  1. This is DayZ forum, nor arma2 or BF3.. i dunno what you're running, i'm telling you what's the difference between a ht core and a physical core, and why it's reccomended to run a DayZ instance on a physical core alone.. unless you're interested to have just an empty server. If you really wanna save money and have performance, you should look to a dedicate server, for $94 you can have a xeon e3 with SSD and you can run 4 dayz servers on it, and you'll be sure they runs fine. It's $23.5 per server (less than any other hoster.. and you'll have the full control of it). When purchasing from a dayz host company you pay the setup of those dedicate tools and maintenance, so you save the hassle of setting up a server yourself .. that's the "service" they are selling to you (and how they have a profit). They are not selling you a server, they pay for a server almost the same money as you would pay for it purchasing it yourself... they are selling to you a "package".
  2. Sure, remove any reference to gcam you may already have in the init, scroll down to the player monitor "if" (right after "[] execVM "actions.sqf";") and paste this: #include "gcam\gcam_config.hpp" #include "gcam\gcam_functions.sqf" #ifdef GCAM waitUntil {(!isNull Player) and (alive Player) and (player == player)}; waituntil {!(IsNull (findDisplay 46))}; if ((getPlayerUID vehicle player) in ["UID1","UID2"]) then { (findDisplay 46) displayAddEventHandler ["keyDown", "_this call fnc_keyDown"]; }; #endif Change the UID1 and UID2 with the admins UID's... you may leave only 1 or add more than 2 (it's an array). Good luck!
  3. Thanks, i've experiencing problems that i didn't had with the previous versions.. most of them are network problems, in example sometime i see players in the online list that have left the server some minutes before, sometime it doesn't even update the userlist, and the problem to the banlist i've talked into the previous messages.. the other clients are not giving to me these problems so it's not the connection nor the server. I'll try the new version tomorrow.. tnx.
  4. I must be honest... battleWarden can read the banlist 90% of times.. Dart reports a "timeout" as soon i click the button. So there must be something wrong/different.
  5. False assumption, sorry, you can't sell a promise or a guess. If you're going to rent a server you MUST be sure that the game server runs on it, no matter what. A single physical core on a 3ghz CPU is barely enough to run an average dayz server. It means that you should stay AWAY from any shared solution that doesn't give to your virtual server AT LEAST a single physical core. There's no magic: let's price a single core $60.. now share each core with two users.. and guess what? I'm gonna price it $30 ! .. here's your magic. It's a matter of what are your expectations, you may pay $1/mo for a server, if you got pleased by shit.
  6. With this option, apart the normal admin tools (ie: dayzcc via web) you have "unlimited" (sort of) slots and complete access to your virtual server via VNC/Remote Desktop.. i wouldn't suggest it for a fresh starter, but for an advanced admin there's an huge difference. That price is for HT CPU, not physical cores, Vilayer gives you a physical core for its price.
  7. There's no need, the one installed by default uses the admin identification (you identify yourself as an admin), in the init.sqf, and it let you use the tools, there's no need to specify the UID into the config; Btw i've modified it, since with Arma2 you can have only one admin (logged as admin), i've changed it to verify the UID upon login (again, no need to add the UID's in the config file), so now i can have multiple admins using gcam together.
  8. Any problem with the servers? Dunno if it's me or if it affects others but the server seems to have network problems, the internet traffic comes in but it doesn't go out like there's a firewall blocking it in the middle. Anyone?

    DayZ: Namalsk

    Oki, tnx.

What is a better DayZ host than DayZ.ST?

Rent a dedi if you have (very good) admin skill ... but if you want the power of a a full access server, with a managed solution and you want to save big money (virtual vs dedi), then the "new" Vilayer may be a solution: they now offers a semi-managed solution but with remote desktop access (beside the normal web admin tools via DayzCC), i'm testing it and it's awesome (they uses OVH for the European servers). Cannot judge yet the customer service since im there by only 2 days, but so far everything is running smooth.

DayZ Namalsk, No hackers, Active admins!

