the word "spam", google for it if you dunno what it means before accusing me of "spamming". Returning to the problem: i'm not asking for it because i love to manage with your damn server (it's already hard to admin a dayz server), but because your f service have already reset my banlist for 5 times (and i have many bans, most of them are script kids, and each time they gets unban they return to start again), and i wanted a f way to save my bans.txt offline so i can f import them back while your f service will reset em again. Not sure if i've used the right number of f this time to let you understand why we need the FTP access, or another althernate method to import/export the setup files. I know what's the priority for you: make money... new maps.. new server.. and forget about what makes an host better than enother. The day i've joined this server it was awesome, now you notice the lack of your service.. you're collecting customer over customers (counting on the fact that the other hostings are even worse) without having the infrastructure to cope with it. But who cares.. if i leave, you have other customers. Is this a rush up coz you know that you're going to shut down your business when SP will be out since the user mass migration? Whatever it is you're on the good way to emulate those other hosting that gave failed before you. Don't you even noticed that only a month ago we had like 1 message about an issue a dozen about how awesome the service was, while now 9 messages over 10 are about users problems? Don't you have a bell ringing into your head about something wrong? Do you really believe i'm the only one not happy today? What you mean? Competitors are offering it... but even forgiving about em, atm you cannot perform the basic operations like importing/exporting ban lists (notice: you can't do this with any remote tool, since RCON is bugged). Maybe you mean: we are implementing "easy" stuff instead of investing time into serious issues. There's ppl demanding about the FPS access by months already, i've give up about it since i've had enough to being ignored, my server is "abandoned" atm. It looks like the only the only "maintenance" that is performed nowaday by any dayz-hosting company is to buy new slots, put new servers online, new maps and collect more money from customers. Apart adding new maps (mostly it's bliss work) and expanding to new locations (to acquire more paying users) .. what else are you doing exactly? PS: you mentioned you didn't found any suitable FTP daemon for windows (there's like thousand differents); you can also host dayz under linux if you wish ... so the problem is not existant. -

If you put the logfile on the RCON (ie: if you have Gotcha enabled), the whole rcon will get delayed badly if you have a reasonable number of users. I reccomend to disable it, plus gotcha isn't going to give any concrete help nowaday in fighting the cheaters and script kids (they learned how to hide from it pretty easily). -

Very very very very bad .. not for you (and your app).. but for the game. If you place a wrong ban (and it happens), you have no way to remove it via DaRT coz the banlist won't load. -

The other games you're talking about are match based FPS, so a cheater/hacker can disrupt a single round, it causes no much trouble, coz you can change the server and start again like nothing has happened (apart the little annoyance of server switching). While DayZ has a permanent enviroment, a cheater/hacker can "destroy" days (or even weeks) of gameplay progression in one instant. This is the big difference, this is why being killed by a cheater in DayZ is 1000 times more annoying than being "hacked" in a tradizional FPS. In fact if you look at the other "perma-world" games out there (most of them are RTS/RPG's) you can notice that the cheating is taken very seriously and most often they have dedicate staff to monitor and handle the situation (something that we can only dream of...). For this reason, the cheating MUST be the issue at the top of everything or the game will fail. -

I've posted it many times already: it's broken.. to be exact is that gotcha that have totally corrupted all my banlist (it increased to like 10k bans because of multiple duplicates). Btw ... i'm giving up.. too much time wasted, i see time spent on unnecessary stuff while some important things are left out. I can't force ppl to do what i want of course.. so my Namalsk server will be turned off the next month. Good luck everyone. :) -

Hello, i'm not complaining how the bandwidth is limited.. the bandwidth is limited because the RCON hasn't been designed to pass out the logfiles, but for something else. Good luck with your project if you think it'll work. I hope with dayz SA we'll have better tools and not this workarounds. Byez. -

