Surely thanks for the effort into making some videos.. but those are just terrible! I didn't looked em all.. but the start made me quit it pretty fast: running for no reasons + attract intentionally the zombies + shoot at em wasting your precious ammo? Man this is not CoD .. it's because ppl of ppl watching this videos that the games is transforming into a run&gun .. like any other FPS. I know ppl have no patience at all.. but there's so many games out there where you can do that, why trolling in a game where the FPS component isn't that great?

A new player's review (WARNING: Rampant whining ahead)
WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to Tvayumat's topic in New Player Discussion
Atm the gameplay is "broken" by its own popularity, that attracted CoD players and such. There's nothing you can do about it. Don't think that a strategy exists, they are just "dumb", because they doesn't care to die, since they can respawn again a moment after. If you believe that making a squad of several ppl would scare these kids to not shot at you, you're completely wrong, they will shot at you, you'll die, you'll friend will shot back at him.. but you still died. The kid then respaws and he will do the same.. over and over and over again. Unfortunately there's no solution to this.. well a solution would be to apply "artificial" rules to the game, but you're going to introduce an unrealistic restriction to correct an unrealistic behavior. They should really give more incentives to not act as an idiot... in example more days you live, more stronger you'll be.. so ppl won't spawn 50 times per hour! That is just ridiculous... but they would care a little more about their "life". -
Why should killing other players be a punishable act?
WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to Pat_the_Bunny's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
None wants to punish them.. we only want some kind of "realism". We're not against the bandits, we're against those kids that start to shot at everyone for no apparent reason from the first second in game, then die (for whatever reason) and do it again and again and again at every damn respawn, because they thinks this is CoD or Battlefield. There MUST be a way to incentivate a "normal" (call it so) behavior, in real life you won't act like a troll, you would be scared, you would find other survivors, certainly there would be some sick person that would kill others, but you wouldn't have a so big number of assassins everywhere. Ppl will kill other ppl when it's convenient, nor because they want to try a new weapon.. it happens in a videogame and this is what we would see "fixed", the videogame playing style.. we would like to have something more immersive and "real". -
Will zombies back off if you keep running?
WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to RaedwulfGamer's topic in New Player Discussion
Obstacles btw you and the zeds won't works because they'll pass trough them! The only way to outrun all the zombies (including the fast ones) is to run up to a hill, those ones where you can't run, finding the "right" path (there might be a certain path where you can run, while on the sides you can only work...), now the zeds cannot replicate this exact path and they cannot follow you; also descending the hill will make the remaining ones falling and diying (pretty hilarous..). This is the only way i've found to outrun them, and i've managed to outran about 40 of em (i had really had to run from elektro to cherno e finally get rid of em "using" the lighthouse hill!). -

Bandits don't get punished, Survivors do...
WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to leblackdragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Those ppl pretending to know how a person would react to a zombie apocalypse is acceptable.. what is not is reading comments about: you would kill anyone for your life. That's completely false: if you know just a little the human nature (you don't need to have studied it, it's pretty logic) you know that for a "survivor" the most important thing would be to meet other survivors. It's like living on a desert island and finally find another person. Do you really this that a normal person would camp the whole day to shoot down random chaps with a sniper rifle? Wtf u think? Everyone here turned into a psycho? The only reason of why we have so many "bandits" in game, it's because this is a game, and you're not into a real zombie apocalypse (of course!), they shot ppl for fun, like in any other game. Only few humans remained on the planet.. and you going to kill those few? LOL you must be have only your 0.1% of your brain working if you would do this in "real life", luckily this is not the RL. :) -
I know what you mean.. i want to expose the fact that who decided that 30 seconds are "enough" to kill someone? That way i've to rush to face a potential opponent, if he ducks behind an obstacle, only because i'm worried that he MAY disconnects and so i've only 30 seconds to kill him? It sounds dumb to me.

Fix the netcode and make the ppl dying when they died. This is the really issue: circumvent the death by disconnecting AFTER you died because the server didn't updated your status yet. Being able to quit when YOU WANT to quit is legit and there must be no restrictions at all, it's my choice to quit when i want and where i want. If we want to force the players to follow these dumb rules, then a persistant world should be like the term suggest: persistent, including your avatar... and so it must be there H24, and if you don't have time to look at it, it's your problem. Why the hell i should be forced to be in game when someone wants to kill me? And so.. why only 30 seconds? I may be follow someone for 30 minutes, sneaky, finding the best moment to kill him... but damn he then suddendly disconnects (without even knowing i was there..)! No i pretend him to stay in game H24 to accomodate my ideas.

Compass now appearing, bug, new feature or something else?
WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to zippy32's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's turned ON on some servers. It doesn't only show you on the map, it also highlights zombies and other ppl with a pink arrow when in sight. -
Explain me how you could be "caution" with me, if my intention is to kill you...? Are you going to point your gun at my head every single moment until i go away?
-
And the worst part is that he rushed to get what he needs from your body, then quitted and joined another server, so he didn't even had to deal with the zeds he attracted shooting at you in the middle of the city. This is another reason of why everything is screwed atm, not only you can kill anyone, but you can kill anyone everywhere (it would have been "fun" to look at each other without shooting because each one were scared of tons o zombies all around) without thinking much, since there's the magical quit to save your arse.