So you decided to open a Namalsk server when there's none playing Namalsk since it doesn't work with the new 1.7.5.1 ? No offence.. i'm just waking up ppl, so we may have more infos (my second server died too).
  12. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    DayZ: Namalsk

Was going to post the same.. my server died, since everyone upgraded to 1.7.5.1 .. is Namalsk still supported by the creator or we should switch to something else?
  13. How does it works for those of us that have customizations in place? It's not my case, since i'm running Taviana, but when/if Taviana will be updated, should i update it myself, or what? If it gets updated automatically, what's about (example) my custom mission files?
  14. I've had a chance to "play" more with my new server. And so far i'm having great fun, honestly i never tried DayzCC before (Vilayer partnered with em to provide a more advanced GUI), and i see i've missed alot. I wouldn't reccomend to mess with the setup files if you don't know what u're doing, but if you're looking for something advanced and you don't wanna spend the money for a fully dedicate server, then this is the way to go. I've opened the Taviana server by an hour or so..and it's running smooth (i'm having only few users by now.. they are only 6 in the moment i'm typing), i'm messing around with gcam (spectator mode), i can say this is the definitive tool against the cheaters ... whenever i see it can be potentially abused by some kid. The map tool is similar to the one provided by dayz.st, it's better under certain aspects (you can edit stuff on the fly), but it misses the realtime trace-lines (user movements), whenever i found it a little buggy. Pros: full control of your server, good bandwidth, fast support (we'll see in some weeks), an impressive set of admin tools; Cons: related to the above, you have full control of your server, it means that if you dunno where to place your hands you may "destroy" your server in seconds. I'll tell you more when i've collected more users aboard.

    Gotcha Anti Hack down?