That's not the problem, the problem is that a mass solution via driver is not praticable. Passive cheats between are caught only when you have a prototype in your hands (something to compare to), since there's no heuristic mode to identify a "potential" cheat, there would be so many false positive that would be impossible for the anticheat determines if that's really a cheat or some other legit application/driver. In other words a cheat can get caught only when it is distributed to the mass, until it lives in the hidden it can least forever .. even the most "stupid" ones (with no obfuscation, metamorfic binary, or any other fancy protection) lives forever until you publish it. -

In the worst scenario: kernel level driver and i can read the memory anytime i want without you can't do a shit about it. Notice: READ ... (writing is something that you can control appside tho). So passive hacks, like radars, wallhacks etc. will always exists and there's nothing an anticheat (or any good programmer in the world) can do to prevent it, it's a lost war. The only viable solution is to minimize the cheating (avoiding it goes out of control like it is now in A2), eliminating it, is a unrealistic dream. -
DayZ has a "permanent" DB, there's no way to fight a script kid, for the sole reason that even if you ban 99% of them, the remaining 1% is enough to break the game for anyone with a simple mass-kill. So you (me) would loose half of your life admining your server, analyzing the DB, runs heuristic algorythms to find those cheaters (notice: that's what i do myself everyday), and you'll catch most of them, but you aren't going to solve anything, they will return with another key (it costs $2-$3) for the sole purpose of masskill your server coz you banned em 5 minutes before, and this will continue indefinitively, while in the meantime you're loosing your users, coz they get annoyed of being killed every 10 minutes by a script kid. This is the reality of DayZ today.. that's why i run my own server but i don't play the game by weeks already. PS: whitelist? Yes.. coz you really believe there's no mass kill on whitelisted servers? Lol.. you can get whitelisted and kill anyone in the server, one time is enough to piss off the whole server. It's not that you have the CIA screaning your curriculum to accept your joining request.

I'm not blaming, i'm criticizing a solution that does not work good enough, because (from the start) it has been taken the wrong approach. There's nothing Gotcha can do, because the transmitting method chosen has not been designed for this purpose. Chosing to limit the amount of information sent to the parser, means excluding certain type of controlling (less informations you send, less data you have to analyze), it's not a solution, it's just a work-around that proves the limit of this solution. To not count the fact that something running remotely is a complete waste of resource (the complete inefficiency of running a game server plus another server to handle these server? It's a "joke"). My suggestion is to invest the same amount of time and effort to develop a server-side solution, this way you can analyze all the data you want, plus you won't force the server admins to spend more money (and resource) to run something remotely. In DayZ this should never happening... since most of the "hacking" tools are capable of make something "bad" to someone else (giving him a "illegal" weapon; teleporting; whatever...), having an autoban is a very bad idea, kicking (plus active admining) is the right way. Anyway that's not the point... i were discussing the inefficiency of Gotcha using a "low bandwidth" transmitting method. -

If you filter only certain strings, you don't need gotcha at all (ie: BE can already kick for it). Btw the weapon and ammo verification is already enough (and it needs a certain level of log) to flood the RCON and delay the RCON, that's why Gotcha (and any usage of it) doesn't work good. Feel free to develop anything you want of course.. but we really need a server side solution, without using this RCON crap, that is designed for something else... IMO. -

There's no way to detect a ESP (radar). Only BE detects the public ones (analyzing the memory) time to time.. but that's only about the most used ones (ie: nav), there's thousand cheaters that uses the "private" ones.

Yup, lemme elaborate: to make goctha working (parsing the data) you need to pass (most of) the log file (it would be better to call it "debug") to the remote console (RCON), but the remote console is not designed to handle that amount of data (there's not enough bandwidth dedicate to it), and in fact after few minutes your console will be flooded and delayed (with the server running for 5 minutes you may experience 1 minute delay; with the server running ofr hours you may experience up to 10 minutes or more!), since all those log messages will be bufferized... assuming you have a fair number of users on your server. Again, i'm surprised how only few admins have realized this. -

Gotcha floods the RCON ... making it almost unusable. I'm not sure how ppl didn't realized it yet.. but maybe 99% of those "admins" installs it in the hope of having a cheater free server without em around (so they won't notice what i'm talking about...). -