Racism shouldn't tollerate of course, this is a matter of RL thing .. more than a game attitude. This lead us, anyway, to the general question: what should be tollerate and what's not? In example you see racist comments in those action movies (even zombie movies), because they are part of the "scene"; and so you may listen rude talking and such.. so the question is: what we consider acceptable? In example can i write: "b**ch" in chat? Is this game 18+ only? The argument goes beyond the (obviously not acceptable) racist comments.

Bandits don't get punished, Survivors do...
WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to leblackdragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I just left a server where a guy were asking/spamming in chat to have duels in Devil's Castle, because he get bored of going around the map or camp to snipe random ppl. Now talk to me about "realism".... lol. -
Aiming/Ironsight problem
WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to WalkerDown (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yup i know ... but when i pressed (clicked, not holding) the button, it zoomed in briefly instead of toggle the aim. I spent 2 days trying to figure what was wrong before posting here, but then right after have posted, it started to work magically as before for no reasons! -
Did you really killed a person? You're horrible.

WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to leblackdragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Maybe you didn't got that i'm full with that guy, not against him. He's exploting the game to take an advantage. He exposes the fact that without rules, in the name of the "realism", you're not going anywhere.. simply because this is a game not the real life, and a game needs a set of rules to be played, that's why it is called "game". I may list thousands compromises adopted to make this game (sort of) balanced.. in example the vechicles: do you really believe that in real life it would be so hard to find a working vehicle? Maybe the fuel.. not the vehicles itself.. there should be hundreds of working cars all around, but there's only few.. why? Because otherwise this will be transformed into a "racing game", with ppl jumping with those cars up the hills laughing in chat (totally unrealistic). It is a sandbox.. isn't it? So where's all the vehicles? And all the bazookas? And all the helicopters? Planes? This proves you that you need to "force" ppl to follow certain rules to make the game enjoyable for anyone, and the the bandits behavior is only helping mostly those cod-style players that are not interested into the RPG part of it. Removing the skins is only increasing the problem, since now you don't even have the drawback of being a kill_em_all plr. -
Bandits don't get punished, Survivors do...
WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to leblackdragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This what's the game is about: Trolling all around > die > repeat it over and over again ... what's the fun? Ruining other experience... or to be exact: laughing at those (so called) hardcore players imporsonating real life behaviors and social schemes. It is a game, you have infinite lifes, ppl are not scared of dying, because they can do it again after a new respawn (a marakov is MORE than enough to kill other plrs with no effort at all and eventually stole their loot). -

It's just a consequence... most of the time it's not to get their gear but to avoid they shoots at you (shot for first rule). They'll do (inverse case) to get your gear (because they were bandits respawning looking for a fast upgrade) or because they are newbie CoD players (they doesn't know anything else than firing at the "enemy"; where the enemy is anyone rather than yourself), or they do just for fun (did you ever seen a guy screaming in a room: "lookH daDhh i juFt shoTT thifH guy in the head fh fhfhfh"). The only way to avoid this behaviour then is to balance being a survivor or being a criminal. Nor that one side should be the "right" way to play, but it must have its DISTINCTIVE way (advantage and disvantages).. it's like those games HumansVSVampires. In example a bandit can be more prone to suffer the cold (being infected), but it may have more blood reserve.. and stuff like that. So the player can chose to be one or the other. At the moment this sort of balancement doesn't exists, and being eveil gives you an enormous advantage.

Bandits don't get punished, Survivors do...
WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to leblackdragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not sure.. but if they're going to add another mechanism later, why removing the skins now? Wouldn't be better to wait and deploy a better system instead of risking to spread the deathmatch behavior all around? -
It depends of what's your objective. If you want to play the game as a chat room, you're fine with respawn multiple time per day; but if you want to survive (take it as mission or a challenge, it's a zombie game in the end, surviving is key) then the only way to succeed is to kill anyone else.
-
There's no problem of banning few innocent ppl (unless it's me), the severity must remain to give everyone else a more enjoyable experience. I'm sorry if you have been banned for no reason, but you should keep it: It's Z day, it's a cruel world, the fairness has gone and crying is not enough to restore the civil rules.
-
There's no reason of doing anything else than killing other survivors, since because there's no downside of doing it, but the opposite: the first to shot will live for longer. If you read about comments on this or any other forum, you only need a couple of days to figure it out (it happened to me too): you start with good whilling, you say "i do this, i'll team up with survivors to fight zeds.." and all this good stuff, but the second day, after you have been killed like 50 times for no absolute reasons (ie: having to precious item to make you a target), you understand that the only way to play is to kill anyone else, like any other FPS. At the moment, until something will be done (if it will be done) is pretty like a deathmatch, the zombies are only a fun "side dish".