The only way to have a reliable (100%) TP detection is to read the client data from the memory (since the players/vehicles pos are updated in realtime), but this means that the tool can be potentially seen as a cheat, while in fact it IS a cheat .. i'm using it on my server, but since im using it myself alone i risk less, for a public app it would be banned by battleeye in no time (since it could be abused by anyone, just like the navigator).
  16. Did you made any modifcation in the evening? Like applying new filters and such? Coz i've found gotcha enabled again...
  17. First: i've accepted the offer made to me by Lee, to test the server for 6 months (that is a huge amount of time), i'm making it clear here coz i won't be accused of licking anyone when evaluating a service, i wanted to pay for the service with the assurance that it was different of what i've experienced in the past, but he gently offered it to me for free. So to take a different approach, i've decided to install Taviana (i'm running Namalsk on DayZ.st so i didn't wanna to have two servers with the same map), the server is still closed (i'm still costomizing it, importing the banlist, scripts, etc.), so i cannot evaluate it about the lag, ping, user load, whatever.. i'll do it in the next days/weeks when i've acquired an userbase. But i wanted to talk about the interface. The first impression about the UI can be resumed in one word: i'm impressed! Vilayer had already a good/average web interface in place from the start but now it's beyond anything you may needs to customize your server. It's someway divided in different ways to admin your server: you can just deciding the basic setup (server name, map, whatever) and having a server running in minutes; the second level is someway similar to the old web interface, but with a lot more customizations (basically it is a frontend to the dayz settings files); and as ultimate admin tool you can remote desktop to your virtual server and do whatever you want to do with it (it's a real remote desktop, not limited, you can even surf the web from there). This approach can please the "noob" admin and the expert as well. I believe that some of these "tools" were used by Vilayer itself, but then they have made em a little more user friendly to offer the whole package to the end-user. I've also tested the bandwidth, i'm running the server off a french IP (The ISP is OVH) and i've measured 86mbit in download and 56mbit in upload, i guess the virtual servers (i dunno how many) are running on a shared 100mbit. As said I'll post about the server performance as soon the server will goes public.. so far, so good.
  18. I've had the worst possible experience with Vilayer, my server was alive for 2 days.. then i run run run away from it, and landed on DayZ.st that was age ahead for support and server realibility. That was back in the age when Vilayer was the most common used host, while DayZ.st were emerging. I would like to revaluate Vilayer nowaday, i hope that their lack of support of customers loss have teached em how to run a hosting service, ironically the same is happening to DayZ.st today: i've said great things about them until a month ago, now they have so many customers that if you're needs are a little over the very basic needs (putting a server online and forget about it) you're basically screwed: DayZ.st today is only "working" to acquire more and more customers, while the support is not near to what they offer months ago. I believe there's no "definitive" hosting, they start good, they ends to be bad because they cannot cope with the user demand. This is the sad reality.. when i've finished with DayZ.st i will probably try again Vilayer, at least i can edit my f banlist with them! eheh ... but my hopes aren't that high tbh.
  19. Some of us are waiting for more than a month for a solution, we awaited silently giving him all the time he needed, but there's nothing moving here. Admining a server is DayZ is not only put it online and forget about it, it's about spending hours every day FOR FREE to handle with a moltitude of issues, if you're going to add more work at the top of it because of lack of important tools/feature (ie: impossibility of modify your banlist, impossibility of customize the other settings files (ie: scripts.txt etc.) to easily cath the cheaters, then you're job is even harder or almost impossible to do. It's clear that DayZ.st is grown in size without having the correct infrastructure to handle all the customers, so it went from a 2 hours support reply to 2 days in the best scenario, often you do not find any admin in the irc channel, neither you're email are read properly (last time i emailed them asking to disable gotcha, i had to wait 3 days, after have sent 3 emails and have posted on this forum). You're correct there's nothing better for the same price, but this doesn't justify the lack of customer service: if the others sucks, this doesn't make your service automagically good, you're just slightly less worse than those others. Note: if you just signup for a server and you don't actively admin it, you won't notice any problem, coz you're not there! But if you are constantly admining your server all the problems will smack your face, and you'll notice how frustrating it is to try to admin a server (or more than a server) when at the top of the DayZ issue you gonna sum the problems of your hosting service.
  20. You cannot even read correctly what i've wrote. You are wrong, and off topic.
  21. That's what i said.. i'm envious of your "ignorance" (don't take it as an offence, i mean: ignoring of what's happening). And you're right: if you dunno that your opponent is cheating, you "sleep well". :) Unfortunately when you have some experience you know perfectly when someone is using an ESP, and much more: when you admin a server you know what's the average number of users using a cheat. So don't come here to say: i play on a whitelist server, there's no cheaters.. the correct phrase is: i play on a server where i believe there's no cheaters. You're someway right.. you enjoy some fun anyway, even while being raped by a kid using a cheat.. but i prefer to have a fair fight to be honest, that's why i do not play DayZ anymore .. today is fight of who has the best cheat! :)
  22. Ahahahahah... Do you live in cave? Whitelisted/Private servers = ESP cheaters. It's even worse.. you die with a headshot believing you did a mistake, while the guy is using a radar knowing perfectly where eveyone is and with what weapon. I'm envious of your ingenuity... when i started to play i was like you, and it was fun, until i've opened my eyes. There's no place without cheaters in dayz: there are servers where you clearly see them masskilling, and there's servers where they do their dirty jokes silently, fooling you all. :)
  23. DayZ today is about: 1) Script Kids; 2) Cheaters; 3) Script Kids; ...today (i mean literally today, while i'm typing) there's little less cheaters coz the SK isn't working (BE is kicking #4) ..there's no future, and the devs are investing all their energy to make sure these problems WON'T be addressed, so they can sell DayZ SA. In 8 days my DayZ servers wil say bye bye as well (my users lowered from 50 to 11 on average). DayZ "mod" today (or Arma2 in general) is a frustrating experience, because of script kids and hacks, whenever you look at it. Now you can live in your own dream and hope it will be good one day.. well.. good luck! :)
  24. So you're a busy man and you can't follow all the arma2 issue... BE (RCON) doesn't handle a certain number of bans, in fact the console "timeouts" when you try to retrieve a long list (the problem has been confirmed by BE, and you can have more details reading the DaRT thread). So the only way to handle the bans atm is to access directly to the bans file. If you own a full-loaded server (not my case anymore since this great service) and you're used to do your "work" (active admining) you're going to ban tenth of script kids per day, and there you face the problem: you cannot maintain your bans anymore, since you cannot update the list from "outside".. to not count the fact that you cannot backup it (if not transcripting any damn ban manually in a text file on your own PC). If you don't care about your server, if you don't place any ban, if you put your server online just to say around: "hey look i have a server" (without care about cheaters, scripters, whatever), you're not face any problem of course.. your server is just "abandoned". If fact the last 2 weeks were great! My server is just sitting there.. full of script kids, most of the time half empty coz of mass-kills.. it's sitting there, and i'm paying you to have a server working at 10% of its potential. Those are the "admins" you're aiming to have: kids that are paying you $30/mo for an empty server, they won't face any problem and they won't give you any trouble: of course.. their f server is empty, neither they are there to admin it, neither they know if there may be an issue on it, it's abandoned.
  25. I do something else as my job, and do my work professionally, when a customer asks to me something i don't say him to open his own company. I will loose my job instead... but i understand that this is a "videogame", and there's a way many "kids" that are running a server, so for you (not only for you, but for anyone that is running a "dayz hosting" service nowday) it is normal to forget about your job and your customers... they are just kids after all. I didn't blame at you when my server was off for 3 days, i didn't blamed at you when my users were going elsewhere for a port bug, i didn't blamed at you when you asked to me to change my IP and my servers went from first place to 80 in 2 hours, neither i blame at you when you're ddossed everyday... these are issue out of your control, aren't they? But... DID YOU REALIZED THAT IF I PLACE A WRONG BAN I CANNOT REMOVE IT THEN WITHOUT EMAILING TO YOU AND ASKING TO EDIT THE F BANS.TXT MANUALLY???? HOW THE HELL YOU CONSIDER THIS A LOW PRIORITY ISSUE?