I run my own business, and if i ignore my customers for more than few hour (or even days) i'll face consequences that are more serious than someone "moaning" on a forum. I'll lose customers and money, they'll fuck me off immediately. But i'm a customer here: anyone have his own role and job. When everyone is below any acceptable standard, it's pretty easy to be the "best"... but this doesn't make you "good". 24 hours is already outside of what i call "good".. anyway i can accept and understand it, 48 hours is not acceptable.. more than 48 hours is simply very very bad.. hence why i'm posting here. Again: you cannot hide behind other (bad) hosters, you should run your business good like the others doesn't exists at all. -

I can tell you when a game runs at 30.. 60.. or 100+ fps from miles of distance from the monitor. Please don't confuse the console crap (and console users brain washing) with PC .. 30 fps in a modern shooter on a *PC* with a fair hardware is NOT acceptable. -

I am "elsewhere" as well, didn't found something better than DayZ.st. I do not pretend you would have read any other message coming from me, but i've praised DayZ.st many time in this same thread. I'm not a fanboy tho, and i'm honest: when something works i say good things, when something doesn't work (or doesn't work good enough to be acceptable) i say it as well. DayZ.st isn't good and the others are bad, DayZ.st is the "less bad" of them: it looks like that providing a gaming server is something that you can do in your spare time coz the "admins" are just a bunch of moaning kids. It's not, you're running a business and you MUST run your business professionally, receiving support after 48 hours is NOT acceptable, this is internet, two days is an eternity. Most of the times i am.. some time i'm not. It's the only obvious conclusion.. im checking how the things are going by the end of next billing cycle, but yes.. it looks like im going to "cancel", coz it's far from my standard (i'm not talking about DayZ.st only.. but about anyone, since they are even worse..). PS: in the meantime my problem has been solved... "moaning" on the forum has some value.. but i would like to send a support email and being replied within hourse (working time), without being "forced" to flood a forum with my support requests. -
How safe are white list servers?

Pro: it's obvious.. less mass kills (notice: less mass kills.. it doesn't mean less cheaters.. i'll explain later). Cons: - The population is mostly static, so the mood of finding "new ppl" is someay lost .. you may end up to be "all friends" and stuff like that. There's less "thrill" in general and if ppl gets bored, they may ends up to leave the server (it's admin and supported job to keep the server populated); - There will be much more less mass-kill .. scripting.. and any other "obvious/disrupting" cheat/hack, but it doesn't mean there won't be cheaters: there will be still cheaters using "passive" cheats (like ESP and such), and they are even worse than normal cheaters, coz they are a way "smarter": they have enough brain to not make mistakes to be found by an admin (neither ad admin using spectatic view). There will be some mass-killers time to time (those ones that are dedicate enough to signup and that are using a good bypasser), admins will have an hard time to identify em and to justify why a mass-kill happened on a "white listed" server. - Be sure to chose the server that handles the guid verification the correct way: some servers are using gotcha to handle it, with RCON debug messages enabled, the RCON gets flooded pretty fast and the "join" messages are delayed, it means that a script kid can join the server, spawn and kill everyone before the script can kick him. -

You should quote the whole phrase: you should hire new stuff.. *AND* if you're unable to find new stuff, you should STOP to increase your business or you won't cope with the additional work. New stuff must be hired BEFORE .. not after you're going to face troubles. Is it revelatory? Nope.. it's very logic.. you don't need to be a business man to understand a such simple rule. -

Hello, i've sent an email to disable gotcha flooding stuff on: 18/01/2013 @02:04 CET. I've sent another email today 20/01/2013 @ 17:21 CET. I've sent another email today 20/01/2013 @ 20:06 CET. Nothing have happened so far. Time spent from the first request: 2 days and 18 hours ...to edit a text file. I've also spent time on the IRC channel and there were multiple users asking for support but no admins online. This company started good (acceptable at least), but it's getting worse day by day. If your customers are increasing, you should hire new stuff. If you don't find new stuff you should stop to acquire new customers if you don't have the infrastructure to cope with them. I will continue to send email and to post this message every 4 hours until i get it fixed. Thank you.
